how many transgender people do you know

Just that really. I've only met one at work a man who had the change to a woman.
From the number of threads recently it would appear that people are bumping into trans people everywhere they turn.

Two MtF in my extended circle of friends, and two FtM in a group I used to be involved with years ago. Although it's a while since I've been in touch with them.

One. Friend of a friend.

Had his fake vagina and breasts and laser hair removal paid for by the NHS when we are struggling to pay for life saving treatment for how many conditions?

One. Very close friend of mine, M to F. Always been one of the loveliest people I know and that hasn't changed. She's much happier with life now.

I have known 4.
One actual transsexual M to F ( always known she felt in the "wrong" body), gay teen, still attracted to men. Has had full surgery.
Two transvestites who are both straight and enjoy dressing in feminine clothing/make-op. One if these has decided he is "transgender" now.
One F to M from college. She was a Lesbian, but wanted to transition to being a boy. I don't know if surgery was involved.

None now. I used to work with a MTF, she was an accountant. she used the men's loo, iirc and she was called Faye. She was perfectly pleasant. A tutor at uni was a very unconvincing MTF, a thoroughly unpleasant person also.

I know five people (two very well, two long time online friends, one slightly), all MtF. Four of them I have only known as F, but I knew one person by their male name when we were students and have had to rewrite my thoughts as I got to know them properly as F.

We have someone at work who has started informing everyone that they are gender fluid, but they seem to be saying that they don't fit a stereotype of their biological sex. I don't really need to know more...

4.
2 are teenage mtf. The older of the two has already said discreetly that she will be detransitionning when she goes to uni in September but doesn't want to do it while still at school. The younger one has only been identifying as a boy for a few months, but it doesn't seem to have made a positive difference to their life (yet?)

The other 2 are older mtf. One is dh's best friend, is in her 50s, has 2 ex-wives and 3 adult children. Her last romantic partner left her about 6 months after she transitioned because her whole personality seems to have changed from when she was happy being a man (she genuinely was happy being male for over 50 years). The last one is a mtf who I met through an exercise group. She was a gay man but had a sex change many years ago so she could marry her husband. They have been quietly and happily married for a long time.

I went to the gp about menopausal hair on my chin and he literally laughed at me. I do resent the fact that transgender people get hair removal on the NHS, yes. My distress is clearly unimportant to them.

None until DD went to uni. Now there is the transgirl DD shares with who is ASD and has had no treatments but wears skirts and scarves, and becomes a boy when her DF drives her to uni coz he doesn't know. The transwoman DS did a course with that went the whole way at 22 (and DS went out with), the friend's daughter's friend who was suddenly a boy, and my friend's daughter who declared herself 'assexual' which I know is not transgender but we don't know where this came from. Confused

One MtF tutor at college.
One MtF at a sports group.
One MtF in the ladies' department of a local well-known clothing store, though I don't 'know' them

Two FtM in my DD's year at school
One FtM in my DS's year at school
Two FtM who are daughters of close friends
One 'non-binary blue-haired and rainbows' who gets very cross whatever you call him/her

That's, what, 9?

Umm... maybe I have that effect on people?

My aunt so many over the years because of her, older generation and extremely quiet and discreet. Quite a few of oldest DCs friends but mainly not seeking any treatments just changing of name and pronoun.

2, 1 in each direction.

The ftm is much happier and I am sure did the right thing. Lovely person.

The mtf is a bit of a knob. Or a bit of a twat. But apparently they always were.

One at university was going from m to f, that was in the early 90's I don't know her now. There is one student in my town m to f aged 20 and another man who works in the town hall, he wears a lot of make-up but also wears men's clothes, he identifies as both.

None personally, but I know of some through work/dc school. All teens.
I don’t know any adults.

I have to say the non-binary stuff is confusing too. dD and I were talking and we agreed that you can be a non-girly girl (like herself), but still be happy being defined as female. Where does it cross into having to be defined as neither gender? It’s not something that even entered my head as a teen that even existed as a concept, even if I thought boys could climb trees and ‘it wasn’t fair’ or suchlike.
