OP, what does M0 do for a living? You say she’s a professional. Would her employer be interested in knowing this story? My Dh works in a civilian police role and conduct like this would be of interest to their professional standards department. Just a thought.

It’s odd because some people like thus just enjoy drama and attention but taking it to the level that she’s told her kids is something else. Whether she’s just one of those toxic mothers that her own desire for drama and attention is more important or she’s genuinely believing it and her delusions is hard to say. At least no one is buying it.

I'm not usually one to cry "101!" but this woman is clearly not quite right and its better this is prerecorded in case it escalates further.
At worst, the police have an entertaining email... but if she decides to start acting on any intrusive thoughts she may be having (I mean, we're talking about a woman who invented a whole life with someone else, including killing off his wife...) then the police have a backstory to work on.
