I can’t believe I’m asking this, but I’m really nosey and just wanted to put it out there.

AIBU to ask you about how you met your partner, DH or DW? Insanely curious (although I know it’s none of my business).

We originally met at primary school and the our paths crossed a few times over the next ten years before we ended up together in the same class at college.

AHedgehogCanNeverBeBuggered · 13/02/2018 18:02

We snogged at the office Christmas party Blush

We're going to tell our DC that we met whilst alligator-wrestling in the Deep South.

In the pub. I was the barmaid. He was drinking in there with his mate and had been chatting me up all afternoon. I went back after my shift later on to see if he'd still be there, he was still there and he asked for my number.
13 years and two kids later it's all still good Grin

DreamsTonite · 13/02/2018 18:06

Tinder! Been together 2.5 years and TTC baby #1

Sallystyle · 13/02/2018 18:09

In a pub. My mum used to go when I was young on a Thursday night to watch a band playing. I started going with her when I was 18. Dh went one night with his friend when I was 24.

A woman I did not like started flirting with him. I only excepted his offer a drink to piss her off.

Sallystyle · 13/02/2018 18:09

BTW I didn't marry him for that reason Thanks

Sallystyle · 13/02/2018 18:09

That was meant to be a Grin not flowers.. I need to go to bed!

HeartCurrent · 13/02/2018 18:14

I was 17 it was New Year's Eve and I saw a pic of him on my friends phone,
I said 'he's fit'
the next day turns out he was her cousin who had just come back from living in Ibiza he added me on Facebook and said
'i heard you said I was fit'
I replied 'I did'
and he said 'at least your honest' ...

Almost 9 years later I still think he's really really fit. Wink

underthecorktree · 13/02/2018 18:16

I met my DH on tinder

Minxmumma · 13/02/2018 18:31

Falling on my behind in a very muddy field in mid March 6 years ago surrounded by parents and kids. He and a mate contrived to land me on my butt so he could rescue me!
We get married tomorrow!

fireflame · 13/02/2018 18:37

My brother set me up on a blind date 🙉 (well sort of)
Crowd of us were going to an engagement party
Took one look at him and thought omg wtf 🤣🤣🤣
He was so drunk!
I was actually driving that night (not drinking)
My brother wanted me to give the drunk a lift home, absolutely no way
However met up 3 months later and thought how lovely he was 😃
2 years later we were married 🙊
He comes from a family that I have always dreamed of having, not like my dysfunctional family 🙁
15 years later we are still together ( had our ups and downs) but we got through it
However I couldn't-imagine life without him
I would also like to add the best in-laws anyone could ever wish for
Sadly we have lost them both in the last 2 years (illness)
Great big thank you to my DH for taking myself and children on
and his amazing parents who always treated us like their own 😘

TheJoyOfSox · 13/02/2018 18:45

My friend Helly was dating a guy and her guy knew my husband, Helly wanted me to come out with her and her fella, to a gig. I did want to go but I thought I’d be a third wheel so she got her fella to ask his friend along to make up numbers. The rest, as they say, is history. We celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary in two months and I still feel like I’m on honeymoon with my best friend (hubby is best friend btw,)
Helly and her fella split up and now I rarely see her.

PenguinDi · 13/02/2018 18:48

POF, been together 3 years and married just over 4 months.

Pollypudding · 13/02/2018 19:00

I shamelessly asked all my friends at work if they knew any single men. One set me up on a blind date with her BIL. We have been together for over 10 years and married for 7.

Oneandoneontheway · 13/02/2018 19:03

Very drunk on a leaving do, ran out of cigs, spotted him smoking, slid over to cadge one.....fell in love, 6 months later got engaged , 2 years later married, now 2 kids Smile

LuckyAmy1986 · 13/02/2018 19:19

I was at a concert and DH was working on the bar and served me.

Dobbythesockelf · 13/02/2018 19:29

At school. We met at 12, became friends due to a mutual love of punk rock. At 14 he asked me out, we went on one date but we're both too shy to take it further. Stayed friends, dated other people but he was my best friend till we were 17. Went out with friends, sat talking and he said "We should go out" I said yes. 11 years later, 1 dd and a baby on the way. He still is my best friend and as cliche as it sounds he really does understand me, anxiety and everything included.

SaltMarshPirate · 13/02/2018 19:42

On match.com. First time I had ever tried OLD and he was my third date (in all fairness the other two dates were very nice; no horror stories here.) I told my best friend that I was going to marry him after seeing his photos.
On our first date I remember walking in to the rather posh bar that he had picked. He had bagged the best seats but he was sitting with his back to me. I saw the back of his head and his shoulders and it was like I knew him, not love at first sight, more like,’Ah, of course, here you are.’
Took him home and kept him. Been married 7 years, 2 dc.

Katedotness1963 · 13/02/2018 19:49

I worked in a bar, he was a customer. Always heard barmaid and customer was a bad idea, here we are, 36 years later...

TheMadGardener · 13/02/2018 23:12

University. I was an undergrad living in a scuzzy upstairs student flat. He was a postgrad who had just moved into a spare room in the equally scuzzy flat downstairs. I hadn't met him yet. One day I decided to borrow the enormous heavy ancient vacuum cleaner owned by downstairs in an effort to clean up my grotty room a bit. It weighed a ton and I was really struggling to get it up the stairs. He heard the clattering noises, came out of his room, introduced himself and carried the giant vacuum cleaner upstairs for me. Later the same week he lent me a book of Russian poetry...
Married 8 years later. Now married for almost 21 years.

JoeyMaynardssolidlump · 13/02/2018 23:20

School. Sixth form drinking after O levels. Those were the good old days when you could get into any pub and the teachers came too. Grin

30 years this year. 5 kids. Still best friends

liz70 · 13/02/2018 23:23

I put a request on Teletext for a rare album I was seeking. He replied, wasn't letting go of his own copy but offered a tape recording if I had no other joy. Meanwhile somebody else who had the record got in touch and sold it to me for a reasonable price. I thanked tape bloke but told him his offer wasn't necessary. We continued to write to each other for several months. Then we arranged to meet up. That was nearly twenty three years and three DDs ago.
