I can’t believe I’m asking this, but I’m really nosey and just wanted to put it out there.

AIBU to ask you about how you met your partner, DH or DW? Insanely curious (although I know it’s none of my business).

Merryoldgoat · 13/02/2018 08:16

Amateur dramatics. Together 12 years, married 6.

Several of our friends met in a similar way unsurprisingly.

We met at work. Started as friends and took our kids out together as we were both single parents. Then he came over one eve and it just happened. Took it really steady, still are as I'm not happy rushing anything.

Ds's dad I met on tinder. Previous girlfriend I met at work. Another ex I lived in the same block of flats.

Work when we were both early 20’s. we used to all go for drinks after work on a Friday, and we always seemed to find ourselves as the last ones standing, chatting for hours.
I was in an unsatisfactory relationship at the time, with a chef who’s work hours completely clashed with mine meaning we never spent any time together. I ended it with him before anything happened with now dh.
We kept it secret from work for a while but I think realistically everyone knew.
We still work for the same firm, but in different locations now. Been together 15 years, married nearly 2 and 1 ds.

We were both meeting a large group to do a summer of camps working for a charity working with disadvantaged children. We ‘clicked’ instantly and just knew this was a long term friendship. It was more, as happens.

In a club. I'd seen him around a couple of times but we had been seeing other people. Together 10 years with 4dc.

suchasoftersin · 13/02/2018 08:45

At work! Two years of friendship before we went on a date. 1 year of which I was still in long term emotionally abusive relationship with ex. Long before we got together he used to always tell me I was the love of his life and would be his wife one day and I always laughed it off as him winding me up; for once he was right. Now engaged and have a beautiful DD.

PipGirl404 · 13/02/2018 08:48

POF! Met some right arseholes on it thought before he came along.

He's alright, he can stay.

Hippadippadation · 13/02/2018 08:49

Match.com. I went out with and fielded messages from a lot of weirdos before I met DH! We talked for weeks before we actually met up. I think that helped.

Lambbone · 13/02/2018 08:49

At a wedding. Turns out the b and g seated us next to each other deliberately.

Good call! That was in 1989.

BelleandBeast · 13/02/2018 08:55

At university, but didn't see him for twenty years.

Scrambledheads · 13/02/2018 08:58

Feezles · 13/02/2018 09:19

eHarmony. I had a proper love/hate relationship with OLD, I did it for years and while there were some decent sorts, I also met a lot of utter dicks. But I never met anyone any other way so I stuck with it. And then I met DH, and that was that. Soul mates.

Schroedingerscatagain · 13/02/2018 09:22

Blind date, I worked with his cousin who insisted we meet.

11 1/2 weeks later we married had 2 dc and have been together nearly 17 years. Love of my life

mrsnec · 13/02/2018 09:23

I love my story I think it's so funny and different

So I was fairly newly single and there was a guy I knew through a friend who was interested in me. We hadn't spent a lot of time together so one day after work he finally asked me to meet him at the pub where he would be with a few friends. I agreed and went to the pub.
When I arrived there was a group of about 6 people, some I knew some I didn't.
The boy I was meeting was very very shy (not like me) and didn't seem too interested in talking to me which was annoying.
I greeted the rest of the people for one stunning 6ft 4 tattooed man to hug me and say "don't you remember me?"
(Sudden realisation I was supposed to make a music video for him and bailed out at the last minute - I studied film it was for uni)
after a while of trying to get the boy I originally was out with it just wasn't happening and Boy B (tattoos) tried to encourage some conversation until eventually it was just me and him talking.

He asked if I could put his jacket in his bag as he didn't want to carry it to the nightclub. We danced and laughed - next morning I realised I still had his jacket in my bag.
He asked me over for coffee at about 7am that same morning and the rest is history

Now with a 6month old baby

The scary bit is the only reason he was there that night was because he missed his train into town and couldn't be bothered waiting on another one...
