To ask how tall you are?

I'm 5'10 (and a half even) and everywhere I go I feel freakishly tall compared to other women around me.

It's alright though, really!

How tall are you? Do you like being your particular height?

OP posts:
ImoAsta · 11/02/2018 17:35

I'm 5"7' with very long limbs!
My legs and torso look normal and in proportion but my arms can sometimes look really lanky!
I do love my height now but not so much when I was younger as all my friends are 5"3' and under which made me feel massive in comparison.

DramaAlpaca · 11/02/2018 17:36

I'm 5'10. I like it now but was very self conscious about my height as a teenager. My DM is tiny, as was her DM & I'm the same height as my DF.

I'm the shortest in the house as my young adult sons range from 5'11 like DH to 6'3.

Campanile · 11/02/2018 17:51

5'2"

petbear · 11/02/2018 18:10

@amusedbush

5 foot 4.5 inches, but I have the weirdest proportions. I have a really long body so I need tops from the 'tall' range but my inside leg is 28" so I need 'petite' jeans Hmm

I'm a size 14 and look like a bloody Womble Blush

Bahahahahahahaaaa 😁😁😂😄🤣Made me LOL that did!

5'1" and a half.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks the extra half an inch is important.

Standandwait · 11/02/2018 18:15

I'm just a hair under 5'7". When I look in photos of me with other women I'm often the tallest in the group, but I actually feel rather small in life. For one thing DH is 6', but also I grew quite late in adolescence, didn't really get started till 16 and went right on till 23.

I've noticed most friends tend to feel tall or short based on how they felt compared to their age group at about 14.

Actually 5'7" is perfect for fitting into bus and plane seats and clothes. And beds! I ask on behalf of DH, why are beds not longer?

I aim to please Grin

@InToMyHeart

Half an inch DOES make all the difference when you're wee. Grin

InToMyHeart · 11/02/2018 18:28

@petbear It does, doesn't it!

Heartisbroke · 11/02/2018 18:28

5"3. I look like a child and often get mistaken for one (well for a teen). I don't think my height helps. Usually am not too bothered by it though.

inashizzle · 11/02/2018 18:33

5'9.5

I like it. My eldest dd stopped at 5'6
My youngest dd is 12 , 5'6 and hates being tall . I think because some people make such a huge ordeal out of it. She's got size 7 feet that I think have stopped growing now like mine did . I've heard her sports coaches really go on about it and the odd teacher to the point where I want to chip in , well I can't believe your such a certain dress size blah blah blah just to see their reaction .

A friend of mine is 4'11. Her dd is very petite. She loathes the attention it brings too.

I try to say beautifully tall, or if a girl loathes being small, beautifully smaller and for them to embrace; any positive suggestions welcome .

5foot3¹/²inches.......always standing under sweaty armpits on the tube in rush hour, and i have to climb on the bottom shelf in the supermarket to read the top shelf where they keep all the good biscuits---Sad

Line through fail

demirose87 · 11/02/2018 18:51

About 5'4 I'd say I'm about average but on the shorter side.

Whisperingwinds · 11/02/2018 18:51

5’2 and a half - feel like a dwarf / the fact that there is a modelling agency on the floor below ours at work Doesn’t help in making me feel like a grown up at all !

Katedotness1963 · 11/02/2018 18:55

I used to be 4'11 1/2" but got measured at the hospital last week and it said 4'10. I cried...

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/02/2018 18:55

I used to be 5'10 but at 51 am now apparently only 5'9" :(

I like being tall - feel very tall at work as everyone seems to be 5'4 or under Confused but feel a short arse at home. DH is 6'2 and DS1 is 6'3.5 and Ds2 is 6'2.5 and both still growing!

AJPTaylor · 11/02/2018 18:56

5 foot 1
Dh 6 foot 2
Dd3 is taller than me
She is 10

Rebeccaslicker · 11/02/2018 19:00

Well, I always thought I was 5'6", so about average.

Then I had DC and 3 different doctors measured me at 5'7". Easiest way to drop a BMI point ever; I was thrilled Grin

MonaTheMoaner · 11/02/2018 19:03

5ft10 and I have a love/hate relationship with it. I wish I was 5ft6-7 most days so I could wear heels and not completely tower over 5ft10 DH.

CheeseAndBeans · 11/02/2018 19:03

5’11. Used to hate being tall as a teen but it’s ok now. OH is 6’3 so I feel short compared to him.
Only things I dislike are the lack of leg room on buses, theatres, planes etc. And not being able to buy “tall” clothes on the high street. They all seem to have gone online only!

WaxOnFeckOff · 11/02/2018 19:03

I went the other way - I was not thrilled!

Drs told DH he was 6'3 last week though, he's 56 and never been above 6'2 and doesn't think he's suddenly had a growth spurt - looks like Dr just converted cms to inches wrong.

booboobutt · 11/02/2018 19:04

5'10. I used to want to be shorter because I felt too big compared with my school friends. Now I'm a grown up I realise two things:

  1. I shouldn't have to feel apologetic for the amount of space I take up in the world
  2. nothing I can do about it anyway!

So, I don't feel any way about it really. It is what it is.

UnimaginativeUsername · 11/02/2018 19:04

I’m 163cm. It is what it is.

VileyRose · 11/02/2018 19:06

5ft 2 and would HATE to be taller. I love being small. My OH is 6ft 5 and I love that he can pick me up. I feel more feminine being small.
