To ask how tall you are?

NaughtyNoraTheNamechanger · 11/02/2018 14:43

I'm 5'10 (and a half even) and everywhere I go I feel freakishly tall compared to other women around me.

It's alright though, really!

How tall are you? Do you like being your particular height?

Bluntness100 Cool, I think genetics are fascinating.

gossipgirl28 · 11/02/2018 15:43

I'm 5ft 8! Love being a bit above average (except when I wear high heels) xoxo

halfwitpicker · 11/02/2018 15:43

5'5

Love my height. Can wear heels and still be much smaller than DH.

Khaleesi0 · 11/02/2018 15:44

I'm 5ft 2 - used to hate it but now I don't give a fuck! Ha ha ha!

youngnomore · 11/02/2018 15:44

5.3”. As a teen I was size 8 so looked tiny. Now at 40 a size 12. Don’t mind it. With heels I’m ok.

schnubbins · 11/02/2018 15:44

I am 5ft 10.Quite happy being this size except when in countries where women are small and petite because then I feel like and elephant. My mom is small and petite and people never believed That I was her daughter when I was young.Always comments about how 'huge' I was compared to her. Hated it!
I too have problems finding clothes especially dress that are cut long enough.the waists are usually under my boobs and they ar never long enough .tops and jumpers all too short also.
My husband is 6'1 and built like a tank.My boys 6'2 and 6'3. So I am the smallest in the house.

NaughtyNoraTheNamechanger · 11/02/2018 15:44

I gave up with heels a long, long time ago!! Can't walk in them the same as I could when I was 6 anymore!!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/02/2018 15:45

5ft 2. It used to bother me, it doesn't now.

PossiblyPFB · 11/02/2018 15:45

I’m the same height as the OP at 5’10.5”. My DF is 1/2 inch taller than me and my DB the same at 5’11, a very average male height. My DM is 5’6” - my theory is that DM is long legged for her height and with a shorter torso and DF is very longwaisted for his height with very short legs. I seem to have inherited both the long legs and the long torso from each. DH is very tall, 6’.3.5” or 6’4” and dd is on the taller side. I expect she will be at least 6’. I like being tall. Smile

"Obvious from this thread that tall is desirable and short is not"

That's interesting - I was just thinking it was unusual to see such an even-handed thread about height, with some people expressing happiness about being short! This thread doesn't seem particularly weighted towards 'tall is good, short is bad'.

In general life though it does seem there is often an assumption that height is good - and I think there is some statistical evidence that there is a slight correlation between height and male earnings. (Don't know about female earnings.)

confusednotcom2 · 11/02/2018 15:46

TragicRabbit well i’m under 5ft 9 and felt short amongst the other models.

MrsHarry
Perhaps she will have a final growth spurt. Although I think height is only 70% genetic & the rest environmental. DH is from a tall family, he’s 6.2, his bro is 6.3 but his sister is 5ft 4.

MsHarry · 11/02/2018 15:48

I find it fascinating too. DH's mum is 5ft 8, his dad was 5ft 9/10. God knows where he got his height from, didn't even like milk much!

PaddlingShoes · 11/02/2018 15:49

5'5"

MsHarry · 11/02/2018 15:49

BTW I think my DD is perfect at 5ft 4 it's just she always thought she'd be tall and is a little disappointed!

spanieleyes · 11/02/2018 15:51

5 foot 1 inch, doesn't really bother me except:
both sons are six footers and pat me disdainfully on the head!
it means teaching Year 6 is interesting!

Meandmy4 · 11/02/2018 15:54

5 ft 11 !.... hated being tallest in my teen years but now love it as when im carrying extra podge its quite easy to disguise 😂

Summerisdone · 11/02/2018 15:55

I’m 5’1, and I’m quite happy with my height now, but growing up I hated being such a short arse.
I’m the shortest in my whole family; sisters, aunts and cousins are all pretty tall (between 5’6-6’1), except for DM who is 5’4.
I’ve always been the shortest amongst friends too, but then it’s not too difficult to be the shortest when you’re barely above 5’ Grin

NaughtyNoraTheNamechanger · 11/02/2018 15:56

@spanieleyes I can imagine that would be interesting. When I was in primary 7 (Scottish year 6) I was, at almost 5'6, taller than my teacher by a mile!!

OP posts:
starzig · 11/02/2018 15:57

5ft and love it.

shortcake85 · 11/02/2018 15:57

I'm 5'10 doesn't bother me now but used to as a teen. I don't ever wear high heels though, I live in flats but if I do wear heels it's usually a short chunky heel. Don't have a problem buying jeans etc as usually buy long leg range from next.

Jaygee61 · 11/02/2018 15:59

Summerisdone yes me too. No idea where I get my shortness from.

Sallystyle · 11/02/2018 15:59

5ft 1 and a half.

I don't like that I can't reach things up high easily. Many clothes don't look right on me, but apart from that I quite like it.

665TheNeighbourOfTheBeast · 11/02/2018 16:00

I'm 5'10" and am the shortest woman of several and the shortest person in our house.
It's odd to be "quite tall" in most circumstances yet to be perceived as short in others. Pros and cons to both I think.

tinytemper66 · 11/02/2018 16:01

4ft 10 3/4 inches
