To ask how tall you are?

I'm 5'10 (and a half even) and everywhere I go I feel freakishly tall compared to other women around me.

It's alright though, really!

How tall are you? Do you like being your particular height?

OP posts:
CointreauVersial · 11/02/2018 16:02

5' 7"

I would say it's the perfect height. Slightly taller than average, able to fit most standard-length clothes, but not too tall.

Need2morehands · 11/02/2018 16:02

I'm 5'8 always been the tallest of my friends but never cared and iv always loved and worn super high shoes. OH is a smidge smaller then me too

Thehogfather · 11/02/2018 16:04

6', with long limbs and skinny so appear taller. Gangly/ lanky are apt descriptions.

Despite not liking my appearance in my teens, I've never hated it and love it now. I was always sporty and my height/ limb length was an advantage.

I only dislike it when it comes to clothes shopping and things like plane/ theatre seats.

Dd was 14 at Xmas and was 5'10. As I grew another couple of inches between then and 16, and dd has always been my body double, I'd estimate she'll be at least 6'1.

Having always focused on the positives she's always loved being tall except for seats and clothing.

Only aspect that has annoyed me is people always assuming she is older than she is and expecting her to behave accordingly. Perfectly decent 14yr old boys trying to chat up (oblivious) dd aged 10, and then turning bright red and running for the hills when they realised she wasn't their age I can cope with as an innocent mistake. But as a toddler/ younger child, entitled parents assuming my much younger dd should give way/ be tolerant of their older dc pushing in, snatching etc I have no patience for.

Mostly though we both forget about the fact we are tall. Occasionally I see a woman my height and think 'wow' isn't she lovely and tall, before realising we are the same height.

WhingyNinja · 11/02/2018 16:05

I'm 5ft 2 and a size 5 shoe. Very average Grin

Lulusmother · 11/02/2018 16:05

I’m 5’9 but also have wild hair 🙄 which will add 2 inches on. Love a kitten heel I must say 👏 don’t think I could do really high as would look like an ungainly giraffe! ASOS, next and other shops are now brill for us taller girls. Gave up on LTS and their extortionate prices years ago !!!

PorklessPie · 11/02/2018 16:07

5ft 2

NotASingleFuckToGive · 11/02/2018 16:08

I wanted to be 6ft tall like Grace Jones and Brigitte Nielsen when I grew up (child of the 80s!), but stopped at 5'6" Grin
DD1 is 5'10.5" and still growing (12yo)!

n0ne · 11/02/2018 16:09

5'3" - it's on the short side but I didn't notice it much until I moved to the Netherlands where I'm basically a midget!

TheFallenMadonna · 11/02/2018 16:10

5'11" and I love being tall.

BikeRunSki · 11/02/2018 16:10

5’8”

I like it. Nothing is ever too high or too low, too big or too small.

RoseWhiteTips · 11/02/2018 16:11

5’ 6 ins. I have had men say that is the perfect female height. I agree...

WickedLazy · 11/02/2018 16:13

I've only ever seen a few adults that were shorter than me, and never actually had a conversation with anyone shorter. Even my younger sister is a little bit taller. Have had loads of other short people (5ft), amazed to meet someone so much shorter than themselves.

Ex dp was 5ft 10, which apparently means ds should be about 5ft 7 (hopefully closer to his dads height).

DeputyBrennan · 11/02/2018 16:13

5’9” here, with a long body and short legs, and long (but very narrow) hands and feet. By the time I was 11 I was already about 5’8”. I didn’t mind too much being the tallest but was glad when some other girls caught up and even grew past me. I always felt very conscious about having size 8 feet, though and would squeeze my feet into too-small shoes until I was in my late teens.

I love wearing high heels now. If I’m not dog walking or exercising, I’ll be wearing shoes or boots with at least a 3 inch heel, which does make me ever so slightly taller than my fiancé, but neither of us give a damn about that.

RoseWhiteTips · 11/02/2018 16:14

OH is 6’ 2.

Saracen · 11/02/2018 16:14

5 foot seven. Just right. I can reach stuff up high. If I were much taller then buying clothes would be a PITA.

brizzledrizzle · 11/02/2018 16:22

6ft and the tallest in the house for now. My eldest is a lot shorter then me but my youngest is looking me in the eye already yet has only just gone yo high school!

StripySocksAndDocs · 11/02/2018 16:22

5'2". I'm shorter than my mother by 4", and 7" shorter than my dad.

I'm the shortest of my extended family on my mum's side, which is made up of tall women. My dad's side is mostly men but I win the crown of being shortest there too since my grandmother died.

I don't wear heels yet people never realise below average height.

Been told on many occasions i "don't look short". On numerous occasions it's been suggested it's because I've long legs for my height. Not sure really - my inside leg is half my height, that's not unusual I'd have thought.

Thunderthunderthundercatshooo · 11/02/2018 16:27

5ft 3. I'm quite happy with my height, I'm quite skinny too though so I guess I'm in proportion. The only time I wish I was taller is at concerts. I always without fail get some 6ft tall person stood right in front of me 10 seconds before the act comes out!!

Whiterabbitears · 11/02/2018 16:37

6ft tall, I hated it as a teen but have come to accept it as I've got older. Oddly I think other tall women look stunning but I don't think I do. DH is only 5 ft 9 so a titch compared to me, he prefers tall women and doesn't seem fazed that there's a height difference. I admit I would love to be with a strapping 6 ft 5 plus man but never mind.

BennySF · 11/02/2018 16:38

185cm (6ft I believe)
It's quite tall and in some occasions I feel a little bit awkward, but I simply need to look at my younger brothers to not feel so tall anymore Grin
And I'm always impressed when I seen a woman taller than I Shock

MiserableAsSin · 11/02/2018 16:39

5'0 and happy with it . I buy petite fitting clothes only so everything fits me fine . I quite like mistaken for being my 12 year olds big sister .

notthegumdropbuttons · 11/02/2018 16:40

5ft. I always loved being short ( except at gigs)

slinkysaluki · 11/02/2018 16:42

I'm 6ft. I wear heels too sometimes so about 6'2 then. It's always short men that comment. Little man syndrome I call it Confused

Mummaofboys · 11/02/2018 16:43

5’7” I like my height my husband is only 5’8” so means I don’t often wear heels.

MagicFajita · 11/02/2018 16:48

I'm just under 5 ft 2. It really bothered me as a teen so I wore cripplingly high heels all of the time. Couldn't care less as an adult thoughSmile
