I’m 18...Saturday night I would now be listening to Blue and DJ Sammy getting ready to go out to the local.
I’m wearing a two-tone halterneck top, leather look trousers (size 8.. sigh) with a tassle belt. Patent wedges and my hair straightened with my Babyliss steam straighteners! Gold eyeshadow like the one Kylie wears in the “On a Night Like This” video...

Necking a bottle of 20/20 and cheap red wine.

I’ll go out with about £8 in my pocket, dance to Fragma and S Club 7, drink loads of crap (free!) thanks to my school friend who works behind the bar then cadge a couple of Regals to smoke on my way homeGrin

19 living with my BF (now DH) watching a film (3 for £10 from Blockbusters!) eating a takeaway, knowing we'd definitely have sex later. I'm now 35 with 2 kids and knackered beyond belief Grin

TenancyTroublesAgain · 11/02/2018 18:16

Eating Sunday dinner :) or shiting it right back out again

themagicamulet · 11/02/2018 18:29

30, newly pg with ds1, buying totally unsuitable but beautiful top floor flat in central London which we plan to renovate. (Ds1 is now 6'2 and about to take GCSEs and we live in a detached house in an untrendy suburb we moved to 'for the schools'...)

OriginalGeordie · 11/02/2018 18:39

23 and had not long been living with my BF (now DH) in our rented flat. We probably would have been washing up after dinner and about to curl up on the sofa and watch a bit TV before heading to our local for a few drinks.

emma6776 · 11/02/2018 18:47

23, travelling around New Zealand with a pal from uni, before heading back to the UK to start my army basic training.

n0ne · 11/02/2018 18:57

I'm 23, in my 2nd year at uni, still married to XH (I know Blush) Of a Sunday night we'd probably be indoors playing Baldur's Gate or some other game, me as wingman, or watching a DVD (Spaced, Black Books, The Office, maybe a film like LotR or Gladiator or some manga). Prob would have been to the pub earlier for lunch with mates. Potentially could still be there...

Cleanermaidcook · 11/02/2018 19:01

I am 30. I have an 8 year old daughter, married to dh1, work in a warehouse and am pretty unhappy. However I have just applied to go to the local university - I get in, quit my job and 2 years later leave my unhappy marriage. Things got better.

MrsRonBurgundy · 11/02/2018 19:08

I’m 16. My mum thinks I’m at my friends house but I’m actually in the park with my friends drinking cider, smoking fags and kissing boys.
Having to sneak back in the house without being seen so she doesn’t get a whiff of me before I get in the shower and wash away the smell of cigs and booze. Good times

opinionatedfreak · 11/02/2018 19:27

I'm 24. I've been working as a doctor for 6 months. I love having some money and a shiny car. I'm struggling a little to adapt to the responsibilities and long hours.

Feb changeover has just happened so I've moved my worldly good from one Scottish DGH to another very rural one. In this job I spend most of my time in there rather than heading up to the city to stay with my parents. There is an amazing community in the accommodation at the hospital and I'm still in touch with lots of former colleagues.

So on a Saturday night I would either be working (we still did 24 hour on call in that job). Hanging out with my colleagues in my little shared house drinking wine and eating great food (we shared cooking and it was generally of a really high standard) or up in the big city having planned to go out for dinner and drinks with university friends but fallen asleep on my parents sofa which was sadly a fairly regular occurrence.

I was months away from getting a dream job in London and buying my first flat. You could still buy property in London then!

BeHappyMummy · 11/02/2018 19:41

7 years old.

I honestly can't remember what I would have been doing at that age.

Rebeccaslicker · 11/02/2018 19:47

I'm doing my master's degree in London and living in a big house share in Hammersmith with 4 other girls of around 22. It's Sunday night so we're probably eating away the hangover and watching shit tv (anyone who's lived in hammersmith will know "the kebab machine" - epic kebabs and chips up to about 3am! [and for those who don't know it, no, it's not a vending machine that dispenses kebabs, it's an actual takeaway 😂])

LinoleumBlownapart · 11/02/2018 19:51

25, recently married and living in the USA together in our little bedsit. Drinking too much and DH smoking too much weed. Plus lots of parties, road trips and eating out. It all came to a grinding halt in 2003 when our lives were taken over by nappies and Thomas the Tank Engine.

DakotaFanny · 11/02/2018 20:01

Newly married, age 26, pouring money into renovating a house that hadn’t been touched since 1930, drinking too much, sleeping too little, dreaming of babies, but enjoying our freedom.

Glad to say it all worked out!

Great thread!

TrudeauGirl · 09/10/2018 22:16

I'd be 12. I'd be playing on the Sims and writing Buffy The Vampire slayer fanfiction

Grin I was a cool kid!

Ithinkthatsenough · 09/10/2018 22:26

I’m 21, just getting over the loss of a parent, started a post grad course and looking for a way out of a horrible relationship.
Sport dominating my life on the brink of representing my country.
Moved back home, Enjoying life with friends, getting pissed and being young, old flame came back on the scene and showed me a way out... of said horrible relationship!

curious2 · 09/10/2018 22:29

I am 33 and looking after my ds, who is almost 1 Smile.

GuiltyPleasure · 09/10/2018 22:34

At home with my newborn DS 😀

Almostfifty · 09/10/2018 22:35

I was probably alone with our four DC as DH spent a lot of time working abroad then.

sophisticatedsarcasm · 09/10/2018 22:39

I’m 14, in year 10..... Saturday night... spent the afternoon at the local pub watching football. ( 3 family members worked there) then in the evening spent with my friends either at a house party or just chilling in the park with out of date Bacardi breezers 😊😊

FunnysInLaJardin · 09/10/2018 22:46

31, mid way through my solicitors finals. Loads of spare cash between us. Driving through France in our new sports car, lots of lovely meals out, clothes, bonuses. Life could not be better.

A few years later and it all came home to roost. Financial crash, huge mortgage, 2 kids, redundancy

The early 2000's were fab Grin

BTW its since all got a lot better! But wow, those days were like a different world.

MamaHechtick · 09/10/2018 22:52

I was 17 and with the love of my life, or so I thought. He was 23, had a car and raced bikes. I wasted a lot of my time and money with him but 2002 was definitely one of my favourite years.

I still see him around and he still behaves like he's 23.

HerRoyalNotness · 09/10/2018 22:57

29, Brisbane, Australia. Just joined a project which would ultimately get cancelled, leaving the staff to face an unemployed Christmas. Funnily, 14 years later I went on to work for the joint venture partner on that project in the country I live in now

GrandTheftWalrus · 09/10/2018 23:00

17, working full time and going out as often as I could. Also was counting down to being 18 and being all so happy I was back with my boyfriend who ended up being exh.

KeepingTheWormsQuiet · 09/10/2018 23:03

On this date in 2002 my first baby was 4 days old so I was probably in a state of shock and not sleeping much.

LoopyLemonade · 09/10/2018 23:08

Was still at school, 15. Probably on the computer chatting on MSN messenger right now.
