I’m 18...Saturday night I would now be listening to Blue and DJ Sammy getting ready to go out to the local.
I’m wearing a two-tone halterneck top, leather look trousers (size 8.. sigh) with a tassle belt. Patent wedges and my hair straightened with my Babyliss steam straighteners! Gold eyeshadow like the one Kylie wears in the “On a Night Like This” video...

Necking a bottle of 20/20 and cheap red wine.

I’ll go out with about £8 in my pocket, dance to Fragma and S Club 7, drink loads of crap (free!) thanks to my school friend who works behind the bar then cadge a couple of Regals to smoke on my way homeGrin

Very similar OP. I am 18, at my friends house drinking Bacardi breezers while getting ready to go to a club. Listening to garage music and dousing ourselves in perfume. Grin

Wow! What a great question. I was 21, and in my final year of university. I had recently met, but not yet got together with, my DH, with whom I have two dc but am now separated from Sad

On a Saturday night I would be in the pub on a ‘warm up’ for a night of clubbing, dressed as a Britney Spears clone with no coat on despite sub-zero temperature in order to have an extra 50p to spend on Smirnoff Ices.

@GunslingerPie well I've just read your post and thought legend. That's a kinda character that can never be buried under muthahood chores etc.
my 2002 wouldn't have been much diff and there are days right now when I'm left flabbergasted by current life, left thinking who what where am I?! BUT back then (and I still think there's potential for a midlife resurrection (/crisis) I'd be working in sales, earning a bit of comish, having a nice tidy abode (tidy?! What's that?) I'd be donning some get up from river island, short skirt low top, heck yas, getting well lively on some shorts and a lot of lager, dancing to born slippy like my life depended on it (still do this occasionally much to the admiration ((disappointment)) of my family ) whilst slinging back Sambucas, dabbling with some Marlborough reds and probably pretty ok with some drugs of some variety and wandering home with some 'amazing person' (under the same influence) admiring the glittery nature of the paint of the white lines painted in a road under moonlight. And thinking this is good. This is very good. The irony is you have kiddos and they're the best thing that's ever happened right? But every now and again oh for those glittery moonlight lines with a skinful and no responsibility. I also loved jacket spuds and that's all I could afford to eat. Add beer. Baby had back. Back I was happy with mind 😄❤️

31 and 7 months pregnant with first child, DD. Probably watching Pop Idol and voting for Will Young who I had a secret crush on. Blissfully unaware that he would never be interested in me!!

  1. Had my own house and career. Earning money, having a fabulous time. No boyfriend or ties. Designer clothes, out nearly every weekend living it up.

    Well, that was depressing 😳

I'm 11. I would be in portugal in my late grandads timeshare with my parents and my grandma. Or possibly we swapped it for a different place that year? I can't remember! Likely to have been walking back from the restaurant after dinner begging mum to let me have a friendship bracelet & take a load back for my friends.

Hilariously I was searching for 'best cheap package holidays' last week and the 1st result? That very same hotel in Portugal! Um, no thanks - I know the place inside out even though I haven't been there for 13 years!!

I'd be 17, in year 13. Getting ready to go out at my friends house. Either drinking neat vodka or dropping a pill. Would alternate every week. Either way, would dance, chat to strangers, snog a few randoms.

Low rise baggy jeans, tiniest top I could find, and about 2 stone lighter than I am now.

Loved 2002. Probably my favourite year.

I'm 17 and desperately hoping to get into town! I've been drinking round a mates house most likely smirnoff ices listening to JT, 50 Cent and Pharrell in most definitely a sparkly top and denim skirt! I think I'm huge at a size 12 but as a now questionable 16 I know in hindsight it wasn't fat at all...

Getting ready to move overseas, I think my flights were a week from now. So probably would have been at one of my million leaving drinks. Just a short 2 year trip I thought..... I’m still here 16 years later.

  1. On my way to a club to take pills with my friends. On to a party afterwards where we'd have fun, smoking dope til the sun came up. Best days of my life.

This time in 2002 I'd be hopelessly miserable dreading my upcoming wedding. Wish I could go back in time and have a word with myself!

I would have been 21 two years before I met my now DH. This time on a Saturday night I would probably be either at my friends flat with a half bottle of vodka or at Legends, (or was it already Opium by then??) Before heading down to The Mission at 11pm to dance until 3am whilst looking for someone to take home with me.

16 years ago today I was probably drinking cocktails, eating curry & planning my fry up hangover cure for tomorrow morning! Happy Days!!!

15, hanging out with mates and smoking weed, bringing Archers into school for a laugh, having Chunky Highlights, huge gold hoops, massive fur lined coat, huge BT flip phone complete with pull out aerial. Spent weekends roaming the streets in the small hours with my friends generally misbehaving (nothing malicious, just wondering about!)

Listening to NSYNC, Nickelback, Sugababes, S Club 7, Busted, Atomic Kitten!

I was just about to turn 22, had an 18 month old son who's dad I split up with 6 months previous. I had met dp 3 months ago, and had fallen in love. He was planning my 21st Birthday party! I was also in my second year of uni! Had 50/50 share with ds dd, so alternate week ends we would go out to the local with all of our friends. Miss those days so much!!

Mine's a downer; Early feb 2002 I was six weeks pregnant with what would have been my first child had I not eventually decided to have an abortion I wasn't sure about. Instantly regretted it and spent years battling depression and self harm. Worst year of my life so far tbh. Now have 2dc I adore but still think sometimes what might have been even though I have come to terms with it.

I was 29 and busy planning my forthcoming wedding in June 2002.
Saturday nights we started staying in to save money for the wedding, no take away or anything.

I would have been on stage in a young farmers pantomime competition. We had literally just got back up and running again after foot and mouth devastated us in 2001.

It was the first time things started to feel like they were getting back to normal after a horrific year.

  1. Going through a rough patch with my boyfriend, bankrupt, working 2 jobs, lost and wondering what I wanted out of life.

I married that boyfriend the following year and it's our 15th anniversary next week. He was worth it and life is just fine.
