The Scottish Government's consultation on changes to the GRA closes on 1st March 2018.

The rest of the UK will likely follow Scotland's decision, so this is your chance to make your views known.

For those who don't yet understand the risks to women from changes to the Gender Recognition Act, please read this document. It is pretty straightforward

leyaterra.wordpress.com/2018/02/06/gender-the-gra-and-womens-rights/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Then please complete the Scottish Government's consultation.

You do NOT have to be Scottish or live in Scotland to complete it.

The brilliant Dr Nic Williams wrote a guide to the consultation

fairplayforwomen.com/scottish-consultation/

PLEASE complete it and pass to friends/family

BUMP

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 10/02/2018 19:36

So anyone born male doesn't get to compete in a women's class where this matters

But this is already happening

specialsubject · 10/02/2018 19:39

That's how it should be. No males in female classes. No idea why this blatantly stupid idea is happening.

Sorry lads, you can't give birth either.

Jux · 10/02/2018 19:58

You know, this is the only issue that has ever made me wish I hadn't had a daughter. Sometimes, I feel so hopeless and helpless I almost with I hadn't had a child.

I have been a second-class, unimportant person my whole life simply because I'm female, actually born fucking female. I've fought endlessly to ensure thatbeing treated differently doesn't happen, that I'm as important as the men around me, as my brothers were, as anyone else. I'm as good as anyone and a darn sight better than some.

But I'm now old, disabled, and tired. Just fucking tired of it.

SuitedandBooted · 10/02/2018 20:14

Exactly Jux, I am getting really worried for my daughter, - I don't think that is being melodramatic. When you have men like this;

twitter.com/daniellemuscato/status/839611526998818817?lang=en

saying they are women with "lady dicks", (and their insanity is validated), all rational thought is going to Hell in a handcart.

Geronimoleapinglizards · 10/02/2018 20:30

I've just added my voice. Glad to have had the chance to do so. I hope they listen.

LarryUnderwood · 10/02/2018 20:41

Done. Thanks OP.

Done, glad to have the chance to give my views

I have just completed this. It felt very satisfying. I wonder if all responses will actually be read though...

SuitedandBooted · 10/02/2018 21:23

Can I ask everyone to have a look at this thread too, and email their responses to Swim England, please?

This is a breach of the Equality Act, and (apparently) no impact assessment has been done re women’s access to exercise, and the affect it will have, particularly for women from ethnic minorities.

It basically boils down to forcing women to accept that any bloke who self-identifies as a woman IS a woman, and has the right to use women's changing facilities. And yes, I know it cuts both ways, and transmen can go in the Gents, but frankly I think the chances of any transman (who has not had surgery or hormones) stripping of in front of a load of blokes is limited.....

Hi leyat

Elletorro · 10/02/2018 21:54

Sorry posted too soon.

Am compiling your blog post and the fair play for women info plus transtrender stuff into a response taking the perspective of a single sex girls school.

Aiming to have a pretty comprehensive document with explanations of surrounding legislation ( am an equality act nerd) and also suggested responses which I will be emailing out to every bursar of every girls school i can think of.

There will be a fair amount of plagiarism as frankly I have little kids and not much spare time to draft anything original - fairly brutal editing to keep it manageable. May be rather ambitious as I’m hours in and haven’t got much spare/ down time.

Is this ok? Will credit you.

SuitedandBooted · 10/02/2018 22:25

Hi Elletoro, I will look forward to reading that, (I assume you are posting it here?)
If possible, I think it is something that should go out to all co-ed schools, as well as girls-only. Don't forget that the delightful Lily Madigan threatened to sue his school in order to gain access to the spaces reserved for girls, and they caved in. I think it would be really helpful if schools can find a way to protect themselves and their pupils from these demands.
As an aside, it's depressing to read the comments praising the support from other pupils. He got (supposedly) 200 signatures on his petition, but there are over 1000 pupils at that school!

leyat · 10/02/2018 22:37

Hi, yeah my blog post is there as a resource, so please feel free to copy as you like, I wanted to make things easier for people, no need to credit me at all, it's all just there for people to use as they wish :)

IvorHughJarrs · 11/02/2018 00:15

Done. I am concerned that to improve the rights of a very small group, mostly born male and raised with male privilege, they are going to disadvantage large numbers of women, children and the gay community who are already disadvantaged to start with

confusednotcom2 · 11/02/2018 06:47

The DM has a article re the women’s only pond at the Heath. Obvs some depressing comments but the top rated comment is actually sensible & in agreement with the “radical feminists”.

Huntinginthedark · 11/02/2018 09:09

Bump

SuitedandBooted · 11/02/2018 09:30

confusednotcom2

But the whole tone of the article is "Feminists have to share now...". and most of the comments are of the "Serve em right!" variety.

Why open the article with the sentence "Feminists outraged etc.."? Why not say "Women members of Hampstead Ponds etc..."?

SuitedandBooted · 11/02/2018 09:31

Rosieposy4 · 11/02/2018 09:41

Done, thanks op

sexnotgender · 11/02/2018 10:05

Bump, filled it in a while ago but will maybe go back and add more comprehensive answers in places.

confusednotcom2 · 11/02/2018 10:08

SuitedandBooted

yes your right but I thought it was interesting that even with that negative slant the top comment was supportive.

CappuccinoCake · 11/02/2018 10:27

Done but not arriculately enough . Makes it all so terrifyingly real.
