The best flavour of jam

Shop:

  1. Blackcurrant
  2. Seedless raspberry
  3. Strawberry

Homemade:

  1. Damson
  2. Gooseberry
  3. Strawberry

DC contend that strawberry tops both lists Hmm

Clearly I am NBU. Strawberry jam is good jam but definitely not best.

Bonne Mamman Cherries and Berrries. I love it.

carbuckety · 06/02/2018 20:06

Mirabelle ( from France but oh so delicious). Rhubarb. Home made raspberry. Home made plum

BikeRunSki · 06/02/2018 20:07

DS will not eat jam at all
DD will only eat strawberry, shop bought or homemade
DH likes his aunt’s marmalade, but not his mum’s (his mum doesn’t know!)
I like all posh shop or homemade preserves. One of the TAs at the DC’s school makes loads of different flavour jams and chutneys for the school fair every summer.
All are delicious!

I'm not sure I've ever eaten apricot jam. I know I once refused to eat my own birthday cake because it had been sandwiched with apricot jam, rather than a proper jam (see above).

Best jam I've ever tasted was on holiday in Mauritius - homemade pineapple jam on freshly-baked croissants. Utterly amazing.

crackerjacket · 06/02/2018 20:08

Raspberry

Veronicat · 06/02/2018 20:08

My own mixed summer fruit jam made with blueberries, blackcurrants, strawberries, and raspberries.

crackerjacket · 06/02/2018 20:08

Ooh, fig is good tho

crackerjacket · 06/02/2018 20:09

Jumbleberry, veronicat

ILikeyourHairyHands · 06/02/2018 20:09

Depends what with, strawberry with scones, apricot with croissants, blackcurrant with toast.

UsernameInvalid66 · 06/02/2018 20:12

I'm not that keen on strawberry. I love bramble jelly and apricot jam, and I actually quite like mixed fruit too (which I think is usually mainly plum).

Best ever may possibly have been apricot and lemon that my mum used to make. She's no longer physically capable of making jam and I miss it.

toffee1000 · 06/02/2018 20:15

I like all of them pretty much if I’m honest! Don’t like marmalade (isn’t that different to jam?) as it’s too bitter.

Anasnake · 06/02/2018 20:16

Damson - always !

Whitecurrants · 06/02/2018 20:17

Not quite jam but Jersey Black Butter. My friend brought me some - heaven!

sparklefarts · 06/02/2018 20:18

Fig jam
Fig jam

And more fig jam. Oh yes

Rebeccaslicker · 06/02/2018 20:20

Peanut butter.

Fruit jam can go in the bin where it belongs!

tentative3 · 06/02/2018 20:20

Blackcurrant. Obviously.

Home made lemon curd is a definite contender for the toast topping title but commercial and even a lot of farmers market type lemon curd is way too sweet.

OutyMcOutface · 06/02/2018 20:21

Blackcurrant always

workshyfop · 06/02/2018 20:22

Rhubarb and ginger for toast.

Sgtmajormummy · 06/02/2018 20:24

This stuff is amazing. All of their jams are super fruity and made with grape juice instead of sugar. This one is just right for an effortless raspberry coulis over ice cream, panna cotta, rolypoly pudding...
Or thickly sliced freshly made white toast.

I make Mumsnet apricot jam in Summer (10 mins in the microwave) but only when the fruit’s so cheap and abundant that I’ve run out of better ideas.

Rhubarb and ginger, especially if my mum made it.

Raspberry, with seeds.

Blackcurrant. Not blackberry.
Fig.

Ginger marmalade.

If it counts, lemon curd beats them all.

pinkmagic1 · 06/02/2018 20:29

Figit jam, closely followed by ginger.

pinkmagic1 · 06/02/2018 20:29

Fig rather!

flumpybear · 06/02/2018 20:30

Raspberry or plum ❤️❤️❤️

PorklessPie · 06/02/2018 20:30

Homemade blackberry

Shop raspberry seedless
