The best flavour of jam

Shop:

  1. Blackcurrant
  2. Seedless raspberry
  3. Strawberry

Homemade:

  1. Damson
  2. Gooseberry
  3. Strawberry

DC contend that strawberry tops both lists Hmm

Clearly I am NBU. Strawberry jam is good jam but definitely not best.

Peach! I can never find it though.

MrsHathaway · 06/02/2018 19:53

I haven't had bread since 2016 but in my dreams I eat a proper thick slice of seeded granary with a generous layer of salted butter and a good dollop of blackcurrant jam. Something about the way the blackcurrants burst as you eat them.

Homemade jam is pure joy. I make mincemeat too but fewer people want it in a sandwich.

I have my blackcurrant jam in yoghurt nowadays. It is bliss in Skyr.

Tomato and chilli.

MrsHathaway · 06/02/2018 19:54

Er, is marmalade strictly jam? I know it is in German, but I am not German.

Raspberry (with seeds)
Apricot

Grumpbum · 06/02/2018 19:55

Strawberry
Gooseberry
Damson

Dalesgirl16 · 06/02/2018 19:55

I wish I could give up bread op! It's my downfall.

Homemade jam has to be fig or strawberry.

Shop bought, I love marmalade or apricot!

Grumpbum · 06/02/2018 19:55

Oh and ginger

IncyWincyGrownUp · 06/02/2018 19:56

Raspberry.

Both lists end there.

Praisebe · 06/02/2018 19:56

St dalfour strawberry or blueberry jam is a favourite in our household anything else is met with uproar Grin

PerfectlyDone · 06/02/2018 19:56

Wild bramble jam
Strawberry and rhubarb jam

Quince jam - yum!

MrsHathaway · 06/02/2018 19:56

Tomato and chilli.

Hold up. That's either chutney or inedible. Let's define our terms as minimum 1/3 sugar, the rest fruit, and no vinegar, m'kay?

Grin

Blackcurrant and Raspberry are equal first.

Everyone else is entitled to an opinion but they are wrong.

woodlanddreamer · 06/02/2018 19:59

Anything other than blackcurrant for me, thank you. Particularly love plum, strawberry or apricot. And my late mum's lemon curd.

IlikemyTeahot · 06/02/2018 19:59

homemade black cherry

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 06/02/2018 20:00

Raspberry and loganberry

Elliemayclampett · 06/02/2018 20:00

Raspberry ( no bits). No contest.

Firesuit · 06/02/2018 20:01

Apricot.

welcomehome · 06/02/2018 20:02

Apricot every time.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 06/02/2018 20:03

Blackcurrant

liz70 · 06/02/2018 20:03

Shop bought - black cherry jam
Home made - crab apple or quince jelly

LadyMetroland · 06/02/2018 20:03

Blackcurrant - on toast
Apricot - in croissants

Raspberry a close second in both categories

liz70 · 06/02/2018 20:03

"Bullace jam"

Que? Confused

jaseyraex · 06/02/2018 20:03

Anything other than blackcurrant! Cannot stand the things in any form. I like strawberry jam but raspberry is my favourite, closely followed by apricot.

ISpeakJive · 06/02/2018 20:04

I wonder if anyone has tried a jam made from the Yellow Hawthorn? Very popular in the Med and absolutely delicious.
