Adult males can now shower with girls at swimming pools

Swim England has issued new guidance about trans swimmers - link here. Some of it is sensible- I'm sure trans people can feel self-conscious swimming, so trans-only sessions are a good idea (though of course trans people should be able to use the pool at other times too).

What's disturbing though is the section on Environment, which says that trans people should use whichever changing room they prefer. 85% of men who identify as trans have had no surgery, so this means adult men showering & changing with women and girls. How can this be allowed under child safeguarding rules? And what about all the women who will feel unable to swim if they have to change with men - or whose religion does not allow them to do so?

AIBU to think that everyone's needs & comfort should have been considered?

"messed up stats. "

The crimes against women and girls in the UK are down to "messed up stats" not violent horrible men whodathunkit.

I would put money on men being more likely to be a victim of a male sex offender than a female although I have nothing to hand.

None of the priests, politicians, celebarities, sports club people were women, were they. Men men men men. Sorry if the fact of male sexual offending against boys upsets some people's ideas that it's women doing it all over the place.

UpABitLate · 06/02/2018 19:58

Are women also killing men in large numbers but not getting detected for some weird reason?

God what a fucking stupid post.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 06/02/2018 19:58

Also the stats are kind of irrelevant to me. I don't want naked men we don't kniw changing next to my daughters.

UpABitLate · 06/02/2018 19:59

"if it's as common for men then why are they all so surprised when women tell them about even one or two of the things that have happened? How come they don't say "yeah it is bad isn't it, I had a man rubbing his erection against me on the bus when I was a lad too, it's horrible isn't it". Hmmmm I wonder."

Ooops.

Should say "I had a woman rubbing her cunt against me on the bus when I was a lad too".

Yes this is very common indeed.

BigBaboonBum · 06/02/2018 20:01

This is hilarious. Thanks for the laughs.

UpABitLate · 06/02/2018 20:02

Yes sexual violence committed against women and girls, and boys and men, by men, is hilarious.

You're not really a very nice person are you.

Lovelyusername · 06/02/2018 20:02

I love this, the swimming pool must educate women who have decided to chose a women’s only session that it’s ok for a man to join them.

2. When offering single-sex sessions in your timetable, remember that you must enable trans swimmers to attend the sessions they would like to according to their gender identity, which may take some initial support and some education with other centre users.

Why ? Why do we have to be educated? Can’t we just have single sex sessions ?!

Pawpainting · 06/02/2018 20:04

Yes, clearly there are thousands of murderous women on the loose who are criminal masterminds who manage to evade detection. They must also frame innocent men for their crimes quite often. That's the only way to explain how there are so few violent criminals that are female. Ffs Hmm

crazyforpiggies · 06/02/2018 20:05

Our local swimming pool only has one changing area for males and females to use. Its all stalls and I have no issue with it.

PidgeonPodge · 06/02/2018 20:06

What is it again? Two women a week being murdered by their partners in the UK I believe.

Virtually no sexual offenses committed by women, compared to the mountain of ones committed by men to women and other men.

NAMALT is meaningless to someone who has already suffered at the hands of a sexual predator. Especially when the discussion concerns some of their safety being taken away for no reason other than to satisfy the desires of a growing minority of noisy perverts.

MrsJoshDun · 06/02/2018 20:07

I was once at a swimming pool late at night and the only person there when a naked man came out the changing rooms and walked up and down the poolside. He then went back in the changing room (male one).

I thought he’d buggered off and got out the pool and went in the jacuzzi. He came back (wearing trunks), got in next to me and started having a wank.

I obviously left at that point. But I’m still angry and upset about what happened. How fucking dare he do that to me.

It’s pervy fuckwits like this who will take advantage of such rule changes. They will say they’re Trans when they’re not. At least I had a safe haven of a women’s changing room to run to.

bigbaboonbum do piss off sweetie, you’re trying to gaslight us and it’s highly unwelcome.

In any case, no one has time to chat to you, we’re all out raping and molesting men.

And when women spoke out about #MeToo everyone would have been quick to agree that there is a widespread sexual harassment issue going on. Rather than doubting it happens in the way that women say

And when women report rape or sexual assault to the police, everyone would believe them, because they know from their own experiences how common it is and how most people have a "there but by the grace of god" story of a near miss. Rather than suggesting that women regularly lie in order to cover up having sex that they regretted or to smear a man's reputation

And when celebrities and sports stars are reported as being rapists and sexual offenders, everyone would agree that they have no place being held up as a role model and that they should lose their advertising contracts and studios should stop hiring them. Rather than minimising the allegations because they are a bit of a genius and it's all a bit of fuss about nothing.

Hmm
Dipitydoda · 06/02/2018 20:11

I don’t want a bloke in a changing room where I’m naked! If that person has a pensis it is a man use the male changing rooms or take up jogging!

Myunicornfliessideways · 06/02/2018 20:11

It’s also a big issue that sexual assault done by women (especially assault done to males) isn’t taken seriously, one of the things that stems from this is messed up stats. Just because men are MUCH more likely get reported, caught and charged doesn’t mean it’s 98% of men doing the harassing.

Whataboutery. Which is a strategy basically aimed to silence and put down women when they are talking about things that affect biological women and to pull the conversation back to men and reframe the conversation to be about men.

Not a nice tactic, and not relevant here.

MrsJoshDun · 06/02/2018 20:14

Thank you Ova. I think I’m more upset about it now than I when it happened. And really in the grand scheme of things it’s not a massive thing. But it’s the exertion of power/control by a stranger which is more annoying than the actual penis flashing. I didn’t even report him and wish I had but I was quite young and embarrassed.

Terfinater · 06/02/2018 20:16

Ugh just fuck off with this shit.

My local pool has struggled to stay open. This will finish it off for good. I wont be going anymore.

Twice lateley ive had to tolerate a typical looking man in the womens toilets.

feellikeanalien · 06/02/2018 20:21

I think my head is going to explode! I have quite clearly somehow entered a parallel universe. "A woman with a penis". WTF!!!!!!

Dipitydoda · 06/02/2018 20:24

Well my gym can now allow me to take my DS into the ladies family changing area when he’s 8 presumably now! Or will I need to stick him ina dress for that?

You know the more I think of it the more I think it is absolutely imperative that women take over all positions of power immediately. Because obviously we are the more intelligent. Men who rape and murder mostly end up as crime statistics, women on the other hand with our innate cunning and brilliance apparently avoid all detection. We are fabulous really.

It's sad how many people can't imagine a different swimming pool setup to their local one.

Not all pools have unisex changing. Can people really not work out the difference between a man in a unisex changing room and a man in a female changing room?

You expect men to be in a unisex changing room. You don't expect men in a female changing room and nor should you.

user1471426142 · 06/02/2018 20:42

A few months ago when I was in a toddler swim class, one lady (perfectly able bodied before someone asks)seemingly needed her husband in the small, cubicle free changing room to help change the child. I had to say that I was unfortable and ask him to leave. He seemed surprised I wasn’t totally comfortable stripping in front of him. I then made a complaint to the organisers that he was in the ladies and they were appalled and spoke to them. Seemingly now I wouldn’t be able to challenge that as he could just say he identified as a she. And it would be me that needs ‘educating’ rather than him.

If all swimming pools were unisex then they wouldn’t be a problem but lots are not. The message I take from all of this is that women’s needs don’t matter. The previous thread about Women’s Aid was the most alarming I’ve read on here . Soon there will be no-where left for vulnerable women to feel safe. That can’t be right. I appreciate that many trans people will have needs that need to be taken into account but it seems a bit too easy to self-identify and that brings about risks the legislation will be exploited.
