to think that Amazon Prime is a waste of money

I ordered two items to be delivered to a building which is staffed 24 hours a day, the driver claimed not to be able to deliver them so I complained to Amazon who told me this:

"As our carriers deliver a large number of orders in a geographical pattern, in most cases, the carrier might not be able to deliver the order on the same day of delivery attempt and it seems that the carrier was not able to deliver this order by yesterday.
Due to this, they have delivered this order today with high priority."

In other words, the delivery on the same day or next day with Prime means nothing if they have given their drivers too much work.

Prime for me has always been a life save for things for work. And binge watching Sons of Anarchy for the 50th time isn't too bad either!

Bluelady · 05/02/2018 13:17

We've never had a late delivery. It's definitely good value for us (especially for me as my husband pays for it!).

FannyWisdom · 05/02/2018 13:17

Prime covers loads of stuff so yabu.
The ndd has been crap since they started Amazon logistics but if you complain they normally Chuck a free month in.

The prime fee is a steal, just for Vikings and Floki alone.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 05/02/2018 13:18

I too have nothing bad to say about Amazon Prime and I pay for it!

NerrSnerr · 05/02/2018 13:19

We don’t have any delivery problems and I find Prime TV great. It’s not a waste of money for us personally.

brizzledrizzle · 05/02/2018 13:19

We've had this happen three time now with deliveries to the building mentioned in my OP. Amazon have even told me before that they are unable to find this large building despite it being one of the largest in the area and despite containing Amazon lockers so I'd hope they would know where it is.

Currently I have had 4 monthly extensions to my Prime because of their mistakes so it's good value on that basis!

I've got 6 months free prime student so it's excellent value for me!

BarbarossaHeartie · 05/02/2018 13:20

I only used them as a trial but can't fault them at all was great service think only didn't turn up once which compared to myhermes etc is amazing

FannyWisdom · 05/02/2018 13:20

Yep. Order enough for them to be late once a month = free Floki.

RadioGaGoo · 05/02/2018 13:20

Sorry, I'm another vote for Amazon Prime, which has got me out of some really last minute gift situations.

Auspiciouspanda · 05/02/2018 13:21

I've cancelled my membership as hardly anything comes in one day anymore and they don't do weekend delivery anymore so it's just better to order free delivery to a locker

Blackbutler86 · 05/02/2018 13:21

I love prime, I have had a few things that came after two days instead of next day as expected but generally I have no complaints. I get my food shop using Amazon Fresh which is free delivery for prime members and I use prime video so definitely worth it for me.

gamerwidow · 05/02/2018 13:22

Love amazon prime fortunately I’ve never had any problems with deliveries though. I’d buy the subscription just to see Outlander so all the other bits are a bonus.
I listen to Amazon Music everyday and enjoy the readers library too.

theunsure · 05/02/2018 13:22

Not a waste of money here either.
Everything always comes on time and we use the Prime TV too.

We live rurally and although I might pay £1-5 more for some items, when I offset the cost in time and fuel of driving into the nearest town or city (2 hour round trip minimum) it's very good value.

toomuchtooold · 05/02/2018 13:23

Probably depends where you are. We get next day almost every time, and as we live in the middle of nowhere we order a lot of stuff online.

Plus the amount of Lego Friends and Peppa Pig my kids have watched probably justifies the Prime price alone

Moomintroll85 · 05/02/2018 13:24

It's worth it for Ragnar Vikings alone. Plus all the kids tv. I've also had every delivery arrive when it should so can't really complain.

UpABitLate · 05/02/2018 13:24

I wish it wasn't so good as I feel guilty about it because of the tax thing

But it's so convenient, combo of TV, music and deliveries is great for our family.

I use kindle as well now I come to think of it.

UpABitLate · 05/02/2018 13:25

Although the kindle bit is unrelated to prime got a bit carried away there!

It's an incredible platform really.

Just wish they'd pay their fucking taxes.

FannyWisdom · 05/02/2018 13:25

I don't even mind the randomness of subscribe and save delivery.
It's a bit like guerrilla shopping.
I love to watch the delivery guy humping the sack of cat litter and biscuits and the bog rolls up the path.

We have prime now round ere which is even quicker.

Camomila · 05/02/2018 13:30

I love it (also have 6m free amazon student).

I like not having to get the bus into town with a toddler mainly.

MissMooMoo · 05/02/2018 13:33

I have recently ordered a few things that say eg "delivered by tomorrow 6pm" or whatever, received confirmation email for that date and then when it hasn't arrived and I go to check under my orders it says it will be coming the following day. Really annoying.

Kazzyhoward · 05/02/2018 13:35

Nope, it works for me. Yes, the odd delivery has been delayed by a day or so, but the vast majority are delivered on the promised day. I try to only order stuff that comes via Prime and try to avoid things sent directly from other sellers due to haphazard deliveries - had a few too many things sent by other sellers which have taken a week or two to arrive.

FannyWisdom · 05/02/2018 13:36

MissMM I hope you sent the whiney where's my stuff e-mail to customer service?
For each delivery?

Don't feel churlish, they are harsh with drivers so need pulling up when its Amazon stock.

FluffyWuffy100 · 05/02/2018 13:38

I'm thinking about canceling.

I don't use the TV or music. Hardly anything actually comes next day any more and you don't get stuff on a Saturday.

So basically order on a Thursday and it arrives on a Monday! That is just standard, don''t need to pay prime for that.
