When I heard that Katie Hopkins was heading down to South Africa, I nearly through up. I felt sick to the stomach. And then I thought, well if she's going for a Safari, it's not so bad. ( we do encourage tourism to help with conservation and jobs).
It turned out that that was not the case. Ms Hopkins visit to South Africa is to make a documentary for the farmers, " who are being terrorised by the blacks and being robbed of their rightful land". ( words by Ms Hopkins).

A petition was started to refuse her entry, however for some reason, she made it.
This morning I heard she collapsed after taking some drug, lord knows for what. She was saved by health workers some of them BLACK South Africans. I wonder what she thought of that!

For a woman who referred to black people as roaches among other sickening racist garbage to enter South Africa and speak and act as she wishes is quite frankly sickening.

I am angry and I know I speak for many. Angry

She is no worse than Diane Abbot or Jeremy Corbyn.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 05/02/2018 05:54

An interesting thing to do, after her stance on those who take illegal drugs.
(Oh look another new one.)
I don't particularly want her back here either.

RadioGaGoo · 05/02/2018 06:04

You are such a yawn Studlee.

JAME0 · 05/02/2018 06:18

I know someone whose family managed to escape their farm before they were killed but said the farm has just been abandoned ever since. So, it doesn't look like a case of reclaiming land but persecuting white people for the sake of it.

larrygrylls · 05/02/2018 06:20

There is little justification for seizing farms by force. Look at Zimbabwe. Yes, the history of SA is one of exploitation but two wrongs do not make a right.

Nelson Mandela understood this in his ‘Rainbow Nation’.

A country needs a rule of law. This can include (temporary) laws to right old injustices but does not include terror or forced illegal seizure.

It would be a tragedy we’re SA to go the way of Zim. The people seizing farms are rarely anyone with any kind of even quasi-legal claim on the land but mostly those related or friendly with those in power.

Butterfly I corrected my grammar mistake if you read the thread properly.
And why am I a racist because I said sometimes white people suffer racism as well.
Please don't judge me when you know fuck all about me.

Okay time to clarify a bit about South African history as some people’s understanding is bloody ludicrous. The Cape was originally colonised by the Dutch, there were of course original inhabitants in the form of the Xhoisan group as well as various black tribes who tended to be nomadic.
The English then invaded and took over the Cape Colony, a lot of the Dutch settlers were deeply unhappy with British subjugation and moved north along the coast to what is now Kwazulu-Natal. English invaded again and the Boers went North and founded two republics, the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. During this entire process they had numerous conflicts with local black tribes.

These tribes were also on the move due to the Difeqane, which was due to King Shaka of the Zulus going on a land grab and various other tribes fled and dispersed. So there was a lot of warfare and a huge state of flux generally at that time, death toll due to tribal warfare in total estimated at millions.

The English then decided to grab the Transvaal after gold was discovered which caused the Boer War. The English eventually won after their scorched earth policy of burning farmlands and interring women and children who died in great numbers due to poor nutrition and sanitation.

South Africa became the Union of South Africa in 1910 and the Republic of South Africa in 1961, and finally became a democracy in 1994.

A few further points. White people are not being murdered in high numbers. The murder rate for whites is disproportionately low, due to staying in safer areas and being able to afford private security. The farm murders are a bit of an exception. There is no clarity on whether or not these are politically motivated. Farms are isolated and farmers and known to have guns, making them a target. There are personal motivations for some of the attacks for instance by employees or former employees. Many white Afrikaners do believe the attacks are orchestrated and are genocide.

The South African political landscape is hugely complex. It’s a country with a very troubled history, disparate groups with little in common culturally or linguistically, extreme poverty and inequality. It’s still hugely tribal in outlook. It has also had a very corrupt and incompetent president for the last nine years although that is now heading towards resolution.

Oh and Katie Hopkins you're a fud.

BashStreetKid · 05/02/2018 08:29

I love Katie, she says how it is ....get over it! All this pc, lefty rhetoric bores me

Hi, Katie, hope you've learnt to keep off the ketamine. Any chance of coming up with an argument and some evidence in favour of your views rather than slinging insults around?

VanillaSugar · 05/02/2018 08:41

You beat me to it bashstreetkid Grin

I suppose eventually somebody will just murder her because she is so extreme. She has a rather sad kind of lonely desperation and has been sacked from The Sun, LBC and The Daily Mail all in the last year. Her children regularly receive death threats yet she persists in waging this rather illusory 'crusade' against 'leftism and the liberal media' (which means anyone who is not ultra-right).

Really, we should pity her. I fully expect her to be murdered, eventually, by an individual or group whom she antagonised a little too much - the poor, Muslims, women, public sector workers, feminists, gay people, foreigners, the BAME community......oh, look, that's just about everyone.

Marina Hyde wrote a great article about her a while back and saw no difference between Katie Hopkins' extremism and the so called extremism KH was attacking. 'Abu Hopkins' she called her. Suits her, don't you think? I mean, calling for the 'final solution' does put you a little bit in mind of Hitler doesn't it? All nice extremists together. I'm sure Katie has struck up a nice little friendship with the family of Eugene Terreblanche in sunny SA.

VanillaSugar · 05/02/2018 08:45

Thank you for your post maxthemartian. I read that it was the English who developed the use of concentration camps during the Boer War (for women and children, as already alluded to).

Lalliella · 05/02/2018 09:08

bluebells1 in what way? I would be interested to hear.

SheSparkles · 05/02/2018 09:16

There was a point that I privately thought that no one could possibly be as vile as KH and what she spouted couldn’t possibly be her actual opinions, but carefully done to make a name for herself in the media.
I was so very very wrong.

BMW6 · 05/02/2018 09:36

Very educating post maxthemartian thanks

VanillaSugar · 05/02/2018 10:07

Do you remember the summer of 97 with the hysteria surrounding Princess Diana? I always thought "How is this going to end?' The answer, sadly, was badly.

So, how is it going to end for Katie H, who is the architect of her own destruction?

Lekkergirl · 05/02/2018 12:33

maxthemartian Thank you for that piece.

She is an epic arsehole of the highest order.

Whereas you are impressively erudite and quite the entertaining individual, yes?

Katie Hopkins is undoubtedly clever, she has pretty much made herself off her "I tell it how it is" crap. I'm not convinved she actually even believes it, just seems to get some sort of sick pleasure from being offensive and ignorant.

Odious woman.

So, if I was to substitute the OP's title with Kate McGann, would Mumsnet have removed this thread now? Any thoughts Mumsnet Admin?

CrazyExIngenue · 05/02/2018 15:51

I suppose eventually somebody will just murder her because she is so extreme

Unlikely. The problem with being "libtard snowflakes* is that we generally don't kill people just for disagreeing with our point of view...sometimes this is unfortunate...

callmeadoctor · 05/02/2018 15:51

My point is that to post such a horrible thread about anybody seems not to follow the guidelines of Mumsnet i.e personal attacks. It could be anybodies name at the top of this thread. Sad
