Friend wants to come over ...aibu to say no?

I’ve never had many friends.
I’m 32 now and just made friends about 6 months ago with a woman who I get on with and is funny.
We had a night out a month ago and had fun.
She’s asked me to go out next weekend and I told her I didn’t really have cash.
She said “how about I come over with some wine and we will order a takeaway and watch a film”
This put the fear of god in me...what if we have nothing to say etc etc and sharing a bed etc etc.
Shall I say no? Or actually enjoy having a friend?
I think I’m nervous because I’m not used to having anybody.

Eh? Why would you be sharing a bed?

Finola1step · 04/02/2018 17:39

Why would you be sharing a bed?

RebootYourEngine · 04/02/2018 17:40

I would love that. Why would you think that you would be sharing a bed, surely she would get a taxi home or sleep on the sofa.

Ohwayway2345 · 04/02/2018 17:41

I only have a single bed in child’s room (and child will be in it)
And my sofa is only a two seater,so quite uncomfortable to sleep on.

She will get a taxi home OP, she won't be sharing your bed. Sounds like a lovely evening, embrace it.

MiddleClassProblem · 04/02/2018 17:41

Was she asking to stay the night?

Ohwayway2345 · 04/02/2018 17:41

She lives 45 min drive away so taxi would be over £30.
Her plan is to drive over and park here overnight ,then head home in morning.

It will be great. You'll have a lovely evening.

Partypopper123 · 04/02/2018 17:42

Has she asked to stay over? I would assume she was getting a taxi home.

Ohwayway2345 · 04/02/2018 17:42

I do suffer from social anxiety ...I think that’s why I never make friends.

OP posts:
edwinbear · 04/02/2018 17:42

Buy an air bed.

Ohwayway2345 · 04/02/2018 17:43

Yeah she asked would it be ok to stay over.

OP posts:
MiddleClassProblem · 04/02/2018 17:43

Just say that you don’t have the space to for her to stay over. Maybe she could come for lunch instead?

I get anxiety with people in my house too. Can totally relate x

SmileEachDay · 04/02/2018 17:43

She can stay in child’s room, you get to snuggle child for the night..

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 04/02/2018 17:43

You will have a great time. Do you have a tenner to get a blow up bed from Argos or somewhere so you don’t have to share? If not and she knows she’ll be sharing and you’re ok with it go for it. I’ve had many night like that with female friends and it’s always been great fun.

MiddleClassProblem · 04/02/2018 17:44

edwinbear no money to go out but get and air bed Confused

JoJo10 · 04/02/2018 17:44

Share the double with your child and your friend have the single bed.

rightknockered · 04/02/2018 17:45

Just give her the sofa, she'll be fine for just one night.

Ohwayway2345 · 04/02/2018 17:45

(The no cash to go out was kind of a excuse )
I’m terrible

OP posts:
Toast3 · 04/02/2018 17:45

Ask her to bring an air bed....without the stress of worrying about sharing a bed you may even have a good time... go for it!

SwarmOfCats · 04/02/2018 17:45

I’m a terrible introvert but don’t present as one (if that makes sense? People describe me as confident and it surprises people to find that I’m quite shy!) Social interaction wears me out, and I would likely have the same sort of thoughts as you...but if you push through it you’ll likely have a great evening and be glad you did!

rightknockered · 04/02/2018 17:45

I've slept in an armchair before, survived

strawberrypenguin · 04/02/2018 17:46

So you say it would lovely if she could come over but unfortunately you don’t have room for her to stay over.

Lemontart25 · 04/02/2018 17:46

Why not have your DC in with you for the night then & let friend have kids bed? Or like a pp has said buy an airbed then you will have for any future sleepovers for your DC's friends also. And if said friend ever came again.

edwinbear · 04/02/2018 17:47

So buy an air bed if you can. It will be useful for DC sleepovers when the time comes. Grin
