Rose McGowan was involved in what can be politely called a "verbal exchange" with an aggressive and antagonistic transwoman at a book signing last week. Rose retaliated verbally and the person was removed from the building. You can watch it here:

The person shouting at Rose (while she was reading from her new book about the rape and abuse she has experienced at the hands of male predators) has been identified as Andi Dier, a trans activist and campaigner. Rose is suffering a huge backlash; various venues have publicly stated that they are pulling bookings for future book tour dates citing her transphobic views. Consequently, she has now cancelled all remaining public appearances.

It has come to light that Andi Dier has a history of sexual assault with minors; young women have come forward saying Andi assaulted them at the age of 12/13/14. In addition, this Twitter thread details some of the paedophilic, fetishistic pornographic content Andi has posted online.

AIBU to think that all kinds of people, everywhere, should be alarmed that such a vile, abusive person has been able to get away with publicly attacking Rose, who precipitated the downfall of Weinstein and who was the first spark of the #MeToo movement?

The whole point of women's objection is that men and women are different.

Something that transitioning doesn't change. Women are still subject to their biology and the treatment according to them on its basis. Treatment, propagated largely, by men.

This tactic of men forcing women to deny that difference, in order to control them and the narrative, is at the very heart of the discussion.

And when women refuse to do it, however polite they are, it infuriates them.

Rose called that man sister and said yes, transwomen are women.

It's not enough, because it didn't lead to her being dominated by him.

So he immediately, and instinctively, ups the ante.

Which failed. Quite spectacularly.

Any kickback is seen as transphobic. In other words 'a woman who won't be controlled'.

It's interesting that they spend so much time trying to prove transwomen and women are exactly the same.

But one of the biggest differences between men and women, the fact that men can dominate women, is utilised at every turn.

They are totally reliant on this difference, to force us to pretend we're the same.

I consider myself very open minded, I have no problem with anybody based on their sexuality or the gender they perceive themselves to be. Very much live & let live. Watching this vile outburst at Rose has made me take a huge step back & rethink the whole trans movement thing. That cretin of a man has, imo, done no other transgender person any favours because he was trying to segregate trans women into their own sub-category. For ages I assumed that actually trans women wanted to be considered as women, with no questions, no special honours, just equally treated the way myself & my daughter are treated. His rant blew that right out of the window!!

I too find it disgusting that the trans community are defending him & berating Rose, especially given his disgusting past of violence against women & children!! Hello, this person is one of the reasons women don't feel safe walking the streets; violent predator masquerading as something he isn't & getting away with it. Just what we need.

I like Rose, & I like what she has set out to do. I hope she takes time out & comes back punching harder.

Which is why the proposal to change the gender recognition act so that anybody can legally change sex simply by filling in and signing a form is so incredibly dangerous. We would no longer be able to distinguish. Any man at all could legally become a woman purely on their own say so.

The terms TERF, Transphobia and Bigot are now synonymous.

The word "woman" has become a sort of umbrella term, with trans women being a subset rather than a separate group. (Trans women are women, see?) This mindset creates subgroups of lesbian women, BAME women, disabled women, etc.

Cis women are just women. Adult human females. But by labelling them as part of a subgroup of the umbrella term "woman" the TRAs get to redefine the word itself, "other" females in general, and take over women's spaces and groups.

Cis is a term of abuse used by those who also use TERF, transphobic and Bigot.

Cis is mean't to distinguish between transwomen and women, even though they claim transwomen are women. Logic has no discourse with TRAs and their supporters.

One of the first posts on that mermaidradfem Twitter link in the OP is someone calling transphobia for the use of "he". It doesn't matter how vile or abusive a person he is, we must all be polite and call him by his preferred pronouns. Fuck this shit!

One of the tweets I read was they may have done horrible and vile things but please don't misgender them. I don't know whether they are being serious or ironic.
