Just watched the clip of Jacob rees mogg at Bristol university, when a few momentum activists try to cause havoc and stop him from talking

Whatever anyone thinks of this man, I have to say he was pretty gutsy going up to them, considering they are all hiding behind Balaclavas and scarves and there wasn't any security there.
Most politicians wouldn't have gone near them, let alone try to talk to them

I like him. Yes his views are controversial and I don't agree with some of them, but at least he stands up for what he believes in

You are clearly and demonstrably sexist.

Mansplaining, a prejudicial view of males

Just what we needed a man coming along telling us what to think! - stereotyping based on sex

HTH

Pahahah. I am playing loony left bingo
We have a right to violent protest
no one else is allowed to speak
Baseless namecalling
Make is here,
Mansplaining plus
outrage at being called on it
Claiming sexism .......against men!!!
Dragging the NHS into any discussion
Latest trend claiming the suffragettes support with no evidence irrelevance to discussion at hand

Well first of all, we as humans have to be very careful.

We have a extraordinary gift. Or super power. We can detect patterns. So well in fact that we can predict.

This is perhaps the main reason we have become such a dominant species.

But as anyone in a casino can tell you this ability is not infallible. We can see trends that aren't there, or misinterpret real trends. This gives us superstition, bigotry and investment bubbles.

The person in the casino "knows" his luck is due to change.

I am unsure about this event in Bristol. We will see how the investigation goes.

But regarding Rees-Mogg, he looks like someone we have have grown up admiring. The public school boy pilot at the Battle of Britain. Sherlock Holmes. He is thin. He speaks with the mannerisms and accent of those we associate with leadership. His clothing makes us think of idealised times. Empire, industry.

Patterns can be deceiving.

I have never been called out in Haiku format before!

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 04/02/2018 07:27

Sabaisabai1234 interesting first comment on the thread......

ButteredScone · 04/02/2018 08:13

I am actually a bit shocked that there are people on this thread that think violence is justified against people who are just talking.

JRM is peaceful. He is prepared to discuss his views and to listen to others. Whatever his faults, he has a complete reverence for democracy and parliament. We are LUCKY to have politicians like him (and, no, I don’t support a lot of his views).

InfiniteSheldon · 04/02/2018 08:13

Glad you noticed Grin just to be clear i wasn't and wouldn't accuse you personally of explaining Make

InfiniteSheldon · 04/02/2018 08:14

Mansplaining!

woodhill · 04/02/2018 08:20

Agree Buttered. I don't like violence especially if someone is being polite and calm and we have enough lawlessness in the UK.

BertrandRussell · 04/02/2018 08:21

“I am actually a bit shocked that there are people on this thread that think violence is justified against people who are just talking”

Are you really shocked by that? Honestly? Isn’t it more that you’re a bit frustrated that there are so very few people who think that? Grin

“99.9% of people on both the left and the right and in the middle agree that people in balaclavas should not try to disrupt the democratic process” Not much of a headline is it?

Rebeccaslicker · 04/02/2018 08:29

Comedy gold from user147hyperbole. Dad of two daughters, my arse - spotty momentum yoof who hasn't grown up enough to actually pay any tax more like Grin

JRM is like boris - a bit of an eccentric so he gets the press. Nobody actually wants him in power.

But at least he doesn't hide behind face furniture and think he's important enough to disturb an event that's others wanted to go to with his stupid offensive shouting. Problem for Josh Connor and his ilk is that they are thick as a few bricks, so that's all they're actually capable of doing. God help them if they ever had to run a real business, never mind a country. Opposition is easy. Anyone can shout and march.

ButteredScone · 04/02/2018 08:29

Are you actually shocked?

Yep, by page 11 they really should have seen the light. Smile

makeourfuture · 04/02/2018 08:31

Rees-Mogg calmly and politely accused the civil service of treachery.

BertrandRussell · 04/02/2018 08:35

“JRM is like boris - a bit of an eccentric so he gets the press. Nobody actually wants him in power.“

Really? A bit of an eccentric who has the clout to appear on prime time tv accusing the judiciary and the civil service of treachery? A bit of an eccentric who is carefully positioning himself to be the next leader of the Conservative Party?

It's bizarre!!

Don't forget the standard practice of 'But what about Diane Abbott!'

Taking a lesson from Donald Trump's playbook. :(

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 04/02/2018 10:16

Only skim read thread but dispair of labour. Truly terrified if they get to power under corbyn I wad not aware of any violence like this before JC, it's emboldened them and it would be like rise of nazis if he ever gets in.

Labour has never been so violent... And he sits there with wet lips talking in that awful barely audible restrained voice saying how he wants politics to be peaceful and kind Hmm utter wolf in sheep's clothing.

SersioulycanitgetWORSE · 04/02/2018 10:18

It's long been known how civil service influence matters, they are the main stay in ever changing regimes. They even wrote a sit com about it called yes minister, perhaps some posters are too young to remember that.

So it doesn't surprise me if those powers that be are under mining something they don't agree with.

LifeBeginsAtGin · 04/02/2018 10:36

If we want rid of Jacob 'Smogg we all need to get rid of Corbyn and Momentum.

Never thought I would want Ed Milliband back Shock

Julie8008 · 04/02/2018 11:22

We need New New Labour. Perhaps give Tony a ring?

derxa · 04/02/2018 12:02

Ha ha ha He looks and behaves like a cartoon character e.g. Lord Snooty. You're the all wise knowing one who can see 'patterns' and we are ignorant sheep.

'We' have grown up admiring?
Confused

Perhaps you grew up admiring that sort of character, but I didn't.

Perhaps it is this indoctrinated admiration for the upper class caricature that is at the root of your skewed thinking?

AntArcticFox · 04/02/2018 12:47

Posh-background- Momentum type. My pattern detection mechanism just pinged bigly!

( Just teasing by the way, my rule idle that I presume nothing about folk in the internet.)

Rebeccaslicker · 04/02/2018 12:48

He can position himself all he wants to - most people won't vote for him. Most people don't want a wacky eccentric as PM, left or right. And the more shite he spouts, the less credibility he'll have.

I agree with derxa, it's most odd that make assumes JRM is someone people would admire. He looks like a prize geek to me!

BertrandRussell · 04/02/2018 12:52

I’ll remind you of that in about 12 months.
