Just watched the clip of Jacob rees mogg at Bristol university, when a few momentum activists try to cause havoc and stop him from talking

Whatever anyone thinks of this man, I have to say he was pretty gutsy going up to them, considering they are all hiding behind Balaclavas and scarves and there wasn't any security there.
Most politicians wouldn't have gone near them, let alone try to talk to them

I like him. Yes his views are controversial and I don't agree with some of them, but at least he stands up for what he believes in

@butteredscone I quite agree.

@lostincumbria only double national wage by 50? Oh bad luck ☹️

C8H10N4O2 · 03/02/2018 10:13

Her mess ups went on for weeks

No the factual errors/ inability to recall numbers was in interviews over a very short period - it was a marked change in her compared to interviews earlier in the campaign.

Well then blame her mate Corbyn then for agreeing to her doing them

You assume he has any input? I'd blame Milne and cronies for the schedule.

That doesn't justify people jumping on her with what is usually thinly disguised racism and misogyny wrapped up in accusations of being stupid.

You may well disagree with her views but she isn't stupid - how many of the Bullingdon set would have made Oxford and their pork barrels on their own merits without wealth, privilege and a massive sense of entitlement to buy their way in?

Boris makes cock up after cock up but I see no accusations of his being stupid, quite the opposite.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 03/02/2018 10:14

Aside from suspect Guido Fawkes gossip I have seen no reports linking these people with any particular group.

And yet you still cannot bring yourself to condemn their actions.

Do you condemn the tactics used last night:
Balaclavas & face coverings, aggressive & confrontational behaviour toward a serving MP.

Do you condemn the aggressive & confrontational tactics of momentum & antifa?

Or, do you think it's justified if it is against someone you don't like/don't agree with?

lostincumbria · 03/02/2018 10:14

next and elton twisting in the wind as their assumptions are repeatedly proven wrong.

Such fun.

I'm off to bask in my poor/black/white/middle class/male/female Saturday traditions.

Squeegle · 03/02/2018 10:14

You are right feelit. And that is rubbish. Unattractive men get it too occasionally - remember Lamont the slug? 😂

BertrandRussell · 03/02/2018 10:15

To be fair, with Anne Widdecombe it’s also about her thinking that a women prisoner should give birth while manacled. And her extraordinary decision to abandon the core tenets of her faith because she could not accept woman priests. Among other things........

lostincumbria · 03/02/2018 10:15

thorny wow, what an insult! Well played! You must be so proud.

C8H10N4O2 · 03/02/2018 10:15

But then Anne Widdecombe suffered the same abuse. It’s more about being an unattractive woman than being rubbish at your job

This, and in Abbott's case is doubled up by racism.

thornyhousewife · 03/02/2018 10:16

@morriszapp I suppose that British Muslims are as conservative as Catholics.

Which is fine, all the time it remains discussion and not policy.

NewYearNewMe18 · 03/02/2018 10:16

She attracts a disproportionate amount of vitriol purely because she is a black woman who does not look like Naomi Campbell.

I'd say it because shes a hypocrite and racist as well. Fuck all to do with her being black.

thornyhousewife · 03/02/2018 10:17

@lostincumbria sorry you're feeling wounded by my jibe. Perhaps you'll think again next time you attempt to brag.

BertrandRussell · 03/02/2018 10:18

“Boris makes cock up after cock up but I see no accusations of his being stupid, quite the opposite.”

Yes, somehow the bigger the cock up the cleverer he becomes. That’s entrenched privilege for you!

Eltonjohnssyrup · 03/02/2018 10:18

But I'm interested in the religious aspect. How do British Muslims feel about same sex marriage, sex outside marriage, contraception and abortion?

I imagine they probably feel the same way most Christians do. That they will carry out the manifesto of their party despite their personal feelings. The exception is free votes where they vote with their conscience.

This normally reflects the British population in that most vote in favour of progressive measures re things like gay relationships but a few don't concur. That seems about right to me, it would be worrying if we had a parliament of people who all agreed to whatever trendy orthodoxy was in this week. See MPs standing up to the self IDing nonsense for example.

makeourfuture · 03/02/2018 10:19

Yet Abbott is supposed to be handed a free pass because she's black.

Very close to bigotry there.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 03/02/2018 10:20

You assume he has any input? I'd blame Milne and cronies for the schedule.

Well if he didn't as a potential PM then he is even more ineffective than I thought. Or is it a case that dear leader can never do wrong?

BertrandRussell · 03/02/2018 10:22

“Yet Abbott is supposed to be handed a free pass because she's black”

Nope.

Is Boris Johnson supposed to be handed a free pass because he is posh?

Eltonjohnssyrup · 03/02/2018 10:23

next and elton twisting in the wind as their assumptions are repeatedly proven wrong.

Which assumptions 'proven' wrong?

So far we have the protestors identifying the
as Antifa and multiple eyewitnesses revealing a protestor as a Momentum supporter with screengrabs of his social media to back it up.

As far as evidence they are not left wing we have precisely...nothing.

As far as evidence goes we seem to be pointing strongly in the direction of far left antifa with Momentum links.

If you can point me to your claimed 'proof' this is not the case please enlighten me? Because a I do believe you're talking bollocks and just making excuses for extremists instead of condemning them.

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 03/02/2018 10:23

Isn't it funny how the conversation has been neatly switched to poor Diane Abbott.

I cannot stand the way she is treated - I am appalled & horrified at the shit she has been subjected to over decades.

In this particular case though, Diane was not involved - it's a shame that some posters think it's just dandy to drag her into something she had nothing to do with & thus she becomes the topic of debate once more - in their effort to distract from the disgusting behaviour of anti-democrats last night, Diane is now the subject of scrutiny.

Make, do you approve of the actions of the shouty twats last night?
Do you think that their tactics & actions are justified?

Eltonjohnssyrup · 03/02/2018 10:25

Is Boris Johnson supposed to be handed a free pass because he is posh?

No, but I've never seen anybody claim that he should be. I've never seen anybody claim that criticising Boris shouldn't be allowed because of some sort of 'ism'. Diane on the other hand....every time.

VladmirsPoutine · 03/02/2018 10:26

No, but I've never seen anybody claim that he should be.

I really wonder why that is. It just evades me Hmm

Bejazzled · 03/02/2018 10:26

Love the attempt to move this into a Diane abbot debate grin

This ^

So much deflection, whatabouterry and victim blaming on this thread. I find it frustrating and pathetic in equal measure.

makeourfuture · 03/02/2018 10:27

As far as evidence they are not left wing we have precisely...nothing

There's no proof they aren't Santa either. That's not how it works.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 03/02/2018 10:28

Very close to bigotry there

Bollocks makeourfuture, it's you and your fellow Momentum bots who are claiming no criticism of her should be allowed because it's racist. You can't call for something yourselves then call other people bigots when they point it out. That would be hypocrisy. As usual. Confused

Eltonjohnssyrup · 03/02/2018 10:31

There's no proof they aren't Santa either. That's not how it works.

You need to learn how this 'proof' thing works. The other side has pretty strong evidence linking them to the far left (including what they themselves told the events organiser who is on record).

You're claiming that is piffle and proves nothing.

Yet you have no evidence they are not far left. Yet you think this 'proves' they are not far left.

Please don't try and go to law school. You would be very bad at it.
