kateandme · 02/02/2018 09:56

oh tooth ache sufferers.orajel.get it now!

OneTitWonder · 02/02/2018 09:57

I am pretty familiar with pain, having had a mastectomy, chemo and radiation which caused 3rd degree burns.

Then I broke my arm in 6 places. Pain so bad I was begging to be knocked out, and it went on for days. A year later and if I think about the 10 minute wait for the ambulance I actually start dry-wretching.

CountessOfStrathearn · 02/02/2018 10:00

Shingles.

I've given birth several times with no analgesia. I'd rather do that again than have shingles again.

Canyouguess · 02/02/2018 10:02

Perforated ear drum on a flight

bettydraper31 · 02/02/2018 10:05

Thrombosed hemmoroid (sp?). Fucking awful.

TeeBee · 02/02/2018 10:07

Oh fuck yes, shingles. Where even wearing clothes hurts. I had to wear big pants and soft trousers and socks just to get through the day. Hideous.

Iooselipssinkships · 02/02/2018 10:08

Gallstones. Fucking gallstones. Mine were so bad they gave me ketamine in hospital as morphine wasn't touching it. I was in absolute agony, worse than labour.

And stubbing your toe. Now that's bad

CrochetBelle · 02/02/2018 10:09

Post lumbar headache after several attempts at entry and failed anaesthetic. Couldn't look after my children for over two weeks Sad

AHungryMum · 02/02/2018 10:09

Sad at @DontBuyANewMumCashmere 's post, I have nothing useful or constructive I can add here, but having seen it I didn't want to just read on without expressing my sympathies. I'm so sorry. Sad

AHungryMum · 02/02/2018 10:11

As to the original topic, agreed that standing on an upturned plug or Lego is a pain like no other!!

Having my coil fitted back in the day was freaking AGONY too...

HateSummer · 02/02/2018 10:16

Paper cut. The worst pain ever, especially when you itch it by accident and tear open the cut 😯

DeadButDelicious · 02/02/2018 10:18

That's what I had DeadButDelicious when pregnant with DD, absolutely horrible isn't it? I was in hospital for 3 weeks having all the painkillers they could throw at me and was still begging the doctors to kill me.

It's fucking awful! Mine was down to DD's position. As soon as she was born it stopped. I had several intermittent stays in hospital from 35 to 38weeks.

LemonShark · 02/02/2018 10:20

Having a spinal tap without anaesthetic. Injected into sacral nerve bundle. Had to have nurses holding me down on the table and people in the waiting room could hear me screaming through the walls. I shook with fear and anxiety for hours afterwards.

CaptainCardamom · 02/02/2018 10:21

A small, hard plastic spinning top was my worst "standing on" experience. But worst pain ever was pregnancy leg cramps. My contractions were pretty horrendous and I had an epidural, but they didn't match the leg cramps in the middle of the night – OMG. I would have ripped my own leg off if i could.

spankhurst · 02/02/2018 10:24

Untreated cystitis so bad my wee was red as the pee was burning the lining of my bladder. I would rather give birth again 10 times.

Skarossinkplunger · 02/02/2018 10:27

Gallstones. I thought I was being a wuss until my grandmother who’s been through pretty much everyone said it was the worst pain in the world.

JuliannaBixby · 02/02/2018 10:33

I think my worst moment was, during labour, 6 different people came to have a dig around as they thought my placenta was blocking DD coming out, which is obv quite the emergency.

6 different people, elbow deep, having a good feel to see if they could work out what they were feeling.

It felt like they were squeezing all of my insides in their fists. It was particularly fun during contractions.

It was actually DD's ridiculous amount of hair they could feel.

windchimesabotage · 02/02/2018 10:33

I was thinking about having a home birth this time around.

Then I got food poisoning and almost rang an ambulance on myself because I couldnt handle the stomach cramps and diarrhoea.

Now I am re thinking my birth plans.

MontyPythonsFlyingFuck · 02/02/2018 10:35

OP, try taking Buscopan (it's over the counter) with your Solpadeine. It has hyoscin in it, which is an anti-spasmodic, and should help with both the wind and the period pains. It's what used to be in Feminax back in the Good Old Days.

BumpowderSneezeonAndSnot · 02/02/2018 10:37

Buscopan is also the treatment of choice for gallstones as an fyi to sufferers. Iv buscopan worked far better than morphine for me.

youngnomore · 02/02/2018 10:42

Nipple burning sounds horrific.
Toothache , cystitis, childbirth and shingles all up there in my top 5.
But in first place is Hep A.as a teen (apparently from school) I woke up dead.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/02/2018 10:43

DontBuyANewMumCashmere I’m so sorry my lovely 💐

It’s hard to choose between...

Lumbar puncture with no anaesthetic (bastard).
Being made to drink gallons of liquid then wait hours for a scan. I can’t even describe the pain.
Camping in the back of beyond and having very bad earache. Generally unsympathetic paramedic mate actually took me on the long drive to a hospital, that’s when I knew it was BAD.
Labrinthithis
Sinusitis in a ski resort - added altitude issues were great fun. Not.

Tearing my cruciate ligaments
Burn on my hip, very very close to needing a graft.

Since hitting my mid 40’s I’ve been had some seriously evil period pains.

Then all the usual standing on, straining, spraining, dislocating etc...

AnnieAnoniMouse · 02/02/2018 10:45

windchimesabotage 🤣😂. Probably best to go where you can get decent drugs 😊

mirime · 02/02/2018 10:59

Third was ovarian torsion - thankfully it righted itself out of guess it would be higher up the list.

Second was when my kneecap popped out of place (not a true dislocation apparently, but it was at a right angle to where it should be).

First place goes to labour. I was induced, on that sodding drip and it went from painful but manageable to suddenly screaming the place down in constant agony with no gaps or lessening of the pain.

LemonShark · 02/02/2018 11:01

Am relieved to see people citing cystitis as one of the most painful things they've experienced... I've had a condition for the past twelve years that causes cystitis symptoms and very intense pain in my urethra and bladder every day even when an infection isn't actually present, it's been a nightmare to live with and impacted jobs, relationship, intimacy, and I'm on huge amounts of morphine daily for the past five years to help me function cos there's nothing they can do to stop it. Yet whenever it comes up in conversation (it's classed as a disability) everyone who's had cystitis usually acts like it's mildly sore for a few hours then all fine 😂 Bloody wish it was like that for me, my bladder is the bane of my life and the source of the most excruciating pain I've ever known, barring the spinal tap I mentioned above. Needless to say I have an incredibly high pain threshold!
