3 isn't many is it?

Here's mine

Jill Tyrell-Nighty Night
David Brent even though he annoys me so much
Basil Fawlty

Now people will come along with theirs and I'll think I've chosen the wrong ones!

OP posts:
Blerg · 01/02/2018 12:27

Alan Partridge
Bernard Black
Liz Lemon

HelgasFlowers · 01/02/2018 12:27

I can’t come up with three but I do know that Captain Raymond Holt (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) makes me laugh more than any other comedy character in recent years.

Trinity66 · 01/02/2018 12:28

@Trinity66
“I REALLY like Tony!”

Grin I love that episode

AnachronisticCorpse · 01/02/2018 12:28

Karen Walker for sure. She is my spirit animal (pun intended).

Lilith from Cheers/Frasier

Peggy Bundy from MwC.

I obvs have a thing for caustic women.

Willow2017 · 01/02/2018 12:28

Martin Crane (Frasier)
Blackadder (any one!)
Fletcher (Porrige)

ButtMuncher · 01/02/2018 12:29

Bernard Black
Alan Partridge
Arnold Rimmer

PrivateParkin · 01/02/2018 12:29

Yes I love Niles! My post made me realise my fave sitcoms are all American (well, apart from Fr Ted). Trinity is Fr Noel the one played by Graham Norton? He's hilarious if so!

Willow2017 · 01/02/2018 12:29

..now I've remembered Ever Decreasing Circles. Martin (Richard Briers) was a brilliant character.

^ brilliant (infuriating) character. (I had a thing for Peter Egan during this Grin )

stitchglitched · 01/02/2018 12:30

Father Ted
Ross Gellar (funniest friend despite being an arse)
Niles Crane

(Special mention to Kripke from TBBT who makes every episode he is in, should have been a regular character since most of the rest of them are so bloody awful now and it's gone so downhill!)

samanthajonespr · 01/02/2018 12:30

Marshall Erikssen - How I Met Your Mother
He's so sweet and kind and not an asshole like the other narcissists around him. He reminds me so much of my husband

Dorothy Zbornak - Golden Girls
Obviously all 4 of them are the best characters ever but Dorothy is me!! She's not a traditional feminine woman but she owns it.

Jake Peralta - Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Makes me honk-laugh at least once an episode. He's so well written and likeable.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2018 12:30

The two. will have to think of a third.

Lovejoyfull · 01/02/2018 12:30

Frasier from Frasier
The mother from The Golden Girls
Phil Dunphy from Modern Family
Can I add a fourth Al Bundy from Married with children who is now in Modern Family.

Mine are all American Shock

Trinity66 · 01/02/2018 12:30

PrivateParkin Yep that's the one Grin

VladmirsPoutine · 01/02/2018 12:32

House - hugh laurie

close the thread

ClementineWardrobe · 01/02/2018 12:32

Niles (Frasier) David Hyde Pierce
(Bebe the agent a close second)

Miss Jones (Rising Damp) Frances De La Tour

Rita Simcock (A bit of a do) Gwen Taylor

LoniceraJaponica · 01/02/2018 12:32

I'm glad Niles Crane has been mentioned. I sometimes watch the re-runs of Frasier and are still as funny as they were when they came out.
Ardal O'Hanlon still makes me laugh as Father Dougal, and Alice Tinker in The Vicar of Dibley was so funny.

FuzzyCustard · 01/02/2018 12:33

I'd like to add Bren from Dinnerladies. RIP Victoria Wood.

PrivateParkin · 01/02/2018 12:34

This is such an ace thread OP. Cheered me right up Grin

stitchglitched · 01/02/2018 12:34

Niles' silent scene for the first 10 minutes of the Valentines episode is one of the best things ever.

Want to add a fourth please and say Frasier Crane himself.

FellOutOfBed2wice · 01/02/2018 12:34

Oooh great thread.

Mark Corrigan from Peep Show- I identify so much with his internal monologues. He thinks he’s really weird but actually I think everyone thinks a bit like Mark most of the time. He’s rubbish with women, jobs and is utterly confused and weird wandering around the world like an overgrown sixth former even at almost 40.

David Brent- he’s a fucking idiot but his fucking idioticness comes from a place of insecurity and he’s got a good heart. If we discount the film (and let’s please do) he becomes self aware by the end of The Office and suddenly becomes brilliant for it. In that moment he becomes the hero of all heroes.

Alan Partridge (does he count? I’m Alan Partridge is a sitcom right?)- he’s just so well written and brilliant. He’s a sad little man and one of the greatest tragicomic characters that’s ever been written. You hate him because his on air persona is so dreadful and because he treats Lynn so poorly but then scratch the surface and he’s so lonely and sad and his kids don’t want to see him. In equal parts amazingly written by the team who’ve developed him over all these years and wonderfully played by Steve Coogan.

Honourable mention to Jay Cartwright in The Inbetweeners who is terrible but absolutely true.

Lovelylovelyladies · 01/02/2018 12:35

Larry David

Larry David

Larry David

Lovejoyfull · 01/02/2018 12:35

Can I add Alan Partridge ? I have loads and clearly watch too much tv Confused

UrbaneSprawl · 01/02/2018 12:36

Another vote for the fantastic Margot.
Sir Humphrey in ‘Yes Minister’
Eleanor in ‘After Henry’

WingMirrorSpider · 01/02/2018 12:36

Malcolm Tucker
Alan Partridge
Lucille Bluth (although Gob and Tobias run her a close second)

ClementineWardrobe · 01/02/2018 12:37

The leads in Detectorists, can't choose between Mackenzie Crook and Toby Stephen

The entire cast of Blackadder but particularly lord Percy Percy.

Purest Green my Lord..

Annette Crosbie's barely contained rage at victor meldrew was brilliant.

Tough one, had to answer twice...
