To vote Tory in the next election?

I've lost all hope of any rationality coming out of JC and Labour.

I feel like my biological existence is being wiped out.

I already feel completely bereft that the future of the female/girls/women will likely continue to be ruled and overruled by the patriarchy.

I’m a Labour Party member and have been for years

I won’t vote while Momentum are controlling the party and Corbyn is leader

I voted LD last election as I didn’t want to spoil my vote and like some of their policies

As for all Tories are scum Hmm wtd it’s just embarrassing that so many people are so up themselves they think by just voting labour they are morally superior

Many people vote who they think is the better leader and who runs the economy better

ButteredScone · 28/01/2018 23:13

Actually, on the trans issue the Tories are way ahead of Labour. They commissioned Justine Greening to do her review and they are now able to drop it as she has left government.

Also, this is on Conservative Home today: www.conservativehome.com/leftwatch/2018/01/labours-internal-battle-over-trans-women-and-all-women-shortlists-suggests-its-strategy-of-identity-politics-is-backfiring.html

I would never vote for a party who appointed a terrorist supporter as their leader.

I know local elections are about the mp but I could never bite labour with that idiotic man in the leaders position

As for people name calling those who don't vote labour - what right do you have???? People vote for what they believe in. That's freedom of choice - something a hell of a lot of people lost their lives for.

Have respect if you disagree fair enough but no name calling and insults!

I vote Tory and have done since I was 18. I have a ton of labour friends - staunch supporters and flexible ones - we agree to disagree and certainly don't insult each other personally about our policy rival choices!! Name calling and insults have no place when people express political choices. Live with the fact we are all different and have the right to choose!

bakingdemon · 28/01/2018 23:14

I've been a Tory member for 10 years. I don't eat babies, I care about (and do my bit to help) the vulnerable and I am not rich.

If the GRA is your main concern, then please be assured there are a lot of us making our voices known inside the party and what I've been reading here is very helpful. I don't believe it will happen. It would be a deeply unConservative thing to do (the clue is in the name) and thankfully the leadership is cottoning onto that.

Clem7 · 28/01/2018 23:20

I usually flit between Labour and Lib Dem. Ultimately I would prefer the LDs to be in power but, in my constituency, it’s best to vote Labour to keep the Tories out. I don’t think any party has done so much to damage the country since the Tories under Cameron, and Theresa May has hardly been an improvement.

PancakeInMaBelly · 28/01/2018 23:24

No fucking way will I vote Labour this time given Corbyns views on self ID/women.

Dunno whose left though, womens equality party has been well and truly cookooed, green party are so keen to be right in that they don't use their brains to see they're actually supporting / promoting mysogyny now..

I don't think I can vote for any of them

FanDabbyFloozy · 28/01/2018 23:24

@Asthenia - you may object to me calling JC ineffectual but it's totally true. He is principled as you say but he couldn't lead a residents committee, much less a country. I suspect he is hating all this and would prefer to be at some lefty meeting of minds before heading down the allotment.

As leader, he will ruin the country, business investment will halt and they're won't be enough money to fund schools and hospitals, so they will borrow. That's the reality.

Come to think of it, we need leaders who have actually had real jobs in the real world.

LadyBoyXy · 29/01/2018 00:23

fernstwist

Lifelong Labour voter here and they won’t be getting my vote next time because of their idiocy over allowing men who say they are women waltz onto All Women Shortlists. Corbyn didn’t sound convinced himself today on the Andrew Marr show but they’re terrified of the backlash if they stand up to the trans brigade.

JC was squirming in his seat, his view on the matter seemed rather ambiguous and his words faded as he spoke> that in itself shows to me that his integrity is tarnished.

And yes to the pp, I will drop Labour over self ID. I also didn't much like his "social objective" to land grab private property and give away as he sees fit.

Lady agree 100%

Eltonjohnssyrup · 29/01/2018 00:31

I will be voting Tory.

I knew a child who was a victim of the grooming gangs in S Yorks. We knew about it long before it went public and we know that how much the LP covered it up (and certain other councillors were involved in facilitating) goes much deeper than is public. The JC arm are exactly the sort of people that let this happen. See Naz Shah liking tweets which said the victims should 'keep their mouths shut for the sake of diversity'.

Incidentally, Momentum members recently deselected a candidate (with impeccable records and a long standing connection) for being 'too working class'.

I would rather cut off my own fingers and eat them than vote for Labour.

EggsonHeads · 29/01/2018 00:32

@blankets4ever it's a well known secret that Jeremy is a closeted communist. Where have you been for that past ten years? Clearly not isslimgton. Anyway. The Labour Party are the ones who aren't communist although the birish communist party is supporting them so that's fairly telling. The leader is a communist and a terrorist sympathiser with a man crush on Fidel Castro and his party is pushing out moderate supporters in favour of radicals.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 29/01/2018 00:32

JC was squirming in his seat, his view on the matter seemed rather ambiguous and his words faded as he spoke> that in itself shows to me that his integrity is tarnished

He doesn't have any integrity. He was anti EU big time until Len and John told him he wasn't.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 29/01/2018 00:35

@Asthenia - you may object to me calling JC ineffectual but it's totally true

JC is a figurehead for machinations behind the scenes. He has no real power.

caremummy · 29/01/2018 00:40

You are bereft by the patriarchy and JC and labour but you think the Conservative party is going to solve this ?

What do you think the Conservative party have done which has improved the rights and situation of women ?

Is it cutting maternity services ?going into agreements with the DUP ?

I accept I am probably much younger than you but the idea that the Conservative party is the alternative for someone who wants recognition for women's rights and issues, and thinks they are going to help advance equality is ridiculous.

Oh

And trans women are women too 😎

Oh yes we know we know
Only women who identify with what men thinks constitutes a real woman, is a woman...

caremummy · 29/01/2018 00:47

There does seem to be a massive split on this, and it does seem to be generational

What a shame that people will drop a party of hope.

And instead vote for a party that treats people in a way that genuinely breaks my heart.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 29/01/2018 00:51

What do you think the Conservative party have done which has improved the rights and situation of women ?

Two female prime ministers is a start. Especially in contrast to a notoriously macho party who have never even had a female leader (let alone a PM), who have very recently covered up the abuse of thousands of young females and recently made a fanfare of welcoming back an MP who talked about 'little slags' and has been accused of violence against women. And let's not talk about what Ken Livingstne has done to his partners...

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 29/01/2018 00:54

Do what you like, However. Don't expect sympathy when/if it all goes tits up.
People will say. "I told you so"

caremummy · 29/01/2018 00:56

This is the argument that gets me

You effectively say T women's self identification is invalid because it is is the male view of what makes a woman.

But in this context, how can you or I identify as a feminist, or a socialist, or anything if it is always the male view.

That argument suggests women don't have enough within them to overcome the patriarchy when making any identifications ?

Bluelady · 29/01/2018 00:56

Let's face it whichever way we all vote we're fucked. There's nobody in the Commons I'd trust to run a bath.

PancakeInMaBelly · 29/01/2018 00:57

Look, most people think the Tories are shits
It's just that right now, labour and green are BIGGER shits
So short of not voting, the main choices are Tory or UKIP..

Eltonjohnssyrup · 29/01/2018 00:58

I too know a victim of sexual exploitation and grooming. The problem was the police had an attitude of hatred for working class girls, they were told they were lying.

You are lying. If you genuinely knew a grooming victim you would be familiar with the Jay and Casey reports and what the actually said.

Girls were not disbelieved because they were working class. In fact many other cases went ahead at the same time involving working class girls with different perpetrators.

The problem was that they didn't want to expose the crimes because they were worried about 'appearing racist' or damaging 'diversity'. And it wasn't just the police. It was the Labour council from top to bottom. The covered it up and used to deliver girls in care to their abusers by taxi (paid for by the Labour council).

Next time you try and lie about something, please do the minimum background research to make it convincing.

You can find links to all the above by googling. I might do some tomorrow, but it's late now.

blankets4ever · 29/01/2018 00:59

@EggsOnHeads, I suggest reading his policies. A communist state would seize all private property. It's utter hyperbole to say Corbyn and his team are calling for this. As said, his policies are most similar to socialist democratic parties. You may not agree with them, as is your right, but to suggest he is a communist is laughable.

caremummy · 29/01/2018 00:59

I am genuinely wanting to learn now.

The last time I got into this argument was in person and I was almost assaulted.

So,

If someone born with male genitals can't identify as female because it is the male view of what makes a woman, then, does that make all trans people what illegitimate because they do not know what it is to be female or male ?
