To think this delusional dirty pervert should stay exactly where he is and starve if that's what he wants?

There is currently a delightful person on hunger strike because the prison service won't "recognise their gender" and send them to a women's prison.

see here

Nobody seems to want to mention the fact that they are in fact a sex offender and voyeur who broke into teenage girls bedrooms to wank into their underwear Hmm

Why the hell they think they should be in a women's prison is completely beyond me. Anyone able to enlighten me?

She would have to be put on the nonce wing of a female prison surely?

The 'nonce wing'? There isn't one. I mean if this carries on they will have to build one. But it will be 90% a sausage fest.

QueenOfQuacks · 30/01/2018 15:54

Oh FGS.

Yeah I started the thread because he's a fucking sex offender and a perve and a risk to women and girls who seems to think the fact he's now trans makes the above facts unmentionable! And what's worse is that rather than doing any investigation or critical thinking, the media are feeding the public a fucking massive LIE in the narrative that this is a story about a poor oppressed transwoman who wouldn't hurt a fly and just wants a lipstick.

Myunicornfliessideways · 30/01/2018 15:56

would a thread have been started about what she did if she wasn’t trans?

Why would a thread or a newspaper article even have happened if this individual wasn't trans? Confused People are allowed to talk about this stuff, women are people too and they have legal rights too, it's not a secret they're signed up to. And you feel entitled to use the word 'nonce' which isn't the most politically correct, unjudgy or socially just word around, with distinct overtones of homophobia, and not one I've actually ever seen a woman on MN use before. Interesting.

Scabbersley · 30/01/2018 16:51

Who even says nonce??

Are you my grandad?? (god love him)

OlennasWimple · 30/01/2018 17:35

Nonce is a great word

Sounds Shakespearean, is actually prison slang (stands for "Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise" - ie segregated for their own protection from the other prisoners)

Anyway, am I misremembering or did a TRA group ("trans health alliance"??) include in their recent demands that all trans prisoners be freed immediately?

picklemepopcorn · 30/01/2018 17:39

I can hear the frustration of generally balanced and to,errant people spilling over in their language. I think that's where the transphobia accusations come from. The trans narrative cult is so slippery and impossible to engage with, we are reduced to talking about sausage Fests and people with dicks.

NotALabourMemberImAfraidLads · 30/01/2018 17:44

Anyway, am I misremembering or did a TRA group ("trans health alliance"??) include in their recent demands that all trans prisoners be freed immediately?

Yes, that is one of Action for Trans Health's demands. I anticipate that we will find pretty much 100% of prisoners identify as trans if that is introduced.

BeyondWitchbitchterf · 30/01/2018 17:55

Haha yeah, even if they genuinely think people won't id as trans to get into women's facilities, surely anyone with half a neuron can see that bringing in "free all trans prisoners" alongside self id is gonna end in a lot of empty prisons! 🙄

SimonBridges · 30/01/2018 17:59

I say nonce. It’s a great word.

A lot of people on here are using her crimes to justify transphobia - would a thread have been started about what she did if she wasn’t trans?

No one on this thread is transphobic. Find on single transphobic comment.

This thread would not have been started had this person who committed crimes involving their penis not been requesting a move to a place full of people with vaginas.

I am not transphobic. I will always treat trans people I meet in the course of my life with decency and use the names and pronouns they wish. I know that most trans people are just people trying to get on with their lives in a way that makes them happy.
I am not transphobic as I am not afraid of trans people.
If you are a nice person, as have been all the trans people I have met, then I will treat you as a nice person.
If you want to stomp all over my rights, the rights and safety of women or children or tell me that I am womening wrong then I will get pissed off.

I reserve the right to stand up for the rights of women.
They include women who have the right to not have to handle a penis when performing a prison search.
Women who have the right to remain safe in prison and not have to share a space with a person with a penis.

Datun · 30/01/2018 18:09

Men with gender dysphoria find it alleviates the symptoms to present as women. They should not be discriminated against on that basis.

That's where this started.

Cut to a few years later.

Men want the right to compete against women, go to female prisons, be on all women shortlists, speak for women in feminism, persecute lesbians, villify anyone who talks about female biology, and reserve the right to threaten women who don't agree, (but, funnily enough, not men).

How the hell have we got here?

AreYouOrHaveYouEverBeenATERF · 30/01/2018 18:10

Hear, hear Simon.

This is what we're up against. A journalist today tweeted about the horrific case of a man raping an 8mth old baby. She's been called transphobic for stating that males are responsible for rape.

This is her latest tweet - but you can click on her profile to see the earlier ones. It's just beyond belief.

Most snowflakey shit yet. #peaktrans

AreYouOrHaveYouEverBeenATERF · 30/01/2018 18:27

She is apparently minimising (and taking a dig at transwomen) by talking about females being the victims of rape and male violence.

I can't even.... Confused

SimonBridges · 30/01/2018 18:28

She said ‘this is the reality of being born female’ and it is.
No one born male can understand, no more than I can understand what it is like to be born black, disabled, Chinese or male.
I have sympathy with trans people, I honestly do. I cannot understand what it is to be trans.
I do understand what it is to be female. Don’t remove my rights and belittle me to fight your fight.

ArcheryAnnie · 30/01/2018 18:58

Jesus fucking christ. You can't talk about a baby being raped unless you centre it on adult trans-identified men?

Fuck that.

Scabbersley · 30/01/2018 19:01

That is an awful story. I feel sorry for the people who have tried to make it about trans. You'd have to be quite mentally ill to do that.

OlennasWimple · 30/01/2018 19:03

Yy, Archery. Fuck that indeed.

We demand that trans people are immediately freed from police, military & government contracts without repercussions. We reject the system of blackmail that corporations and governments engage in, whereby trans people who can work are “rewarded” with slightly less mistreatment in exchange for the exploitation of our labour. We will not allow pinkwashing of the violence of capitalism, imperialism and the state

Can anyone at all see any problems with releasing "Tiffany Scott" simply because of their status as trans? If so, you are obviously a nasty, pinkwashing bigot Hmm

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 30/01/2018 19:16

The comments being sent to that journalist are beyond astonishing. You'd have to do some serious linguistic contortions to make what she said in anyway transphobic, yet, somehow, someone has.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 30/01/2018 19:18

I feel sorry for the people who have tried to make it about trans.

I don't. Anymore than I'd feel sorry for any other MRA who tries to make MVAWAG about something other than the people it actually happens to.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 30/01/2018 19:19

And it's not mental illness, it's being massively self-absorbed and entitled.

AreYouOrHaveYouEverBeenATERF · 30/01/2018 19:21

This is it, Saskia - this was a case of a man raping a baby. He wasn't trans - trans didn't touch this story in any way shape or form. This woman was reporting on male sexual violence towards a baby girl. What on earth is happening??

I'm really very scared that this is the shape of things to come. We are genuinely not going to be allowed to talk about sex-based violence or discrimination against women because "transphobia" - it is not hyperbole to say we are being erased.

balsamicbarbara · 30/01/2018 19:22

"I am not transphobic as I am not afraid of trans people."

Haha. That is really not what it means or do you think you need to be "afraid" of gay people to be homophobic? Grin

ArcheryAnnie · 30/01/2018 19:25

balsamicbarbara are you up for derailing a conversation about a man raping a baby, too?

AreYouOrHaveYouEverBeenATERF · 30/01/2018 19:26

And yes, a lot of the abuse that woman is getting is from MRAs who don't give a stuff about transpeople - but just want to just on the bandwagon of stopping women talking about male violence. Because they realised all too quickly what a lot of people are taking a long time to realise: that the transactivist movement will seriously damage women's rights and equality. Which is what MRAs want.
