To think this delusional dirty pervert should stay exactly where he is and starve if that's what he wants?

There is currently a delightful person on hunger strike because the prison service won't "recognise their gender" and send them to a women's prison.

see here

Nobody seems to want to mention the fact that they are in fact a sex offender and voyeur who broke into teenage girls bedrooms to wank into their underwear Hmm

Why the hell they think they should be in a women's prison is completely beyond me. Anyone able to enlighten me?

The journalist in question also covered another trans prison rights story.

He's on twitter so if anyone feels like challenging his major omissions from this story that's a good way to do it....

The Guardian do allow comments.

Just not on trans articles where someone might actually post the truth.

Good move that would be - putting a pervert into a women's prison that holds lots of vulnerable females. many of whom will already have been abused by men. Confused Shame on The Guardian for not running the full story.

@TownsendMark on twitter

YANBU

And outrageous reporting. We can mention that the prison is so evil it didn't give him HAIR STRAIGHTENERS but not that he BROKE INTO HOUSES TO PARADE ABOUT IN THE UNDERWEAR OF THE TEENAGE GIRLS WHO LIVED THERE?

What is the matter with the Guardian? It's perfectly clear this individual would be a risk in the female estate.

There are plenty of unstable, disordered individuals in prison. They quite often go on outlandish protests in order to control their environment. That's because their thinking is disordered. We don't let them control their environment because they are dangerous criminals. That's why they're in prison, FFS. Transfer him to Broadmoor, by all means. But a women's prison is the last place he should be.

newtlover · 27/01/2018 16:43

YANBU
good that the local paper uses his male name, no confusion there

Justabunchofcunts · 27/01/2018 16:45

Yes, I would tweet about omitting this info. Explain how this affects women's rights and that you feel the guardian has a tendency to miss this out. Ask why in a reasonable way, try not to sound like a nutter (easy when angry).

Boulshired · 27/01/2018 16:46

Would female prisoner get hair straighteners? Seems very dangerous the damage they could do.

flapsDentata · 27/01/2018 16:46

I’ve tweeted him ladies. It’s #LabourLosingWomen @SoylentGreen78 let’s make him answer.

ohfortuna · 27/01/2018 16:47

I think we need to have prisons for TIMs, there seem to be a fair few of them?

Justabunchofcunts · 27/01/2018 16:47

LangCleg your caps comment made me laugh because it's so ridiculous Then cry.

ThymeLord · 27/01/2018 16:47

I'm going to tweet him now. The whole article is completely misleading.

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 27/01/2018 16:48

The Guardian also doesn't mention the fact that he's been in prison for over 8 years, which seems quite a long sentence for the UK considering the general opinion that sentences aren't long enough.

AngryAttackKittens · 27/01/2018 16:49

So The Guardian is deliberately withholding important information when they run stories about trans prisoners, and also not allowing comments which means that it's impossible for any readers who do know the whole story to inform others.

Well that's not incredibly fucking sinister or anything.

Justabunchofcunts · 27/01/2018 16:50

His twitter is @TownsendMark

(In case anyone is confused with solyent's above)

flapsDentata · 27/01/2018 16:51

Yep. Silly flaps. Thanks Cunts x

ohreallyohreallyoh · 27/01/2018 16:51

However, it's the crazy lefties that would give this scum support

Sigh. My politics are a. Sry deep shade of red. I would never support this.

ladyballs · 27/01/2018 16:51

YANBU. Vile man.

ThymeLord · 27/01/2018 16:52

It's very sinister, I agree.

If the proposals for self-ID came in, this person would be able to get a gender recognition certificate simply by filling in a form and would then have to be moved to the female estate. MoJ can only exercise discretion where a trans prisoner has no GRC.

Scottish consultation on self-ID is here and is open until 1st of March, to anybody, not just those in Scotland. UK govt. have also said they intend to consult on this although we haven't heard anything for a while. It could be that they've quietly dropped it or they could be waiting to see the outcome of the Scottish consultation.

The guardian article says this person has a diagnosis of gender dysphoria. I don't believe that because if he did he'd be pursuing a GRC. What he has is autogynephilia. It's quite breathtaking that this case is being championed as a poor transwoman deprived of her rights while at the same time we are told autogynephilia doesn't exist.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 27/01/2018 16:55

The guardian article is atrociously misleading. I'm quite shocked that they would withhold pertinent information like that.

thenightsky · 27/01/2018 17:00

Are there many (any) TIM prisoners who are not in for sex offences?

Justabunchofcunts · 27/01/2018 17:01

Some great tweets. Keep going and focus on the reasons this affects women and query the reporting bias. There are lots of challenges for trans people and it is important not to give the impression in anger that this isn't important too.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 27/01/2018 17:02

Typical Guardian: selective with the facts. What was once a good quality newspaper isn't fit for wrapping chips now.
