AIBU Trollhunting is ruining AIBU

I understand troll hunting if the OP is giving dangerous advice. However, increasingly every single poster is being grilled by troll hunters about every aspect of their post. It makes a thread hard to follow and really boring to read.

I don't understand why the troll hunters do it, there is an easy to use report button. I have read several threads in the last week where the OP was subjected to constant snide comments about the veracity of their post. I think if these troll hunters persist then people won't want to post at all.

Kate. And the rest of hq. There definitely are are posters who deliberately antagonise and snipe and carry on and on and on and glad at other posters to try to get them to snap and respond yet because they stay just this side of guidance they’re allowed to carry on.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 31/01/2018 14:31

At the end of the day it's the trolls who are to blame. There's no getting away from that however you want to dress it up.

We're working on this Blue - but we need people to report it, or we miss it. So please do when you come across it?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 31/01/2018 14:53

I do hear what you're saying Fuckit and agree to a large extent but still maintain that the trolls are the ones damaging the site in the main. That and those who obviously dislike MN but can't keep away and just keep picking holes at certain posters.

Yep

Pipe down Maud. This look doesn't suit you.

Oh haha. Says who? Are you “important”?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 31/01/2018 14:57

As important as anyone I guess Smile

Bluedoglead · 31/01/2018 14:58

Kate I do but I feel like I’m telling tales. And it’s hard when you know they are skating just this side of guidelines. I don’t want to get banned for reporting

Why would you think you'd be banned for reporting Blue? I saw a post recently from MNHQ saying that does not happen.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/01/2018 15:11

I agree with ilovesooty, if you need to namechange for privacy then what's the problem posting in OTBT or 30 days only? Why shouldn't ilovesooty or anyone else come up with ideas? MNHQ can accept or disregard them if they want to. Stop being so narcy, RoseWhiteTips.

Bluedoglead · 31/01/2018 15:11

Well yes duck I saw that too but I also saw the posts saying that someone was banned for reporting the same person. Because that was against guidance. But if the same person is posting aggressively and you report them every time you do it then won’t you be banned?

Bluedoglead · 31/01/2018 15:12

Even in OTBT or 30 days it can be linked to your normal post histor amd potentiwlly lifted and linked by the red tops.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 31/01/2018 15:14

Rose

Why are you so aggressive?

Bluedoglead, Really? I didn't realise that. I naively thought the thread/post would stay for 30days and then disappear. That definitely wouldn't work then if it puts a poster at risk of being outed.

Bluedoglead · 31/01/2018 15:24

It stays for 30days. It could be lifted in those 30days. Even from OTBT.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 31/01/2018 15:27

That's true. Even though those places aren't 'highlighted' on the site, you can still find them easily enough.

This though is exactly why the troll-hunting has to stop though because if you have a name-changer (or even a regular actually) who changes a few details, they may be called a troll as it's different to something that they've mentioned previously.

I really don't know what the answer is but my most hated posters are the ones who change just to be goady fuckers. I'd prefer any troll over those.

RedDogsBeg · 31/01/2018 15:32

MNHQ have said they don't ban people for reporting, some posters have said they know of others who have been banned for over-reporting the same person but I very much doubt it is as simple and straightforward as that and, of course, only the poster's side of the story is ever heard.

Also, if people repeatedly name-change to be goady then a poster would be unaware they are reporting the same person every time.
