AIBU Trollhunting is ruining AIBU

I understand troll hunting if the OP is giving dangerous advice. However, increasingly every single poster is being grilled by troll hunters about every aspect of their post. It makes a thread hard to follow and really boring to read.

I don't understand why the troll hunters do it, there is an easy to use report button. I have read several threads in the last week where the OP was subjected to constant snide comments about the veracity of their post. I think if these troll hunters persist then people won't want to post at all.

Maudlinmaud, No, that's not what Cote was doing. She was refuting what Sparklingbrook had said about not being here 'as often', with an advanced search and list of all the times that Sparkling had posted, saying her post was a lie. It wasn't done to be 'helpful' and trying to make excuses for it is pointless.

Who has the time or interest to care about how many times people post here in a day?

This debate is remarkably like the arguments I listen to between my DDs (8 and 5) and their cousins or school friends. It's as if some of you haven't left the playground!!

Lying I'm not making excuses. I cringed when I saw Cotes post, I think most people did. Only she knows why she posted it though. It read like an answer to what spakling had posted, did it not.

Some posters don’t know when to let things go though.

Fair enough but it didn't read like that to me, Maudlinmaud. To be honest, it read like all the other posts where Cote has posted on this thread - belligerent and bullish, yet completely missing or ignoring the point of what was said. That list post was to bring Sparkling down and the two following sheep-like posts show that.

I didn't think Cote was like that but perhaps the fan-girling on MNTrolls went to her head a bit. I can't think of anything more embarrassing than that but each to their own.

This is a really interesting thread and it would be a shame if it were deleted for derailing.

I'd have put the exact same response if Cote had made the claim she's hardly on and Sparkling had put the actual times on.

Gawd, the quality of debate has gone down in AIBU, as has reading comprehension. Clearly it's contagious.

Poster A said to Poster B that she spent less time than she used to. She explicitly referenced how much time she used to spend, and then said she wasn't spending that much time any more.

Poster C then came along like a bulldozer, and tried to be clever. Operative word is 'tried'.

Such ineffectual nitpicking reminds me of the stupid arguments my primary-aged kids try to have with me to get out of doing their jobs.

I assume our resident mathematical genius does understand what a relative comparison is?

I’ve had a post deleted for calling a poster on her patronising.

MN won’t delete posts without them being reported and as far as I can tell no one who is having a go at Cotes is going to report other posts having a go at her..
