AIBU Trollhunting is ruining AIBU

I understand troll hunting if the OP is giving dangerous advice. However, increasingly every single poster is being grilled by troll hunters about every aspect of their post. It makes a thread hard to follow and really boring to read.

I don't understand why the troll hunters do it, there is an easy to use report button. I have read several threads in the last week where the OP was subjected to constant snide comments about the veracity of their post. I think if these troll hunters persist then people won't want to post at all.

There, I knew we'd reach agreement finally. Neither of us could care less what the other thinks. :)

CoteDAzur · 28/01/2018 21:44

That too, but it's not what I said Smile

I really wish you would read a bit more carefully so most of your misunderstandings could be avoided.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 28/01/2018 22:01

Well let's clear that up now shall we so that we can both drop it.

Dixie's post came in after mine. I was on the thread and seem to recall that the photo had 'MNHQ' or 'Mumsnet' on it? If I'm wrong then please do correct it for posterity as there will be lots avidly viewing this thread, I'm sure.

Obviously there was no reason for MN to get all cross and tetchy about it then?

My 'imaginary' private area is sparked by the two snips attached.

Yes I was around during the D&C saga, it was disgusting, no argument there. What does that have to do with the MN poster critiquing? It's there for everyone to see. No need to answer that, I really don't care but it's disingenuous to suggest that the Trolls site is otherwise.

There, I believe that I've covered your points and I think we're done unless there was anything else?

I gathered, Janey, thanks. I already apologised to Dipping about the private group as she'd already said there wasn't one. I was explaining to Cote where the misunderstanding had come from, that was all.

Lying - Oh how you twist yourself up in your misunderstandings Grin

That is a DIFFERENT place on Reddit. You can see that because has a DIFFERENT name: "Mumsnet".

The Reddit sub we are talking about here is called "MNTrolls".

Actually, if you are interested, the mod of that Mumsnet sub turned out to be a man. He came on MNTrolls and explained himself for a bit, claiming that there is nobody on there, and saying that he contacted MNHQ and said he was willing to let them have that sub, but didn't get a reply. I'm not sure if I believe any of it tbh, except that he really is a man (as you can see in his posting history).

I would link to that thread but it will just get deleted so you'll have to look it up yourself.

Dipping already said so at about 9.20 and I apologised 10mins later. I attached the snips to explain where the misunderstanding had come from as I'm not in the habit of lying. I don't know what else there is to say?

X-posted, Janey. Otherwise, of course I would have said "As Janey said some minutes before me..." Hmm

Trueheart1 · 29/01/2018 07:27

Does anyone see any irony that troll Hunters have taken over this thread?

So what Janey? Are you saying it's impossible to not refresh a page for 15 minutes before your reply is written & posted?

Wait a minute...

You seem to be questioning me & doubting my answers. Don't you know that's frowned on by people like the OP, who believe we should never question anybody?

Coconutspongexo · 29/01/2018 08:02

Truehunter but they haven’t Hmm so no there’s no irony.

It's not troll-hunting alone, the gradual decline in numbers of intelligent and witty posters is behind the Nethunning of this site. MN HQ have lost the spark and have either employed drones with very simple programming or, cleverly, recruiting bots with similar IQ and joie de vivre, or rather lack of, as Nethuns audience has come to expect.
Clicks go up as droves of huns desert old hunting grounds, ad revenues go up. Makes perfect business sense.
Easier to cater for the masses, the MNs of old were generally independednt critical thinkers therefore less likely to fall for the banner ads.

Toodle pip.

Trueheart1 · 29/01/2018 08:57

What is plopped?

OP posts:
Trueheart1 · 29/01/2018 08:59

Sorry I meant, what are Ploppers?

OP posts:
Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 29/01/2018 09:00

true

When someone comes on a thread about cats for example and says

Dogs are much better you are all massive cunts for not liking dogs

And then they go away and dont 'debate' why dogs are better

They just came on the thread to be mean

Funnily enough im on another thread where it looks like someone has plopped on to say that people on MN are not very clever

They might come back...but i doubt it
