Apparently this has already happened, back in July 2017. Shock

But the orange one try again...

This is unreal. Two of my @FBI agent/friends who work in different field offices told me they are going to resign if the @DevinNunes lie-filled memo is released. "Our jobs are dangerous enough w/o a bunch of politicians putting targets on our backs for the crazies," one said.

...but @DevinNunes is doing a great job serving his master, Putin - or caving to the blackmail coming from Russia. He is attacking our bravest Americans. His behavior makes no sense. If Trump reacts, he is set up for impeachment.

...these guys who plan to leave have nothing to do with the Russia investigation. One is in a fraud unit, the other handles general crimes.

I don't think he actually knows what he's doing, Ginger.

More Adam Blickstein Retweeted Donald Trump Jr.
Just like when he unilaterally released the Trump Tower emails, Trump Jr. may have just got his dad into more legal hot water by admitting McCabe was fired, not resigned. Maybe Eric is the smart one after all...

Apparently there are a LOT of protesters outside the GOP retreat right now. Grin

Senior White House official comes to back of Air Force One and tells reporters Trump is "OK" releasing the memo and he will tell Congress that "probably tomorrow," per pooler @tparti. Official declined to take any questions or be identified publicly, per pool.

@Comey

All should appreciate the FBI speaking up. I wish more of our leaders would. But take heart: American history shows that, in the long run, weasels and liars never hold the field, so long as good people stand up. Not a lot of schools or streets named for Joe McCarthy.

Has Gates been flipped?

Gates may be negotiating with Mueller's team

AcrossthePond55 · 02/02/2018 00:12

Devin Nunes is so far up Scrotus' ass that he takes a flashlight (torch) when he visits the WH! He makes me sick.

The release of the memo will be interesting. But it's the same as it ever was. Scrotus' fanbase will believe it's the stone tablets brought down from Sinai and that Nunes is Moses. Those of us with working brains will see it for the pile of excrement that it really is. And we'll be no further forward in the court of public opinion than we were yesterday.

I remember GOP friends of my parents and family members 'falling away' from Nixon in the early days of Watergate as more and more of his dirty dealings were revealed. I just don't see that happening with Scrotus. The difference, I think, is Fox News and the 'fake news' propaganda. No one was accusing the news of being 'fake' in the reporting on Watergate. And the fact that Nixon, for all his crap, was a career politician. He would no more have 'tweeted' bullshit and lies about reporters and his opponents than he would have paraded naked down the street.

It's a different world today. And as someone who remembers Watergate and the 'way things were' in Society in the early '70s, I just don't think that we can expect things to run along the same lines. More politicians are strictly in it for the money, more are unethical and greedy. And Society is less caring but also less naive than it was back then. It's going to be much slower, much harder, and get much dirtier before this is all over.

My main worry with this is how it looks as though the republicans have made a choice to completely abandon rule of law etc and are aiding trump in managing investigations into himself. They’re priming conditions to be able to disregard and ignore any of mueller’s findings.

cozietoesie · 02/02/2018 00:37

Some staunch supporters are leaving, though. The Midterms will be ...........revelatory, I suspect.

thebewilderness · 02/02/2018 00:56

I don't think Nunes is on team Trump. Not any more. I think Nunes is dancing as fast as he can because he expects to be indicted.

cozietoesie · 02/02/2018 00:58

I don't think that Nunes is on Team Anything. He's enjoying being important - always a bad idea.

TheClaws · 02/02/2018 01:43

I think Nunes has recognised he’s backed the wrong team, but he’s backed it so hard and so enthusiastically there’s no going back. He’s the poster boy for “that escalated quickly ..” and for him, a simple memo has spiralled out of control. I don’t have much sympathy.

cozietoesie · 02/02/2018 01:45

I don't have any. Smile

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 02/02/2018 02:10

Nunes was pulling this shit way before the memo.

  • he sent twin aides to London to try and find Steele without informing the rest of the commitee, presumably to smear the dossier
  • he set up a farce of a press conference trying to pass on information that he received from the White House as new pressing information he urgently needed to share with the White House and the wider world, in a playbook that looks eerily like the memo fiasco.
  • he has consistently blocked democrats avenues of enquiry despite being recused.
  • refused to subpoena Deutsch bank

This isn’t accidental. He’s trying to throw the investigation off course and has been from the start. And now the gop are openly enabling him to do so.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 02/02/2018 02:11

Two aides, not twin aides!

lionheart · 02/02/2018 05:58

Twin aides would look good in the movie version.

Donald Trump’s FBI memo release 'risks revealing British spying methods'

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/02/01/donald-trumps-fbi-memo-release-risks-revealing-british-spying/

Britain’s spy agencies risk having their intelligence methods revealed if Donald Trump releases a controversial memo about the FBI, congressional figures have warned.

The UK will be less likely to share confidential information if the secret memo about the Russian investigation is made public, according to those opposing its release.

Mr Trump is expected to tell Congress on Friday that he has no objections to the memo being released. He is also not likely to request that any of part of it be redacted, senior sources in the administration have told US media.

A source in US Congress looking into Russian election meddling told The Telegraph that Britain’s security services would be “rankled” if the information is made public.

Figures in America's Justice Department have also reportedly been warning that the UK-US intelligence sharing relationship could be damaged by the move.
