Why do I find Phillip and Holly so annoying!!

So, just caught the last bit of This Morning and is it just me or have they become really smug lately? Their egos are through the roof and the way they try and find something really funny and burst out laughing is getting a bit tiresome. These hilarious innuendos or slip of the tongues are not set up at all by them or the production team boring. They can never top Fern Britton's 'see you don't mind dunking a bit of beef' gaff, much as they try.

I do prefer Eamonn and Ruth, much more humble and in touch with the viewers.

Am I the only one who feels like this? I am not Fern Britton by the way Grin

Well my big mistake from this thread was watching TM just now.
Are Housewives lazy? They could have got 2 better guests in to debate the point but actually Holly and Phil are just plastic.
The reason other presenters were better I think is because they have a background in journalism/documentaries they knew how to look for answers and exploring points of view.
H&P just look like they are trying very hard to understand

incywincybitofa · 25/01/2018 11:07

On another note- does anyone think maybe Phil and Holly hate each other and there will be some explosive revelation in 20 years?

Largebucket · 25/01/2018 11:56

I’ve never seen This Morning and my only exposure to the two of them had been Philip in the broom cupboard in my yoof, his wine column in the Waitrose weekend paper thing and Holly in the worst programme ever made aka Celebrity Juice. However, the DCs have recently got really into ice skating so Dancing on Ice has been on in my house. I hadn’t realised that PS & HW were the presenters and dear me, the vibe from them is just bizarre. I feel like they aren’t presenting the show, they are introducing a skating “feature” that it just happens to be time for on the schedule at that moment. I feel really uncomfortable when they are on. I know Tess Daly isn’t popular on here but I do think she and Claudia have genuine warmth in their dynamic (at least collectively) but I feel like the air around P & H just crackles with “agent-negotiated fee”.

Grammy78 · 25/01/2018 12:27

Did Phil just call Holly a 'pervert' for dipping a millionaire's shortcake into her tea?

BrightonBollock · 25/01/2018 12:44

There is a distinct 'iciness' between Philip Schofield and Phil Vickery..❄️

ElsieMc · 25/01/2018 12:46

Never a huge fan of the show but wow has it gone downhill recently. I thought I was the only person who did not like them. It has become so clichéd and riddled with in jokes as to make it uncomfortable viewing as though you have intruded on some private outing you were not invited to.

I purposely avoided it after the awards evening because I knew what would be coming.

I had read on some thread recently that they are both not as nice as you may think and that Eammon and Ruth are a whole lot nicer in person. I accept Eammon says the wrong thing, can be grumpy and a bit irritable but is held in check by Ruth who does not hide her annoyance or irritation.

I much prefer that someone says something controversial (god forbid) or gets is wrong and incenses people. So much better than the beige self adoration club.

Piers Morgan actually said something correct this week. No-one dares say anything "wrong" any more so the content of day time progs in particular is super-bland. It is the same for the current Cabinet, love or loathe them, there is actually only one who has a personality and is controversial. Just grey.

DameSquashalot · 25/01/2018 13:01

One of things that bugs me about Phil is that he describes himself as a journalist and thinks he really hardcore. He’s just a bland tv presenter.

Maybe we should get Gordon the Gofer to come and remind him how he once we

DameSquashalot · 25/01/2018 13:01

was

Battleax · 25/01/2018 13:04

Did anybody else see the "Phil S walks over Westminster Bridge" travesty? It was his nauseatingly hammy "act of defiance" a few days (a day?!) after the Westminster Bridge attacks. He deserves to be sacked and shunned for that alone. Narcisstic prat.

If you’re after quality daytime fare on telly, you can’t beat repeats of Frasier on C4 imho. Grin

Used to love Richard and Judy and Denise the agony aunt, pet. Then straight into Des and Mel for lunch. Reminds me o when DD1 was little.

Battleax · 25/01/2018 13:09

Actually it might have been a photo of PS on the bridge and Eammon and Ruth wandering around "poignantly" in a video 🙄

Isn't that a crime you've just committed Julie?

PuppyMonkey · 25/01/2018 13:11

ShockHmm

Battleax · 25/01/2018 13:12

I hope you get banned for that, TBH.

AllButterShortbread · 25/01/2018 13:31

Banned for what?

Battleax · 25/01/2018 13:32

Posting what was clearly a private photograph of a high profile woman.

LastGirlOnTheLeft

Ha Ha that was me, glad I'm not alone :)

ManicUnicorn · 25/01/2018 15:36

I want to know what Julie posted?! Gutted I missed it.

Schofileds commentary of the Royal Wedding was laughably awful. No doubt he'll be trotted out by ITV for the next one. I agree with the poster who said it's obvious that Eamonn and Ruth are proper journalists.

The80sweregreat · 25/01/2018 15:48

The thing i don't get it why anyone watches it? If people just switched off maybe they would replace it with something worth watching instead? It must have a huge audience as its been going for decades now and is clearly popular - its format hasnt really altered that much I don't think ( regardless of who is presenting it) and it obviously has appeal for that slot in the morning.
Not sure who will leave first though - it must be due new presenters one day? even they must be fed up with their jobs sometimes!!

DameSquashalot · 25/01/2018 17:00

Schofe seems to want us to believe that there is something going on between him and Holls. Maybe he thinks it will boost viewing figures.

I wonder if they’re reading this and laughing smugly to themselves. Grin

GooodMythicalMorning · 25/01/2018 17:01

That is why I dont watch it. Netflix is better
