Why do I find Phillip and Holly so annoying!!

So, just caught the last bit of This Morning and is it just me or have they become really smug lately? Their egos are through the roof and the way they try and find something really funny and burst out laughing is getting a bit tiresome. These hilarious innuendos or slip of the tongues are not set up at all by them or the production team boring. They can never top Fern Britton's 'see you don't mind dunking a bit of beef' gaff, much as they try.

I do prefer Eamonn and Ruth, much more humble and in touch with the viewers.

Am I the only one who feels like this? I am not Fern Britton by the way Grin

I started going off them when they turned up ‘half drunk and still in last nights clothes’ last year. Fake and attention seeking behaviour.

Butterfly1066 · 24/01/2018 20:15

Phillip Scofield ruined that Prince Phillip interview the smunt

raisedbyguineapigs · 24/01/2018 20:23

I can't believe they have rehashed that same tired old joke from last year about them still being trashed from the ntas and coming straight to the studio's. It's clearly nonsense. The show starts at 10.30 for a start. I agree they are vacuous and annoying. I can't believe the lovely Philip Schofield has become this. If say it had ruined my childhood in faux outrage but it's just the sort of stupid thing they would come out with. Unfunny and unoriginal but they'd still laugh hilariously at their own 'joke'

Haudyerwheesht · 24/01/2018 20:23

I can't stand them. I hate the fake laughing, the faux concern, the 'treats' Phil doles out to bullied teens and the like which usually turn out to be getting to meet him in some guise or other.

I hate the way Holly plays the blonde bimbo and Phillip rolls his eyes at her endearingly. I also hate the way he refers to 'steph' and 'the girls' when talking about his family. Also when Holly does the 'aren't I so good with babies' shite.

In conclusion, I'm not keen!

When Phil Vickory is on the cooking segment he always looks like he'd like to stab them in the eye. I don't like Eamonn either mind you but I like RUth and Alison.

MissionItsPossible
I’m the same, spend so long scrolling that I lose interest. Or binge on a box set then get distracted & never complete it.

I’ve been on maternity leave & f me daytime tv is shite! particularly ITV. Jeremy Kyle, TM, LW all just inane nonsense. I used to watch TM back in my student days & quite enjoyed it then. It says something when you look forward to the C5 afternoon movie!

SuperPug · 24/01/2018 20:35

Both are unbearable.
Feels like they alienate viewers with the whole "in joke" vibe. Isn't Holly's career more or less based on her marriage to the producer of most of her shows?

TheLegendOfBeans · 24/01/2018 20:37

Holly appears to have got more “I’m so ditzy, me” as the years have passed.

I can’t bear “Pip” Schofield but there’s something about Holly’s recent dramatic weight loss generating her need to do a daily “outfit of the day” on instagram that gives me the feckin rage.

OP, YADDDDNBU.

Fluffyears · 24/01/2018 20:39

Did anyone see a clip on NTA’s of Holly asking to hold a newborn. Now I may be wrong but the babies father was holding her and dressed in scrubs. This suggested that the mother was possibly in recovery from a section. If so did she really hold that newborn before it’s mother????!!! If that was the case I would be livid as the mother. The dad probably felt he couldn’t say no on camera.

misskelly · 24/01/2018 20:41

I don’t know ho anyone can watch this, it seems completely centred around reality tv shows and I don’t watch any so anytime this is on I totally confused about what they are on about.

I loved Richard & Judy, I thought they covered a lot of interesting stuff and didn’t just aim for the lowest common denominator.

MissEliza · 24/01/2018 20:45

When Phil Vickery is on the cooking segment, he always looks like he'd like to stab them in the eye Do you think that's something to do with PS being paid more than his wife?

mrsharrison · 24/01/2018 20:46

So true! Vickery hates them!

JaneEyre70 · 24/01/2018 20:51

Today's effort was so staged as to be embarassing....... She let slip towards the end of the show that they had a full day of filming arranged so it shows how fake their "hangovers" were.... They are too smug for their own good now, and his muttley laughing is just cringeworthy. Ugh.

raidthefridge · 24/01/2018 20:54

I agree. It's getting a bit too much now. They are almost becoming parodies of themselves. The whole show is incredibly cliquey as are their connections with their other tv shows. But they keep winning these awards so it will continue.

In the end they'll be gone but they'll have made their fucking millions by then. Hmm

TheLegendOfBeans · 24/01/2018 21:03

Also: they keep robbing Jeremy Kyle of his deserved NTA

I’m only half joking

Youngmystery · 24/01/2018 21:13

I dunno why anyone likes Holly's style. I saw a top she wore that everyone loved, it was a white blouse with a high neck up to her chin basically. Made her look dumpy and like a nun. Wouldn't be caught dead wearing it, was so ugly.

Haven't watched them in years as they annoy me too much.

ManicUnicorn · 24/01/2018 21:15

I started a thread in Chat a few weeks ago asking if anyone else thought that Phil was a twat. The response was overwhelming. He's unanimously a twat!

The joke about them being hungover was about as funny as piles first time around. Now it's just pathetic, attention seeking nonsense.

KnowYourPlace · 24/01/2018 21:24

Holly is married to an exec producer at ITV. Basically his job is to decide what programmes get made. That’s why Phil is so up Holly’s arse. Because Holly’s husband exec produced The Cube (is that what it was called? That PS presented?), also Mr & Mrs, Dancing On Ice, and Celebrity Juice. Those are all shows produced by Holly’s husband. They have a monopoly on shit TV for brain dead idiots and are high on the power. They’ve completely lost touch with their audience.

What really turned me off was learning that Holly’s husband was planning on creating a show for that Dapper Laughs twat YouTube comedian who was a massive misogynist and a bit sexually predatory. It only didn’t happen because there was such a public backlash to the bloke who does Dapper Laughs that the show had to be shelved.

Cunts all.

user1479265923 · 24/01/2018 21:37

Tbh, Op, as you can manage sentences and critical thinking you're not really This Morning's target audience. ITV is 90 % telly for the intellectually bereft.

Grin why thank you, I won't be tuning in again.

To be fair on PS and HW they are probably nice people but I imagine the producers pressurise them to have chemistry as it makes 'good tv'. Or could it be that Phil got rid of Fern didn't support Fern when she was bullied out of her job and now he is shitting himself and is determined to make it work with Holly, a bit like a marriage breakdown, the cheater desperately tries to make it work with the other woman to justify it?

OP posts:
ManicUnicorn · 24/01/2018 21:39

Holly was a kids TV presenter originally. That's where she met Dan, her husband who was the producer, she then got the Dancing on Ice job.

I bet she wouldn't get half as much work if it weren't for him.

MissEliza · 24/01/2018 21:42

I remember a segment with Phil Vickery when Ferne was doing Strictly. PS asked about her and OV mumbled something and seemed grumpy about it. I couldn't decide if it was because he wasn't happy about Ferne doing SCD or he didn't want to discuss her with PS.

dayswithaY · 24/01/2018 21:44

I can't stand them and that fake boring hangover joke has worn so thin now. They're meant to be highly paid professionals not teenagers binge drinking cider at the park. Trying to be edgy by pretending they pulled an all nighter when they did no such thing. Holly has been on a strict diet so there is no way she ate that Full English pizza she was showing off about. Every time I look at her all I see is Princess Fiona from Shrek in a nylon jumper and leather skirt.

NancyDonahue · 24/01/2018 21:49

I long for the days of Supermarket Sweep, Kilroy (or Vanessa Wink), Anne & Nick and Neighbours.

Ah-HAH!! That makes so much sense now! Thank you for this. So that is why he's up her chocolate star all the time.

I thought Fern was sacked because she was promoting Ryvitas for her weight loss and keeping the fact that she had her stomach stapled a secret? Do you think Fern was ousted to make way for an itv producer's wife? Shock

KnowYourPlace, great post. I think we’ve all had enough of their monopoly. Hate their dynamic, Holly playing up to ditsy blonde image and how it’s oh so funny when she says something inaccurate, he plays the patronising ‘I put up with her cos she looks good’ card, sickening both
