As above (at the risk of sounding tin foil hat) and if we're not, what the hell is going on in the world, what's causing it?

I think it's bemusement and concern - like Winston in 1984 who could see through the blatant` party lies but he worries others can't.

I like program like Radio 4 More or less that looks at where the statistics used in politics and media actual originate at – it can be quiet illuminating at times,

Most useful thing about GCSE History to me was the source work for me - evaluating sources why is someone saying this, where they actual there or where else is their information coming from , do they have an obvious bias or agenda - that sort of basic stuff.

I think John Oliver does a good vaccines talk .

Falmer · 26/01/2018 12:00

Have never said "there's a shadowy them". I think I've made it clear a number of times that personally, I have concerns about a number of issues and have asked for others' input. The news on the UK Column differs from mainstream news quite a lot.

Just out of interest, what country is that? Obviously don't answer if you'd rather not.

Portugal. It's not a secret. :)

Lweji · 26/01/2018 12:07

Bet DM won't use this thread. Wonder why?

What do you mean by that?
What do you think they'd be afraid of?

See, this is the type of cryptic comment that sounds trolly rather than inviting debate.
What is it that you're worried about and what is your actual position?

Lweji · 26/01/2018 12:09

Again, wasn't me that mentioned anything about flat earth.

It doesn't matter. It was an example of a ridiculous conspiracy theory.

We could not engage, but that would mean being complicit with said ridiculous theory.

humptyboggart · 26/01/2018 12:26

Fingerprints (biometrics in general) are the same as NHS numbers or NI numbers. Less easy to nick, though. It's uncomfortable for technophobes - I can be one.

Vitalogy · 26/01/2018 12:31

It doesn't matter. It was an example of a ridiculous conspiracy theory. Fair enough but you put it in with a quote of mine so that's why I made the comment. Moving along.....

Falmer · 26/01/2018 12:45

Thanks for that theEagle. It was both educational and funny, 2 birds with one stoneSmile Enjoyed that.

Does anyone watch the UK Column news, alternative news programme?

Wasn't aware of it however I googled who's behind it seems to indicate it's a conspiracy theorist.

Falmer · 26/01/2018 13:04

Lweji, sorry should have explained, I'm a bugger for that! I believe that mainstream covers things up, local and national. I have personal experience of a local paper not daring to run our story because it involved the council leader. Also, experience of a national paper who wouldn't cover a story because there was "not enough cases". Yet a group of us had gathered about 200 cases. This was 10 years ago. 20 years ago, the local paper did willingly cover a similar story involving councillers and lea, but 10 years later, too afraid.

Sorry theEagle, meant to say informative not educational. Educational sounds a bit crass, not very good with words I'm afraid. Brain's worn out with having to fight yet another battle for sn son, even though he's now adult!

I've written some tongue in cheek posts, so I admit I haven't been very helpful in keeping the thread on the straight and narrow.

I met Professor Hawking several times between 1997 and 1999, he used to come into the shop I worked in at the time in Cambridge, and can confirm he was very much a real human being then.

MadyaunMylford · 26/01/2018 18:50

Anyone watched Cowspiracy? wooooooooooo

MadyaunMylford · 26/01/2018 18:51

Sorry I meant Moooooooooooo lol

That is not the query.

WitchesHatRim · 26/01/2018 19:01

Yes, I think we've established that, yourself and two other posters have confirmed that there is a real man with the name Stephen Hawking. That is not the query.

Might not be your querry. It has been some people's however.

Lweji · 26/01/2018 19:03

@WitchesHatRim
We don't even know if you're real. Wink

Vitalogy · 26/01/2018 19:16

Might not be your querry. It has been some people's however. Grin I'm not sure who's got the wrong end of the stick here. The Stephen Hawking subject was first brought up by myself on this thread but it's been a bit of a one sided conversation as no one has commented, other than to say they've met a man that is supposedly Stephen Hawking.

Falmer · 26/01/2018 19:19

Is anyone willing to watch one episode of uk column news on youtube and give me their opinion? One of the recent ones then we could compare with recent mainstream?

OP posts:
Lweji · 26/01/2018 19:27

I'm curious.
What would be the point of replacing SH?
Did they get a normal person pretending to be him? Someone with a similar condition? How did they make him look so much like him?
Is it an advanced android?

As conspiracy theories go, it would be easier to suggest someone else was operating his computer. Although, I still wouldn't see the point of doing it.
