As above (at the risk of sounding tin foil hat) and if we're not, what the hell is going on in the world, what's causing it?

public services failing before our eyes , particularly the NHS

Absolutely

I don't like this scanning of the kids finger prints at school to get their lunch. The thing is, they'll be that used to doing it, they'll think little of doing the same when they join the workforce.

Following my cancer surgery, the nurses never cleaned the wound and I developed a severe infection. I had 9 more visits to theatre because it needed restitching, but with the infection, couldn't heal. Finally, a plastic surgeon was sent from another city. He examined and then informed staff nurse it needed to be kept uncovered, for air to get to it, in order to heal. As the specialist walked away from the bed, staff nurse muttered "well, I don't think we'll be doing that"! WTF! Unbelievable! In hospital for over a month instead of the scheduled 5 days.

Vitalogy, exactly. This must concern people, surely?

There are laws you can cite to prevent your information being used in a certain way or to get access to what info is held about you. This whole area is about to be updated in law to be clearer on biometrics too.
You can go to court to insist your info is only used in a certain way.

Vitalogy · 25/01/2018 17:35

Vitalogy, exactly. This must concern people, surely? I know.
When they start introducing this into work places, plus retina scanning, people will have no choice, either do it or lose your job.

whooptifeckindo Hopefully. I'm not so sure though.

whooptifeckindo · 25/01/2018 18:10

It's my field in real life. The law is there.

Vitalogy · 25/01/2018 19:09

You can go to court to insist your info is only used in a certain way. Why should you have to in the first place and what if you can't afford to.

whooptifeckindo · 25/01/2018 19:38

Or you can complain to the regulator for free.

Falmer · 25/01/2018 19:58

Who is the regulator in this case whoop?

OP posts:
whooptifeckindo · 25/01/2018 20:06

Information Commissioner

Vitalogy · 25/01/2018 20:21

It's all part of the government.

Falmer · 25/01/2018 20:42

whoop is the IC the person to go to have innacurate lies reports changed? Is that possible, do you know? We were told they couldn't be changed (even with documented evidences against the innacuracies) only notes attaching to the reports? Sorry to pick your brains here?

Vitalogy do you think we will all be getting microchipped at some point, as predicted?

OP posts:
whooptifeckindo · 25/01/2018 21:03

Op, give it a go. Accuracy is a tricky area if the thing you don't like is, for example, an accurate record of someone's opinion. Even if you disagree with it. However, I think the organisation can be asked to add to your record that you disagree with the opinion .

whooptifeckindo · 25/01/2018 21:04

Read The Circle - soon to be a movie with Emma Watson. It should give you some encouragement about the human spirit to resist being seduced by technology.

Falmer · 25/01/2018 21:11

Thanks whoop Wink

Can't believe this daft thread is still going! OP and others, I have met Stephen Hawking on several occasions and have been in his house. He's definitely real Shock Biscuit

Vitalogy · 25/01/2018 21:54

do you think we will all be getting microchipped at some point, as predicted? It wouldn't surprise me. Probably sold to us in a way that it'll make our lives easier/more convenient. Look how contactless payment has taken off. Seems like the most popular Christmas present this year was the likes of Amazon Echo. Just think, get a micro chip, if you were ever in an accident all your medical records would be available at hand to the medical staff. No need to carry any ID. etc etc.

It should give you some encouragement about the human spirit to resist being seduced by technology. It's not going too well so far, if you watch how most people walk around outside these days. Their heads are down glued to their phones.

Vitalogy · 25/01/2018 22:02

I have met Stephen Hawking on several occasions and have been in his house. He's definitely real Before or after 1985? Because they reckon he was replaced around then. Like I said before, I've not made up my mind. Have you watched the video I posted?

whooptifeckindo · 25/01/2018 22:06

So much despair, Vitology. You're either revelling in it or it is making you very sad. Sorry to see it.

Vitalogy · 25/01/2018 22:17

So much despair, Vitology. You're either revelling in it or it is making you very sad. Sorry to see it. I'm an realistic optimist Grin Me sad, nah.

Falmer · 25/01/2018 23:12

Yes I do think we need to start being real about some issues, they're not going to disappear.
