Aibu to be pissed off that Women are being told not to bang on about female reproduction rights in regards to the Women’s March today? Monroe has a huge following, has been vocal in interviews, articles, TV, radio etc. They recently were featured in Woman’s Hour’s celebration of women.

Marilla, I find it telling that the only criticism 'Polly' was able to come up with re: that poster is that the woman carrying it is an 'asshole'. He/she doesn't say that the poster itself is wrong or untruthful, but rather scolds the messenger for not being considerate of men's feelings in this matter.

I had the same thought a few years back when I watched Kirsty Wark (?) interview Germaine Greer and essentially spend the whole time badgering Greer about the fact that she wouldn't say men could be women. I realised that not once did Wark actually say Greer's stance was wrong. Rather, she kept implying that Greer was being mean.

Even trans allies don't believe the 'transwomen are women' nonsense they spout - they just think women are being terribly, unfemininely rude when they won't (as the poster says) tell lies to soothe the male ego.

RogueBiscuit · 22/01/2018 04:29

And the leafleting, saying that women’s vaginas were ‘front holes’ and trans women had ‘vaginas’

This has made me feel sick. The Transwactivists have been manipulating words and language for far too long. I have always thought that calling them transwoman is a mistake as it implies they are a type of women when they are not. I refer to them as Tims and I refuse to call them her or she.

I really think that there needs to be much more discussion about the high rate of violent and sexual crimes committed by Tims. When I discuss this in real life I avoid talking about women's spaces and focus on the fact that I don't want a Tim showering next to my 5 year old after her swimming lesson. This is a massive safeguarding issue and I think if it was presented like that people would see it differently. Nobody gives a toss about women. Children are a different matter.

ThatWasNotLove · 22/01/2018 05:51

I would love to take that leaflet to the pub, or in the high street and ask how men think and feel about having a "strapless" rather than a "penis", that only transmen have a penis.

And hetero/bi women and gay/bi men. You're not having sex with your lover and his penis. You're having sex with your lover and his "strapless".

If you want to have sex with a penis, you have to have sex with a transman.

Men, biological men, no longer have a penis. Do they know?

Obviously this helps the TIM's in that it sounds more disposable to have a strapless (as in not a strap on) than a anatomical function marker of the male sex: a penis.

Datun · 22/01/2018 08:11

I have always refused to call myself a feminist, just never really identified with it, all the "sisters" stuff was not for me.
But you know what, fuck this shit,

Every time a woman says this, and so many women are, feminists everywhere look up, stop what they're doing momentarily, as they listen and nod to the sound of those scales falling.

This is PollyLaBruja?

Yet the comments that WOMEN get if they have a bit of facial hair...!

ChickenPaws · 22/01/2018 10:00

Tims are just pissed off because they know they can never be women so they seek to redefine us. They know the truth and can’t handle it. It’s a presentation of malignant narcissism.

They can maintain the rage as much as they want, but they’ll never be women.

I saw this video on Paris Lees twitter this morning. Not a single coherent argument about why the 'TERFs' are wrong. Just a load of

I just find it really saaaaad?
It's just like really upsetiiiing? to hear people saying those thiiiings?
I don't know why people have to be like so divisiiiive?
We should all be standing togetherrrr?

Paris Lees never appears on telly or radio with anyone except those who agree that they are totes all woman. They say it's because they won't engage in bigotry, but it's really because they know they will not be objectively able to argue their case.

Fekko · 22/01/2018 11:32

A pastiche of a female teen?

Fekko · 22/01/2018 11:34

If it’s anything like the teen girls who get on my bus there will be accusations of ‘she’s looking at me!!!’ ‘She’s listening to my conversation - nosey caaaaah’ ‘he soooo fancies me, right’ ‘and I said, she said, nevvaaaaah!’ ‘looooooooolllllllllll’ And much overuse of the word ‘like’ (not in context)

CAAKE · 22/01/2018 11:42

Ugh, that video!

Liiiike, clutching my pearls at the thought of, liiiike, old, unwoke bigot, liiike so-called feminists 🙄

Forkhandles22 · 22/01/2018 11:44

@lyra what experiences do transgender women have that are female experiences? Pinpoint for me what makes them women?

AdultHumanFemale · 22/01/2018 13:22

Lyra , you are missing the point of 'women as s class' as a crucial point in feminist analysis. You say you don't believe that women who can't have children, or don't have wombs are any 'less' women, well, neither is anyone else. You are narrowing the perspective down to the level of individuals. But the facts persist; women, as a class, are oppressed on the basis of their reproductive systems.

taratill · 22/01/2018 13:27

Now I have read everything.
Women have holes, transwomen have vaginas.

No words, seriously how can any self respecting woman support this shit?

Fekko · 22/01/2018 13:46

All I can think of is 'shitholes' (or dont we all have these now?)

CoolCarrie · 22/01/2018 13:46

It’s so interesting to note that female to male trans people just keep their heads down and get on with their lives, like most of us are doing. The difference in behaviour is so telling, don’t you agree, Lyra?

Fekko · 22/01/2018 13:47

They aren't bloody divas that's why. Or using male aggressive bullying and silencing techniques.

CoolCarrie · 22/01/2018 14:08

Indeed Fekko

newtlover · 22/01/2018 17:18

I remember that leaflet being linked to before, and in it's defence, someone pointed out that the language proposed is for HCPs to use WITH trans patients, not necessarily for general use. It's still bonkers of course but I suppose if I were a HCP caring for a trans person I might use that sort of language if it was going to facilitate care. Outside of that context they can fuck right off.

StoneColdDiva · 22/01/2018 17:21

Lyra

Have you stopped to think why Paris Lees chose that particular name for her new female self? It is no coincidence it sounds like "sleaze".

How many women would choose to be called sleaze?

You are so missing the point in your laudable desire to be inclusive and an ally. Paris Lees is not a woman, but a man with male socialisation, male approach to sex, male desires and a male turn of phrase ("I wonder if I have made a man spring a boner").

I wonder why you cannot see this.

Fekko · 22/01/2018 17:23

Like Denis Penis or Rick (?) Lemon (or Mrs Merton, Ali G, Honey G, Dane Edna, Donald Trump...)?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 22/01/2018 17:24

pointed out that the language proposed is for HCPs to use WITH trans patients

If the leaflet is the one I think it is then it's not for HCPs it's guidance on having a relationship with a trans identifying person.

Interesting how males get to keep "dick"...

Fekko · 22/01/2018 17:27

Says it all really...
