AIBU to think this chancer (with a horrible makeup) is just an entitled, freeloading brat?

VLogger asking for a free hotel room and gets a beautiful reply from hotel owner.

We were not all twats when we were 22. 18 yes but not 22.
Many of us had real jobs with responsibilities. I bet a fair few on here were parents by that age.

LadyBunnysWig · 21/01/2018 17:33

Not aimed at you Cherry but loads of people have defended her by saying he is a grown man attaching a young girl.... she is a grown fucking woman. She is not a child, not even close to being a child. She isn't vulnerable or defenceless. As they saying goes, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. Don't put your life, thoughts, ideas etc all over the internet and cry when you receive negative feedback.

Cherrycokewinning · 21/01/2018 17:36

I have referred to her as a woman throughout

Your POV is very common and that’s why it’s acceptable for men to bully and target younger women in particular. Happens in every sector and every company

LadyBunnysWig · 21/01/2018 17:36

That's why I said "not aimed at you"

Cherrycokewinning · 21/01/2018 17:37

Why mention my name then?

LadyBunnysWig · 21/01/2018 17:38

Because I wanted to say what I said and I knew if I wrote it without clarifying that I wasn't aiming it at you (as you clearly had described her as a woman) then you would assume that I had misread your post or was being wilfully ignorant and argumentative... seems you did anyway.

Cherrycokewinning · 21/01/2018 17:41

Well then it would’ve made sense just to say what you wanted to say without any reference to my post Hmm

LadyBunnysWig · 21/01/2018 17:43

Then you would have quoted me and stated that you had referred to her as a woman.

Cherrycokewinning · 21/01/2018 17:46

Erm no I wouldn’t do worry. I only read it because it was directed at me

wibblywobblywoo · 21/01/2018 17:47

(we were all twats at 22) Confused Confused

By all means speak for yourself Cherry but don't tar the rest of us.

Cherrycokewinning · 21/01/2018 17:48

Oh I bet you were wibbly! You just can’t look back at the evidence. You weren’t born with the maturity of a 36 year old Wink

CauliflowerBalti · 21/01/2018 17:53

Scientists this week suggested that humans should be classed as adolescents until they’re 24. This coincides with more or less the time human brains actually finish developing - the prefrontal cortex is the last bit to fully drop into place, and it controls cognitive reasoning, expression of personality, decision making and control of behaviour.

I’m not saying this is a defence. Just that cries that she is a ‘fully grown woman’ are incorrect. She isn’t, both medically in terms of brain development and also in terms of what social scientists deem an age of reasonable responsibility in millenials.

I’m old enough to be her mother - just about. Anyone 45+ could definitely be her mother. If we aren’t happy about this slower maturing of our offspring, we have to look to ourselves, I reckon - and factor in the brain development thing.

Yy to whoever said that any narrative about her age and responsibility plays into the hands of older men who like to use and abuse that age to suppress younger women.

CauliflowerBalti · 21/01/2018 17:58

I got married at 22. Thought I knew it all.

My sales director at the time used to make me sit on his knee. I didn’t know what to say. I do now.

I got married. We are now divorced.

Honestly, I think we all could do with looking back without our rose tinted glasses. I had a good job a mortgage and a husband. Was I sensible? Nope.

CircleofWillis · 21/01/2018 18:01

Apparently the hotel is claiming to have sent her a bill for increasing her profile.

LadyBunnysWig · 21/01/2018 18:18

@CircleofWillis I posted a picture of the invoice earlier. Crazy. Taking the joke a bit far IMO

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 21/01/2018 18:24

This is like the Zoella scandal. The women market themselves as helpless girls when they aren't.
The reality is if these women stood up and said stuff like "I should have written a better cover letter " or in Zoella's case "I should look at the details of my business deals more carefully and learn the bits that I don't understand" then they wouldn't get criticised so much. Elle could have earned good money as a spokeperson for why good cover letters are necessary.
By using the excuse that they are only in their 20s, silence (in Zoella's case) or blaming 30+ year olds, they are deflecting all blame. It must be mortifying to have your mistakes made public but they could have used these mistakes to their advantage and made money and become better educated.

Cherrycokewinning · 21/01/2018 18:29

It’s normal to become defensive when you’ve made a huge mistake and let’s be honest, there is no living to be made in cover lettersShock

I think her point (in an over dramatic immature way) was simply that he had no intention but to publically humiliate her (bullying) then lots of other people who she views as old enough to know better* pile on beating her down, saying awful insulting and humiliating things. Which is incredibly poor behaviour, clearly far worse than the behaviour she exhibited asking for a free room.

*us oldies all know that inner school bully never leaves most people, mind

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 21/01/2018 18:34

Lots of young reality stars who are popular and rich for being/appearing dumb - Jade Goody, Joey Essex...

Letsmaketheworldbetter · 21/01/2018 18:35

I’m totally with the girl on this one. She is a vlogger, that is her ‘business’. Bloggers/famous people always get freebies for promotions. Yes it annoys me that this is a thing. But it is a thing, which thousands of people do on a daily basis, why should she be scrutinised and downgraded like this when c list celebs do this for a living. The hotel manager is a twat and I hope he loses business. Even if 2 people who follow her use this hotel he would have made a profit

huha · 21/01/2018 18:45

Another one who couldn't watch due to her eye and the CONSTANT cutting where she's edited the video really badly.

LadyBunnysWig · 21/01/2018 18:48

@Letsmaketheworldbetter because she asked for a free 5 night stay** in a city she was hoping to visit for her own personal reasons.

She wasn't invited

Bloggers usually (if offered) are offered a sample of the product eg an overnight stay and dinner, not nearly a weeks worth of freebies.

She didn't give a crap about the hotel, this is apparent as she sent the same, generic email to a few different hotels (she admits this) and she wanted to use the hotel for free digs while she explored the city on a city break with her boyfriend.

If she really had of saw the hotel and wanted to collaborate, she would have done so when it was convenient for the hotel rather than making it a part of her romantic get away. It was a purely selfish request. She would have filmed a 10 min video and perhaps a short write up.

jaimelannistersgoldenhand · 21/01/2018 18:49

She asked for 4 nights not 1.

LadyBunnysWig · 21/01/2018 18:52

Also, I hate the fact that I'm now viewed as too old to understand social media by people who are 9 years younger than me. When did that happen?!

RoseWhiteTips · 21/01/2018 18:55

For a glorious minute there, I thought Cherry was the badly made up brat. Drat. Now sooo disappointed.

In other news, imagine being 22 and behaving like that. At that age I had a post graduate qualification.

Letsmaketheworldbetter · 21/01/2018 18:56

I thought it was 2 nights? Regardless, I hate the fact people get freebies for doing sweet FA. But it does happen, a lot of people do it. Companies do it. It’s advertisement. She asked for a stay at the hotel in exchange for advertising his hotel. If he didn’t like the request a simple no thank you will do. He’s just as bad as her and jumped on the bandwagon of companies replying to bad reviews, knowing they will get publicity for their business. In my eyes the hotel is just as bad as her.
