I was just wondering how long you and/or your DP/DH/DW spend each day commuting to and from work if you don't work from home.

Also, how do you travel to get there?

Me: 40-50 mins by train (occasionally bus).
DH: 25 mins by car.

Battleax · 17/01/2018 07:14

I forgot to say mine.

A lot of variation but I refuse to do site visits more than 2.5 hrs drive away.

powertripe · 17/01/2018 07:14

2 minutes (underground). Taking the lift down from my flat plus a few minutes walking T each end makes the door to door journey around 15 minutes.

pilates · 17/01/2018 07:14

Me approximately 30 minutes on a good day by car
Husband the same but can be more if working out of area

SoozC · 17/01/2018 07:14

HairsprayBabe · 17/01/2018 07:17

To work: 7min walk 15min train 4min walk 25 min bus 6 min walk

From work
6 min walk 45-60min bus 4 min walk 15min train 7min walk

Traffic is much worse in the evening

UnimaginativeUser · 17/01/2018 07:19

In term time around an hour each way by car. In school holidays it’s about 35 mins each way.

DP is about 40 mins in the morning (at ridiculous o’clock) then anywhere between an hour and 90 mins home.

Both by car as rail links are not helpful and buses would take about half a day!

megletthesecond · 17/01/2018 07:20

40 min walk each way.

Tstar27 · 17/01/2018 07:20

1hr and 25 minutes. Walk, train, and walk.

40 minutes was roughly my old time- it was good!

k2p2k2tog · 17/01/2018 07:22

60 minutes by car. Longer today as the weather is so bad.

I work from home so have no commute.

Lovelydovey · 17/01/2018 07:22

An hour door to door for by tram, train and walking.

FluffyWuffy100 · 17/01/2018 07:24

20 min walk
12 min train
5 min walk

feral · 17/01/2018 07:24

50min drive for me each way.
DH is 5 min car then 1 hour train each way.

GreenSeededGrape · 17/01/2018 07:25

An hour door to desk two days a week and that's zone sw 3 to zone w 4. Really fucking annoys me!

But I WFH 3 days so that's ok.

Dh is about 45 minutes.

MaisyPops · 17/01/2018 07:25

10 minutes by car.
In the summer I'm thinkinh of cycling.

Attie17 · 17/01/2018 07:25

To work: 15 min walk, then 30 min train (packed), followed by 10 min walk. The reverse coming home. I’d love if it were just a 40-min walk!

FluffyWuffy100 · 17/01/2018 07:26

There is a closer train station I can go to but then I have to change and I prefer to get a bit of fresh air and a walk (on the way to work certainly)

TroubleinDaFamily · 17/01/2018 07:26

Me:

Nine minutes by car, 5.2 miles. Less when the school at the top of the hill is out.

DH An hour and fifteen to Canary Dwarf.

Snowysky20009 · 17/01/2018 07:27

Currently off work (ill health), but anything from work from home up to 5 hours one way depending on where my meeting was and sometimes more if traffic. The same in reverse if back home that night and not staying over night.
Dp- 12-15 mins depending on traffic each way

Longdistance · 17/01/2018 07:27

Me: 20 minutes there, 30 back as that’s in rush hour traffic

Dh: 25 minutes to the outskirts of the city by car

Fruitcocktail6 · 17/01/2018 07:28

Used to be 1 hour train for me and 1.5 hours train for DP when we lived in London, but we've moved and now it's a 15 mins drive for me and a 20 min drive for DH Grin I get home at 4.30 and don't know what to do with my evenings.

Nicpem1982 · 17/01/2018 07:29

Me 30 mins by bus dh 25 mins by car

I used to commute 2hrs by public transport before dd

DrDreReturns · 17/01/2018 07:30

50 mins each way. 5 mins cycling to the train station. 10 mins waiting on the platform, 25 mins on the train then 10 mins walk to the office.
