Saw the matinee this afternoon and honestly think it was the si god greatest cultural experience of my entire life and now all I want to do is talk about it forever Grin

I have tickets for March and DH doesn't want to go and I think I asked that wrong friend to go with me and I'm experiencing friend regret!

drspouse · 29/01/2018 22:17

Immigrants- they get the job done.
I got the CD last birthday and have the book on order at the library.
I am a fangirl. I think. I may not quite be using that word right.

Like anything, some people can afford more than others. There is absolutely no need to pay that kind of money though. There is a range of prices and the theatre is well designed. I went in December and sat at the front row of the Grand Circle. I’ve just bought again in the new release in Grand Circle row E. The view from up there is awesome, though the leg room is poor.
Whoever asked about merchandise, the desk is tiny, the queue huge and selection a bit poor. I’d get whatever you want online.
It is such a clever show lyrically, and the production is equally clever. The young cast are phenomenally good. I had some reservations about Burr to start with, but he won me over. The only one I didn’t really like was Eliza, which was a shame. She just seemed a bit emotionally shallow and her voice was a bit lacking in warmth.

EllieMentry · 29/01/2018 22:19

Just booked tickets for September! £37.50 each in one of the high-up boxes. Has anyone sat in these? Theatremonkey says they're good value and only slightly restricted view. There's no way we could have afforded the really expensive seats.

cardibach · 29/01/2018 22:20

Xeneth I’m not trying to be confrontational, but what have you seen which was much better? And in what way?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 29/01/2018 22:26

I saw it a month ago and have already booked to go back.... it’s amazing. My DD’s (4 & 7) and I listen to the soundtrack constantly and they love it too Grin

Xeneth88 · 29/01/2018 22:29

Through my mum's job, most west end shows/ballets/operas etc and its not something I put in the top of my choices. My opinion of course.

KatyMac · 29/01/2018 22:35

DD is a big fan of Lin Manuel Miranda - she loves the three things of his she knows (in the Heights/Moana/Hamilton) & is damn near word perfect

We are going very very soon (I can't bloody wait either)

He is a poet, a wordsmith and an expert lyricist!

QuackPorridgeBacon · 29/01/2018 22:41

My sister absolutely loves it all. She has the songs on her phone and listens to them so much that she now knows all the words. She was excited to get me to listen and I have to say it is pretty amazing. I’d love to go see an actual show, I’ll need to try and take my sister one day. We used to live in London but now a plane ride away. Will have to see about taking her to one.

cardibach · 29/01/2018 22:42

Oh absolutely Xeneth - it’s a good job we aren’t all alike! Just wondering in what way things were better. I suppose what I mean is what didn’t you like in order to rank it below what else?

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 29/01/2018 22:46

I am aghast that I have the app, signed up for emails, and had no idea until this thread that they had released tickets beyond July. ARGH

Dancergirl · 29/01/2018 22:49

the person whose credit card is used MUST be one of the people attending, they dont make any exceptions

Oh no! I have booked 2 tickets using my credit card for dd to go with her older sister. I've opted for paperless tickets so presume you just print out at home. Is this going to be a problem?

bruffin · 29/01/2018 22:52

Yes Dancergirl

You cannot print them at home. You onlt het the tickets once you arrive at the theatre with id and physically put cc 8n the machine.

italiancortado · 29/01/2018 22:54

Is this going to be a problem?

Massively yes.

The cardholder HAS to go.

user1492964816 · 29/01/2018 22:57

The song ‘wait for it’ is on repeat in my car having seen it last week. Loved it

GinandGingerBeer · 29/01/2018 23:04

We saw it in the US when we were on holiday last year, DH booked tickets, I’d not heard anything about it!
It was a very strange experience watching it in LA. Everyone went MENTAL! Grin The audience were singing along, dancing in their seats, whooping and cheering along. I hardly dare speak in case they heckled me for being British Grin
What’s the audience reaction like over here?
I’ve seen plenty of west end shows but I’ve never experienced an audience like that!

prideofaberdeen · 29/01/2018 23:08

I've just bought tickets for December, and am going to spend the next 10 months paranoid that I'll lose my debit card!!!!

greatbigwho · 29/01/2018 23:22

Managed to get tickets to go again in December and I can't wait!

If you join the Hamilton West End ticket group on FB there's a thread with hundreds of seat photos on to show you what the view is like from various seats

EllieMentry · 29/01/2018 23:30

Thanks for the FB group info @greatbigwho. I've sent a request to join. Very excited about seeing this!

Dancergirl · 29/01/2018 23:37

Oh fuck Sad

If I phone Ticketmaster tomorrow, will they be able to do anything?

The only other thing I can do is see if I can buy an extra ticket for the same performance, even if it's not sitting together. Then I can go with both my dds.

greatbigwho · 29/01/2018 23:45

Dancergirl it very much seems to depend on the agent - I've heard of people being allowed to return the tickets and rebuy them in some cases

HanutaQueen · 30/01/2018 01:05

Dancergirl- just buy a ticket and go, it's so good! Alternatively you could buy another ticket and then when you get there, sell it to the returns queue and go and drink coffee round the corner but if you are there you might as well see it Grin

Just so you know- there's a day seat/returns queue. If you have a return on the day, go to box office with your ticket once you've collected it and then the manager will take you out to the returns queue where you can sell it for cash face value only to anyone in the queue. It means people who have a last minute dropout have a chance at recouping their costs. We sold a spare to an American girl who hadn't got to see it on broadway and was so excited!

Dancergirl · 30/01/2018 09:21

Thanks. I am just on hold to Ticketmaster now to see what they say.

If I buy an extra ticket, will I still have a problem with collecting all 3 tickets because it will be 2 different order numbers??

drspouse · 30/01/2018 09:25

Phew - my friend I invited is now excited about going! The right reaction!

RebeccaWithTheGoodHair · 30/01/2018 09:47

chimchar if you are there can you help?

What email address did your husband use? My sister and I have double booked and I've now got 4 tickets I don't need (and £400 less in my bank!).

The ticketmaster website is shite for anything useful and you can't resell the tickets on their sister site. I sent an email but it bounced back so I'm panicking rather!!
