I'm taking teen DS and his friend who are obsessed with this, not until July but it was the best present Santa brought last year Grin

I’ve got tickets for my birthday in June which I got last year sometime when they went on general release. Twice I got offered them at £200 a piece but the third time of trying got offered them at around £80. I haven’t listened to the soundtrack but might download it now based on this conversation. Loved LMM on Carpool Karaoke.

I am so envious. DD and I are desperate to go and I have tried very hard to get tickets, but no luck. We're resigned to waiting until about 2020.

But really glad that it's as good as expected :)

I recently got midweek tickets in Easter holidays. £37.50. Always worth a look as there are returns.

The ticket website is ridiculous; last time I looked it said there was “good availability” in July - no - there was one seat left, on two dates in July, for £100+. Ridiculous.

@AlexanderHamilton I cannot wait for Dear Evan Hansen to hit the West End. I've told DH that if it's not here by the end of 2018 then I'm going to New York to see it!

My DS and I saw a preview of Hamilton in November. It was completely incredible. We also met quite a few of the cast that afternoon who were simply delightful.

I got tickets in the presale almost exactly a year ago. I also have tickets for May which I bought in presale and just managed to get more for an April matinee as we're seeing Cursed Child over two nights. I had to take DS out of school for it in December and when I rang to let school know they just said "Oh wow- how on earth did you get tickets? Have a lovely time !"Grin

I'd recommend it to anyone. I wouldn't pay £200 for tickets though. You can get cheaper tickets with a lot of concerted Ticketmaster stalking though as they put returns immediately back online once they come in. You do have to search by individual dates which is a bit of a pain, but also use any browser but Chrome and add a 1 after the www in the url to see the seating plan and available tickets at all prices bands. Then repeat until you get tickets!

Anyone wanting to try and get tickets when the next wave goes on sale should sign up to the Hamilton mailing list which gave a priority booking period last time which is how we got (£47!) tickets

We saw it at the weekend.

It's jaw-dropping. I mean, hair on the back of your neck standing up, good.

And I reckon you should listen to it before you go. I got so much out of it.

The cast were brilliant.

And I've been listening to it on loop ever since. (And to be clear I am not (was not?) a rap fan, and more into opera than musicals.) I think that LMM is a bit of a genius.

I have been obsessed with Hamilton since a friend saw it in New York 18 months ago and told me I had to look it up. We got tickets right at the front of the circle for the first week in London and it was everything I dreamed of and more. I am also fortunate enough to be going twice more in coming months and honestly can't wait to be back in the room where it happens.

You really can't compare it to Mormon. I actually really liked that but come on, it was written by the team behind South Park! They are worlds apart in their style and messaging, Hamilton is on a totally different level.

We loved it! DD was always going to be overjoyed, she has been so desperate to see it for so long, but I was dubious.
I took a little while to get into it, the rap is very fast and I had to "get my ears attuned" so to speak, but I was soon caught up in the action and was crying at the emotional ending. It was fab Grin

We saw it on Friday. It was brilliant, but like a poster up thread, it took me until the second act to “tune” my ear.

I agree that it would be a great idea to pre-listen to the soundtrack. I spent the first 45 minutes confused as to why he was saying “I’m not going to weigh my shots”. I was wondering if there was some kind of pheasant hunting reference I didn’t get.

King George was the best bit for me. Loved him! Da da da da da, da da da nyah da da...

Saw it yesterday, absolutely extraordinary. I have to disagree about 'tuning the ear in'. I found the diction extremely clear throughout which meant the speed of the rap wasn't a problem at all. Really quick entrance procedure as well. Catch it if you can.

Tickets for August go on sale on Monday at noon.

I am really hoping to get tickets in tomorrow's release.

Does anyone know if it's better to try and book online tomorrow or call Ticketmaster?

Also, if you have already seen the show, what merchandise do they sell at the theatre please?

Report
choirmumoftwo · 28/01/2018 14:50

I got my tickets online in the last release with no problems, but I believe many people had difficulty using Google chrome.
Usual merchandise - hoodies, T-shirts, baseball caps, CD's etc. I think there was some jewellery as well. It shows you on the Hamilton West End website.
I'd advise using the time before the show to get merchandise as there's not a lot of space at the stall and it got crowded in the interval.
Enjoy - we absolutely did!

Thanks choir I'm hoping to get some tickets in time for dd's birthday on Wednesday! I was asking about the merchandise because dh works quite close to the theatre so I may ask him to pop in and buy her something.
