If you have a coffee machine at home how many cups do you drink a day?

I had a Tassimo for Christmas. My intake of coffee has considerably increased since. I'm not sure that's good.
Does the novelty wear off eventually?

I used to be a big tea drinker but liked an occasional latte. I have hardly drunk tea since Christmas day (although i have tea capsules as well).

Oh and I don't like cafetiere coffee and haven't got space for a grinder, bean to cup machine or whatever.

Lilyhatesjaz · 18/01/2018 19:02

I don't dare buy one of these machines as I am on 10_15 cups of instant a day with an occasional cafetiere cup. In my defence I do make it quite weak.

Sparklingbrook · 18/01/2018 19:04

Can you imagine the AIBU Little?

'AIBU to be really pleased with my Christmas present from my DH, a Tassimo coffee machine?'

Then everyone queuing up to say it's a pile of crap and I am an awful person, and it's all about the beans you idiot. There has to be beans! And taking the pods to the Recycling place is just not good enough. Grin

I have a good old fashioned coffee percolator after years of fancy machines and by far I love it the most and it only cost £15 Grin. I got for Christmas an aeropress for when we go camping.
Generally I drink two cups in the morning and maybe another late afternoon, more than that I'm a wreck.
I do however go to bed looking forward to my morning coffee.
I follow this company on Facebook and they make compostable pods for Nespresso. www.coffeeandkin.co.uk/product/escape-coffee-capsules-2/

My Mum and Dad had a cafetiere when I was a child. The coffee was horrible.

I think you melt them in a saucepan with a bar of Dairy Milk possibly. Grin

I've got 2 machines, I'll have between 1-3 a day.

ephemeralfairy · 18/01/2018 19:32

Apologies if this has been answered up thread but does anyone know if/how Nespresso capsules can be recycled?

Sparklingbrook · 18/01/2018 19:42

Not sure ephemeral but I did spot this thread today, so you could ask on there maybe.

Just had a read of the thread, OP is getting told off for all sorts. Hmm

I had one of these for Christmas and try not to use it everyday because of the expense!

Tesco have some of the pods on offer for £3 and I saw asda 3 for £10. I need to try the Baileys one but they are never included in the offers from what I’ve seen.

I also need a pod holder but looking for the type that’s like a draw that the machine can sit on to save the worktop space.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 18/01/2018 20:58

Ephemeral - if you order capsules from Nespresso you can recycling bags to your order, fill them up and they pick them up when they deliver your next order, or you can take them to the nearest Collect+ point for free return.

Chattymummyhere · 18/01/2018 21:16

We have a few ways of doing hot drinks here. Percolators/coffe machines etc. I use them zero. I don’t like hot drinks. Tassimo are crap though.

Taffeta · 18/01/2018 21:25

I have a stove top Bialetti and a Bodum milk frother, plus a Krups bean grinder. All small pieces of kit about £15 each. Then buy £4 bag of top notch beans and keep them in the fridge. Takes about 4 mins to make a cup. Nice relaxing process. Smile

Have maximum one a day.

Sparklingbrook · 18/01/2018 21:27

or have we already had 'crap'?

Hmm

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 18/01/2018 21:29

Thank you, just seen my local recycling centre collects the pods.
I have a couple a day and DS2 a hot choc.

Taffeta · 18/01/2018 21:29

I have a few friends that have Tassimo & other pod machines. It feels like a real treat to have one when I go there. Decadent?! Dunno why.

Redglitter · 18/01/2018 21:43

Sparkling Crap is a new one.

Have you thought of recycling your pods though 🤔

mummytothree87 · 18/01/2018 21:51

I have a gusto and haven't used it for months as me and DP are hooked on the Nescafe latte sachets just now with the flavoured syrup and I mean hooked, we buy 12 boxes of 8 sachets and drink at least a box a day. When we run out we move on to filter coffee which is good also but strong then onto the gusto we get the boxes.of 30 capsules for 7 quid out of b&m but can easily burn thru that in 2 days 😂 little bit addicted me thinks

shittyshitybangbang that is a great deal, take off the cost of the 6 packs of coffee that come with it and it makes the machine about £23 Shock will get one for work I think.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 20/01/2018 15:08

there are lots of holders and drawers for tassimo pods on e bay.

BigBaboonBum · 20/01/2018 15:15

I have a bean to cup machine and pre-pregnancy I would have 1 or 2 a day I guess. Although I’d make really strong lattes
