If you have a coffee machine at home how many cups do you drink a day?

I had a Tassimo for Christmas. My intake of coffee has considerably increased since. I'm not sure that's good.
Does the novelty wear off eventually?

I used to be a big tea drinker but liked an occasional latte. I have hardly drunk tea since Christmas day (although i have tea capsules as well).

I have so far only had the Costa Lattes, are the L'Or ones any different?

4 sometimes 5 at the weekend, 2 in the morning before work.

bonzo77 · 16/01/2018 19:00

De longhi bean to cup machine here. Usually just one a day. Might have a second if planning a late night. We couldn’t bring ourselves to get a machine that takes pods as the pods are expensive and then go to land fill or need to be recycled. The machine was probably more expensive than a pod-taking one, but I hope that it evens out over the life of the machine.

Ylvamoon · 16/01/2018 19:01

I got rid of mine... I turned into a real coffee addict ☕☕☕☕☕☕☕ 💋!
At least with the caffetiere there is some work involved!

and we have one of these industry sized machines at work, it's all free, so no need to go into rehab!

Sparklingbrook · 16/01/2018 19:03

Other kitchen gadgets we have tried over the years include an ice cream maker, soda stream, and a slow cooker. They are all now shoved in the back of the cupboard, the coffee machine has outlasted them already in terms of usage. Grin

Had mine 3 years, I drink 1 to 2 cups a day.
But only because if I drink more I'm wide awake all night or get headaches.

My everyday drink kenco Americano EXlarge/Grande and heat the milk in the microwave.

Sometimes when I get in from work I really want one, but for reasons above, just can't Sad

Aragog · 16/01/2018 19:07

We have a Nespresso machine and have had for about 2-3 years or so.

I don't drink coffee much - so about one a month for me.
Teen dd has a coffee every morning - travel mug on way to school.
DH doesn't really drink coffee at home during the week - so maybe 2 a day at a weekend, similar if at home on a weekday.

We recycle the pods via the Nespresso recycling scheme.

Plainlycrackers · 16/01/2018 19:08

I got one... novelty wore off and I now drink hardly any... ever... but DH is s different matter... he is a Tassi addict🙄. So it could go either way!

stressedoutfred · 16/01/2018 19:12

One a day! Got mine for Christmas this year, cheapest place I’ve found for pods is Asda, 3 packs for £10. We haven’t tried Costco yet

JaneEyre70 · 16/01/2018 19:13

I've got a Dolce Gusto and love having an espresso in a hot mug of soya or almond milk after my morning dog walk....... but can only have 1 a day else I get horrendous palpitations!! I've had my machine about 3 years and use it every day.

Rejoiner · 16/01/2018 19:13

We had a tassimo at my previous work place as there was no kitchen on our floor, I prefer decaff and really enjoyed the Cafe Hag capsules. But it was a faff especially as the majority of the team were men who couldn't fathom that it needed cleaning and filling with water regularly.

At home I have a Nespresso and make 1 latte to take to work each day, and I drink a couple at the weekend depending on how much I m around. We had the frothy milk maker but I prefer to warm my milk in the microwave and tend to drink Americano style coffee out of choice. We too have had many kitchen gadget over the years, this along with the toaster re that only ones all the family use on a weekly basis.

If I worked from home I would drink much more as I tend to average a cup an hour between 8 and 2 daily, then switch to tea. Having said that I love a drip coffee and I'd me more likely to have that on the go.

CocaineAndCaviar · 16/01/2018 19:16

Had various dolce gusto machines for the last 5ish years, I'd say it gets used 10-15ish times a day (between 2 of us!). Wish they did a better variety of pods though, Tassimo seem to have a lot more to choose from.

derektheladyhamster · 16/01/2018 19:22

I have a bean to coffee machine. I probably drink 4/5 mugs a day!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 16/01/2018 19:46

zzzz what exactly is that.... I think I need one in my life, is it for tassimo discs?

PavoReal · 16/01/2018 19:47

Mine went with my ex nearly 5 years ago and I never replaced it. Have a cafetière for weekends and mainline tea the rest of the time.

TowerRavenSeven · 16/01/2018 19:49

Keriug here, two or three a day - but I almost never buy coffee shop coffee any more - mine is so much better!

Crumbs1 · 16/01/2018 19:49

We have nespresso but I rarely drink coffee from it. I drink tea at home but have the odd coffee when out and about. My husband will maybe have one a day if working at home. It’s for visitors mainly,

HundredMilesAnHour · 16/01/2018 19:55

I dislike Tassimo so getting one of those at home would reduce my caffeine intake to zero. Wink

I have a Gaggia bean-to-cup machine. I usually have a (single) espresso before leaving for work (Mon-Fri) as I start early and/or go to the gym first so need the caffeine to get me moving. On the days when I'm working from home or it's the weekend, I make myself a(double shot) skinny latte/flat white. Occasionally I allow myself 2 of them or I switch to a long black....but no more than 2 cups total. I also do voluntary work on a Sun that means a 50 mile drive and an early start so I usually take a small "travel coffee" with me. That's my only coffee of the day when I'm volunteering (I can't face instant).

C4rollinandventing · 16/01/2018 20:03

I have a Gaggia TS and have perfected the art of the perfect cappuccino. I allow myself one cappuccino in the morning and then drink about eight mugs of double shot americano during the day. I switch to tea at 3:30pm.
Without the caffeine I would be in a coma.

Sparklingbrook · 16/01/2018 20:04

Can't be doing with beans. Tassimo suits me just fine.

BakedBeans47 · 16/01/2018 20:14

The bean to cup machine is zero effort. Pour a bag of beans in the top and that’s it. Less faff than a tassimo (which admittedly isn’t particularly faffy!)

IthinkImislaid10years · 16/01/2018 20:15

I've had a pod machine on the go for 4+ years - not one machine, has been replaced. Novelty hasn't worn off. Drink about 3 a day. Best kitchen appliance ever.

Tassimo pods are expensive though. I have a machine that uses Lavazza pods but real milk. Spend about £20 a month.

Sparklingbrook · 16/01/2018 20:19

The Tassimo was a Christmas gift. I like that I can do tea and hot chocolate as well as loads of different coffees, so it's ideal for my requirements.

But I know others can be quite picky about proper coffee and what not.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 16/01/2018 20:21

De Longho bean to cup. Best purchase ever. One, possibly two, small cups of really good coffee a day. A lot less than when I drank instant and had a Starbucks habit. In fact I cannot countenance Starbucks Costa and the like anymore, in comparison they are so synthetic tasting. Cost per use it’s probably saved me GBPs vs the coffee chains.

MammaTJ · 16/01/2018 20:24

I have a dolche gusto and use it for a mocha when I get the craving for one. DD loves to make hot chocolate in it for her.
