How can this man be getting away with this. What a beautiful baby and her life is now over because of that monster!.
I've been in tears this morning reading it. In fact I couldn't finish reading it. What is the system coming to???

naught Where did I say these things should be ignored? Please don't try to make out that I don't think these situations need to be addressed or made a deal of.

However, I am not arguing with a stranger over the internet about a different in opinion .

Bossbaby12 · 15/01/2018 17:34

Thank you Sophie.

Just to make it clear everyone, I didn't start the thread to exploit the devastating crime committed here or for people to argue over it. It was simply to show my upset for this little girl. Whether her mum knew or not, we don't know so we can't judge her on that. Any kind of abuse is horrific and life changing. I was taken into care for the majority of my childhood because of abuse, I was lucky because I got rescued, my heart breaks that little Poppi didn't. I am disgusted that if the father did this, he will won't be brought to justice.

I wonder why the mother isn't allowed to be identified. is it to protect siblings?

pameladoove · 15/01/2018 17:59

Thanks v much. Needasock and Queen Aravis,

I guess there's enough evidence that they think this verdict wouldn't lead to a libel case.

It’s disgusting. But I should imagine the so-called father would be safe in solitary confinement than he will be on the street. Someone will make sure he gets justice.

LineysRunt · 15/01/2018 18:20

I'm so sorry, OP, Donny, Ophelia. Flowers

Poppi’s mother was incredibly vulnerable. It’s all published in the Serious Case Review. She was taken into Care as a result of sexual exploitation - groomed by a family that Poppi’s father had been sexually involved with. She’d had 4 children taken into care due to her capacity to parent them and then had the twins. But there was no actual evidence before the horrific event that Poppi was being abused. Professionals were criticised because they worked in area with so many complex families and so many needs, that they normalised things which should have been investigated further and offered more support. However working in a similar area myself it feels almost impossible - so many families with horrific backgrounds and complex needs - it just exceeds capacity. I don’t find this very easy to deal with mentally as I was abused myself as a child and it’s left some pretty hefty scars.

HermioneWeasley · 15/01/2018 18:44

I’ve just read tha Poppi’s DNA was on her father’s penis. How can that not be beyond reasonable doubt of sexual assault? Why isn’t he being prosecuted for that?

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 15/01/2018 18:46

Thank you lineys Smile

That poor woman too. And her surviving children. I hope they’re all getting support/involvement to keep them safe from future harm/bad relationships as a result of their experiences.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 15/01/2018 18:47

Shock so he was arrested? And processed? Immediately after her death? So there was immediate suspicion of him from the police. How can he not have been charged? I just don’t understand this one.

Tedster77 · 15/01/2018 18:48

Hermione - I seem to recall he said it would be on his hands after changing her nappy then got on him when he went to the toilet. They can’t prove that wasn’t the case o guess as so much evidence was messed up.

I’ve just seen his sister on the news proclaiming his innocence Angry.

To those of you whining because it's a Daily Fail link: that doesn't change the fact that the whole situation is abysmal.

Butterymuffin · 15/01/2018 18:54

I still don't agree with the death penalty but there are cases that sorely test that. Cunt is too good a word for him.

fallenblossom · 15/01/2018 19:01

This case has tormented me... I've cried many tears over this beautiful baby girl. The picture of her in her little red car is one i'll never forget.

I have no sense of reason when it comes to this case, and would celebrate waking up to hear he had been dealt with in a way fitting to his crime.

I hate having to live in this world sometimes.

Belle1616 · 15/01/2018 19:08

This makes me feel ill and even worse the father is not being prosecuted for this.

The BBC piece says that the police officers who fucked it all up have just merrily retired.

"Lead detective on the inquiry, Det Insp Amanda Sadler, was subjected to a disciplinary hearing last year where gross incompetency was proven and she was demoted in rank.
She has since retired along with her boss, former Det Ch Insp Mike Forrester. No further action was taken against either.
In 2015, the Independent Police Complaints Commission concluded both Mrs Sadler and Mr Forrester had cases to answer for gross misconduct."

From BBC.

There is never any accountability.

UpABitLate · 15/01/2018 19:11

The first coroner as well:

"The first, in 2014 with a different coroner, lasted less than eight minutes and concluded the cause of her death was "unascertained"."

Is he having to answer any difficult questions? I bet is not.

Bambamber · 15/01/2018 19:14

Reading that has made me literally feel sick to my stomach. I could never understand how anyone could do anything so vile

raisedbyguineapigs · 15/01/2018 19:17

It's outrageous that there is no evidence to charge him with this. He is just walking free, free to be able to do this to someone else. The reason there is not enough evidence for a prosecution is because of police incompetence. They failed to collect evidence from the crime scene. How they could investigate the case of a dead baby and not go over that place with a fine toothcomb, especially with the family history and the injuries that child sustained is beyond me. Shame on them. I hope they never sleep at night again.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 15/01/2018 19:18

bossbaby where you said you had no idea why this post had been shared, the implication if that was yes it happened but we should no longer talk about it and ignore it. Something you've backed up by going I'm not going to argue with a stranger over the internet.

I'm not arguing in fact no one is, we're discussing a case. However horrific one that has implications for safeguarding and society. If you don't want to discuss it. That's great don't. However I believe it's others have got the freedom
to many other who do want to learn and educate others about the flaws in the system.

If you don't want to read them don't, if you don't want to learn why for instance he can't be charged with more something that maybe we can lobby those in power to change. That's up to you.

Many however want to play a small part in getting a more equal justice system and create a society where we learn from horrific events. We can't do that unless we discuss the failings and outcomes of those events.

QueenAravisOfArchenland · 15/01/2018 19:29

I’ve just read tha Poppi’s DNA was on her father’s penis. How can that not be beyond reasonable doubt of sexual assault?

Your DNA can be found at a crime scene you've never visited if you do something as simple as shake hands with someone who goes on to commit a crime. DNA cross-contamination is incredibly easy, and as Poppi's father it's quite natural for him to have her DNA all over him (and indeed vice versa).

Had they found semen or DNA from the father in Poppi's anus or indeed semen on her cot sheet, that would have been fairly conclusive. But they didn't.
