... to feel disgusted at fox-chasing toff-twits!

On my way to a local town for lunch today, we had to slow down and stop as a horse came galloping up towards us in the middle of the road. On his back sat a dandified twit who was looking for his hounds. In the nearby field some 100 (I kid you not) other starched twits sat on brainwashed horses with hungry hounds running amok. Traffic swayed and stopped as these twits had clearly lost the little sense they had and were dispersing all over the highway, horses looking dazed at being led among cars at great speed on slippery tarmac. Hounds confusedly sniffing all over the road and verges. How much had these twit-toffs drunk? It was not yet noon!

My friends in our car tried to calm me down saying it must be a drag when all of a sudden a poor defenseless fox jumped on the dry-stone wall looking wild-eyed as it tried to determine whether he was safer making a run for it across a busy road or turn back into a field of crazed, uncontrolled hounds and drunken (British?) twits. The fox froze and the driver of my car sped on as I screamed with panic for the predictable fate of the fox.

Why the f*ck is a supposedly civilized country allowing this kind of savagery to continue?

As I said, anybody who willingly injures a hound or a horse is no better than the people who vie them on towards a terrified fox. Thankfully there are thousands of sabs out there who are animal activists for all the animals involved.
But we could discuss the hooliganism if you like? Such as the riders who boot sabs in the face as they gleefully ride past? Or the riders who attack individual sabs en masse simply because they have a camera?

If a hunt has nothing to hide, why are they worried about cameras?

Marymaymay · 13/01/2018 22:34

@frillyhorseyknickers

So Hunt sabs are ‘hooligans spoiling for a fight’ if they lure an animal to their death.

What does that make hunters?

Growingboys · 13/01/2018 22:34

Uok Hun?

counterpoint · 13/01/2018 22:35

Filleyhorseynickers - not interested in your unsubstantiated historical pro-fox-tearing propaganda anecdotes that have nothing to do with the reality that ensued today.

Anyone cheering at the demise of an animal is evil and your lies to make out there are pro animal activists that encourage animal cruelty is ridiculous to the point it places you firmly in the substrata of these twits I had the misfortune to witness today.

Did anyone see this about the hounds that entered Celia Hammond's cat sanctuary? If this was trailhunting, what kind of idiot would lay a trial anywhere near a well known cat sanctuary?

www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/celia-hammond-animal-trust-hunt-hounds-sussex-police_uk_5a5a1b89e4b0fcbc3a107b55

Many hunts seem to think they have the right to ride wherever they wish, regardless of the wishes of other people, including those who own the property. The arrogance is breathtaking, whatever one thinks of foxhunting. I've also heard some unpleasant stories about the treatment of hounds too.

mustbemad17 · 13/01/2018 22:39

Louise they are still missing 7 cats but because many are semi feral they can't even ask volunteers to look for them in case they get scared off again 😔 I hope that the police take the report seriously, but time will tell

LouiseBrooks · 13/01/2018 22:39

Crosswise, sorry I skipped a page when reading.

MrMeSeeks · 13/01/2018 22:41

Lady as of 7.30pm today there are seven cats still missing. I believe the CHAT have lodged a complaint about the out of control hounds...will be interesting to see the outcome.
That is disgraceful.
I have no respectful for people who think chasing an animal to exhaustion is 'sport'.
No idea how ripping an animal to pieces is fun, it's sickening.

juddyrockingcloggs · 13/01/2018 22:42

So Frilly, what does that make your hunting friends then? Cunts is what.

mustbemad17 · 13/01/2018 22:42

There's been so many reports of out of control hounds on 'drag' hunts it's unreal. And as many of the sab videos show, the riders sit idly on their horses & do fuck all.
I can't remember which sab group it was but a video was posted of a hunt on a road trying to barricade the sab cars in. The complete disregard for the horses on the part of the riders was absolutely disgusting. I guess that goes with the territory tho

LouiseBrooks · 13/01/2018 22:42

Cross posted. Flipping auto correct.

MrMeSeeks · 13/01/2018 22:44

mustbemad17 is there anything anyone can to to help find the missing cats?

Woolfrai · 13/01/2018 22:45

OP, was quite north on the A46? Maybe near the A18? There's a walk I go near there and have been told previously to actively avoid the whole of the area when hunts are on because of how out of control they are. Sad

I absolutely despise stand hunting.

SmashingCucurbita · 13/01/2018 22:45

If it was a pack of staffy’s Imagine the uproar. They’d be shot by police marksman.

mustbemad17 · 13/01/2018 22:46

The initial post from the CHAT FB page. It took the hunt an hour to round up their hounds with help from the police.

Had that been me with a pack of dogs i'd have been arrested on the spot & the dogs potentially bloody shot for being out of control

UnicornRainbowColours · 13/01/2018 22:47

The Hunt is a countryside tradition, keeping fox populations down. But it’s not very nice and personally I don’t like it. But we have allowed the hunt on our farm and up to our woods.

It’s very rare they actually catch anything. But it’s not very pleasant to think of animals being treated like that. It’s illegal to hunt With a pack of dogs.

But it’s not illegal to go out riding with a few dogs that’s how they get away with it. I think most hunt masters shoot the fox first of caught (humane) then let the dogs at it.

mustbemad17 · 13/01/2018 22:48

Mr i only know what i get from their FB page but they have asked that volunteers don't turn up. The cats are semi feral living in a sanctuary setting & it takes time to build their trust...staff are worried any more disturbances will scare the cats off again

Artesia · 13/01/2018 22:51

How do you feel about fishing as a sport OP? Or is that ok cos it's not the remit of "toffs" and "dandified twits"?

UrsulaPandress · 13/01/2018 22:53

Aw come on. Fish ain't fluffy.

Marymaymay · 13/01/2018 22:55

artesia

When did the OP say fishing was ok?

This line of arguing is shit. If you agree with hunting, just say so. Don’t try and justify it by saying that other forms of animal abuse happen or trying to point out contradictions in others beliefs.

If you don’t agree that killing animals for sport is barbaric, just say it.

Middleoftheroad · 13/01/2018 22:55

This barbaric 'tradition' is pathetic and cowardly.
There is no justification for those who take part, those who support it and the posters who find it amusing.

mustbemad17 · 13/01/2018 22:59

I struggle to understand how it's even classed as entertainment. I once walked a dog who got hold of a fox & it was absolutely fucking soul destroying

counterpoint · 13/01/2018 22:59

How do you feel about fishing as a sport OP? Or is that ok cos it's not the remit of "toffs" and "dandified twits"?

Why answer your own question? Are you interested in knowing from me or happy to make up your own prejudices?

For what it's worth, even if it has NOTHING to do with tearing a mammal to pieces for joy - I completely disagree with fishing for sport. I also disagree with fishing in the sea as it is indiscriminate. However, if there are poor tribes that depend on fishing for food for themselves, then it's fine for now till we come up with a kinder solution.

OP posts:
Maelstrop · 13/01/2018 23:00

It's more commonly called 'breaking'. There is a 'useful' propaganda manual that likens brainwashing to the tactics use din breaking horses.

Dear me. I got my horse part-backed. I did join up with him. He follows me round in the field/arena like a dog. He sulks if I talk to other horses. I don’t think I brainwashed him by doing join up. Horse are herd animals, they like to be with their herd or their humans. I don’t think mine has the brain to be brainwashed, frankly.

LouiseBrooks · 13/01/2018 23:00

Some posters here seem to find the whole thing amusing but I suppose we can't expect better from people who enjoy seeing small animals ripped apart.

The vast majority of people in the UK see this "sport" for what it is, fortunately.
