AIBU to be fuming at this CF and my lack of rights?! (Parking thread)

OK so I come home from taking the kids to school and when I arrive home someone is parked in my space. Not just anyone but the little black car that had 3 students in it I had seen driving in on my way out. Now normally student park in our residents only visitors bay which is annoying enough but this time they have parked in my privately owned and numbered parking space. So I cannot use it!

The council won’t do anything the police won’t do anything and even the college won’t do anything!

I honestly can’t believe the lack of rights people have on their own properties! This car is going to be in my space for at least 6 hours!

Why can’t there be some new system where people can call and report vehicles to be towed from their property at a smallish fee and then the owners of said cars have to pay the remaining fee to retrieve their cars?

I'd just either not answer the door or conspicuously feck off out.... ALL DAY Grin

UnsuspectedItem · 10/01/2018 10:42

I agree with PP that mimic their attitude when they talk to you. If they are genuinely apologetic, let it go. If they are rude, give them a telling off.

PositivelyPERF · 10/01/2018 10:43

They'll probably end up driving over that grass area, to get out. Make sure you have their number plate details, in case they cause damage.

jessebuni · 10/01/2018 10:43

They’ve spoken to a bunch of my neighbours about it but haven’t yet knocked the door. The lad has been on the phone about three times complaining about it to presumably parents or friends. I really hope a parent turns up and knocks on my door so that I can point out that he never actually tried knocking my door and asking me to move out of the way.

Perfect response OP!

StealthNinjaMum · 10/01/2018 10:46

He's probably embarrassed, let's hope he's learnt his lesson. But I agree that how you handle it should depend on how apologetic he is.

cjt110 · 10/01/2018 10:46

CF doesnt know you're watching... All it takes it to knock the door. I mean, you could be watching telly, or Mumsnetting and have no idea....!

CF looks like a sulker.... Called Tom.

ATeardropExplodes · 10/01/2018 10:46

I'd go down with a glass of wine in my hand and say 'what up fellas?' and then listen whilst supping slowly on the wine. And then say 'Gosh if you'd only said something before I had the wine, I could have moved it for you. Never mind. See you tomorrow.'

RubbishRobotFromTheDawnOfTime · 10/01/2018 10:47

A live stand-off! I like it.

Shadow666 · 10/01/2018 10:47

Oh, gosh. Im totally placemarking.

A Mexican standoff. How exciting!

PositivelyPERF · 10/01/2018 10:47

They may complain to the police, as you can't block a car in, but I wouldn't worry about it. The most the police would do is ask you to move and the CFP will be told not to do it again.

Loving the suggestion of a pre 11am wine supping showdown.

PeppaPigTastesLikeBacon · 10/01/2018 10:48

I would check that you yourself are not doing anything illegal by blocking them in (I know you can block someone’s drive if they are on it but don’t know where you stand with parking spaces).
You never know how quickly parking people/police will move in these situations.
Wouldn’t want this to come back on you and you get the parking fine etc for them causing the problem in the first place

swingofthings · 10/01/2018 10:48

FGS just get out and talk to them and explain why you ended up blocking them and expect they won't do it again to you or any or you neighbours.

At the moment, you are acting as juvenile as they are seemingly enjoying the whole drama.

HotelEuphoria · 10/01/2018 10:48

I would leave your car there until the school run tomorrow.

jessebuni · 10/01/2018 10:49

They’ve now walked off and given up! I assume in hopes that we move later. Although where we are supposed to move to when they are in our space I don’t know. But they’ve now given up and gone. I can’t elieve not one of the three people out there had the balls to knock on my door and just say look I’m really sorry can you move please.

Of course it could be squash and just pretend it is wine :)

cjt110 · 10/01/2018 10:50

Leave a note on their windscreen "I saw you skulking about because you were blocked in. Grow a pair and knock on my door to apologise and I might move my car. Signed Carparking Space Owner, No 8"

Kittypillar · 10/01/2018 10:51

placemarks and eagerly waits for updates Brew Halo

swingofthings

I had this done to me. I AM disabled. I live on a cul-de-sac with bungalows only rented to disabled people. People are twats.

jessebuni · 10/01/2018 10:55

Who knows how long until they come back. I can’t believe they didn’t just knock on the door. Surely the longer they leave it the worse it is?

OP posts:
Idontdowindows · 10/01/2018 10:57

They're probably going to complain to their mates or make a fool of themselves at the police station :D

This is gold.

Ellendegeneres · 10/01/2018 10:58

This a hilarious! So they we’re outside, could have knocked- presumably since the driver can drive and use his mobile he’s capable of knocking on a door- and asked for you to move car... but instead they’ve whined and bitched to anyone else who’ll listen and then fucked off!!
Op please tell us you’re not planning on going out today, this is so funny

Ellendegeneres · 10/01/2018 10:59

Were outside not we’re!
