AIBU to be fuming at this CF and my lack of rights?! (Parking thread)

OK so I come home from taking the kids to school and when I arrive home someone is parked in my space. Not just anyone but the little black car that had 3 students in it I had seen driving in on my way out. Now normally student park in our residents only visitors bay which is annoying enough but this time they have parked in my privately owned and numbered parking space. So I cannot use it!

The council won’t do anything the police won’t do anything and even the college won’t do anything!

I honestly can’t believe the lack of rights people have on their own properties! This car is going to be in my space for at least 6 hours!

Why can’t there be some new system where people can call and report vehicles to be towed from their property at a smallish fee and then the owners of said cars have to pay the remaining fee to retrieve their cars?

Wasn't today the day you were going to go out training for that 20 mile hike OP?

Blackteadrinker77 · 10/01/2018 10:15

Another vote for a penguin.

This is not worth the stress.

Put it in writing to the college, email is fine.

Google the Principal's details.

Your students have [details including registration and photo if necessary.]

Please inform me of the action you intend to take to resolve this matter by 12pm today.
Jesse.

One thought, are they resident in your block of flats?

If not, get a lockable bollard, this sort of thing.

Not a penguin but £20 next day delivery. Never have this problem again

Fitzsimmons · 10/01/2018 10:18

Well done for blocking them in!

ObscuredbyFog · 10/01/2018 10:18

Well done for blocking them in! Hadn't seen that when I posted.

StopTheRoundabout · 10/01/2018 10:18

Good work OP. They might be back at lunchtime

agedknees · 10/01/2018 10:19

And when they ask you to move your car, request a days parking fee. I would say the going rate is £50.

He he he (evil cackle).

jessebuni · 10/01/2018 10:19

We rent our property so can’t install a post without prior permission but definitely worth me asking them for future. I just can’t believe they had the guts to park in someone else’s clearly private property!

I'd make yourself a nuisance to the college so it's easier to sort the parking than it is to deal with you ringing hourly.

jessebuni · 10/01/2018 10:21

I’ve sent a message with photos including one of the signs to the Facebook account in hopes they take pity on me and post about it.

Well played OP.

StealthNinjaMum · 10/01/2018 10:22

Well done op. two diagrams in just two pages, this has the makings of a good parking thread.

I hope you sort those buggers out.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/01/2018 10:22

Two diagrams, a photograph, a blocked-in CF - my Cup Runneth Over!

And it is such a pity tat you were so stressed when you couldn't get anyone to take action about it that you drank that entire bottle of grappa left over from Christmas, and won't be able to get behind the wheel again for some hours.

Karma - what a bitch!

Royalcoronation · 10/01/2018 10:22

I like the dog shit under the handle idea Wink

DearShirt · 10/01/2018 10:24

I'm a bit shocked at the posters encouraging criminal damage. However, you did well OP. What will you do when they come back?

swingofthings · 10/01/2018 10:25

Ok, very annoying, and if I were you. I'd be having a moan too BUT...

Maybe they have mock exams and were desperate and when they saw you going, assumed you'd be gone for work for the day and you wouldn't notice.

When they do come and knock on your door, go with their attitude. If they apologise, explain the above and say they will definitely not do it again, let it go. It's not the end of the world (and I think emailing the school is already taking a step too far). If they are being rude about it though and don't think they should apologise, go for it and let it all out!!

2cats2many · 10/01/2018 10:25

I've blocked someone in before when they've done stuff like this. When they read the note and called to ask me to move the car I was unfortunately unable to come for an hour meaning they had to wait around for me.

They haven't parked there again.

ArcheryAnnie · 10/01/2018 10:25

Well done, OP!

jessebuni · 10/01/2018 10:26

Well well well car owner is outside talking to a neighbour right now asking why someone blocked him in. Neighbour is telling them off for me. I’m pretending not to be in or possibly very tired from a night shift and sleeping.

OP posts:
mamas12 · 10/01/2018 10:26

I hope you've left a phone number on the note for them to phone to move your
Make sure it's the local police number and let them know so they could come and read them the riot act

cjt110 · 10/01/2018 10:28

This is all being resolved rather too quickly....

mamas12 · 10/01/2018 10:28

Hopefully your neighbour won't tell them it's you and leave them to it
I think it's up to you how long you'll be

PositivelyPERF · 10/01/2018 10:29

And what if the OP is ill or disabled Swing, or has a disabled relative or small children? Where's she supposed to park? Stop making excuses for shitty behaviour.
