To think you probably can't get pregnant this way

Hi all, very long time lurker, first time poster because something is really playing on my mind.

Normally very very careful with contraception, but I'm worried because of what happened a week ago.

Me and DP were messing around and the long and short of it is he "pleasured me digitally" (snort) with "spermy fingers". God sorry for the TMI.

I checked the app i use to track my period and that was apparently in my fertile window.

Can you put my mind at rest - its unlikely for that to cause pregnancy, right? But how unlikely? Like super unlikely or just unlikely?

Didn't know whether to laugh or barf at that

Maireadplastic · 10/01/2018 17:39

This is how we conceived our first....this, with a mixture of oral sex, kissing each other then more oral sex.... All very messy (but fantastic) with no actual penetration.

Flomper · 10/01/2018 17:39

Surely that's a reach in front not a reach around? I thought a reach around was something different entirely.

Advicewouldbelovelyta · 10/01/2018 17:48

Flomper, I'm sure a reach around is something different lol

And i agree that some people are just that fertile, my daughter was 1 quicky before work lol

TheGirlWithAllTheFeathers · 10/01/2018 17:51

As they say in Jurassic Park, 'nature will find a way'. I would say it's unlikely but not impossible. The further in and the more....lubricated.....his fingers were, the higher the odds. I guess this is what's classed as 'heavy petting' and yes, you can get preggers with HP.

GingerbreadMa · 10/01/2018 17:52

What else does reach-around mean?

Iminthetiredmumsclub · 10/01/2018 17:59

I thought I read once that sperm dies when it meets oxygen??? Although I’m 3 kids in and only a year apart with the little two so not sure I’m a reliable info source 😂😂

Shakey15000 · 10/01/2018 17:59

Nothing to add except that this has given me a bit of a giggle today which was sorely needed ( sorry blobby)

Good luck op!

Shakey15000 · 10/01/2018 18:00

NOT "blobby" I meant "globby" !!

sincerely hopes Mr Blobby wasn't involved Grin

PaddingtonBearHardStare · 10/01/2018 18:03

@Iminthetiredmumsclub nope cos DH will be doing it in a cup at Fertility Clinic soon Wink

treacletoffee23 · 10/01/2018 18:08

Sperm defo wont die on contact with air...Twins via IVF

thechickenwhisperer · 10/01/2018 18:09

Yes you can! Happened to me at age 37. Whilst breastfeeding no less. How many urban myths can you blow out of the water in one go?!

TimeforCupcakes · 10/01/2018 18:10

Definitely not impossible, a friend of mine got pregnant that way x

thechickenwhisperer · 10/01/2018 18:11

Obviously I wasn't breastfeeding at that precise moment

Turquoise123 · 10/01/2018 18:14

errr can I suggest that you ask e.g Marie Stoppes clinic who can give an informed view ?

It's totally possible that I might win the lottery but .....

purplebunny2012 · 10/01/2018 18:14

Yes, of course it's possible

Smudge100 · 10/01/2018 18:15

This is the so called virgin birth. Technically possible but very unlikely. I wouldn’t worry until you have to.

VeganIan · 10/01/2018 18:17

I don't know whats made me laugh more - frigging shock, Gingerbread or imagining a reach around in the manner of a Dutch reach when you open the car door in an odd way Grin

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 10/01/2018 18:17

I'd wondered if it was a teen magazine e urban myth about heavy petting and pregnancy. I am enlightened, and no just about that ! Blush

notapizzaeater · 10/01/2018 18:25

It would be a fab story to tell them when they are old enough to be embarrassed .....

LoveMySituation · 10/01/2018 18:26

Thank you everyone for this hilarious thread Grin including Mr Blobby Grin

rufrak · 10/01/2018 18:26

If you’re really worried you can have a coil fitted up to 5 days after and sometimes later depending on your cycle length

3EyedRaven · 10/01/2018 18:29

Definitely read about this happening in More magazine (is that still available?) years ago

Aah, there’s was a picture of DP inone months More magazine, on the ‘Better than Becks’ section. Alas, he is not better than Becks Grin

BigSandyBalls2015 · 10/01/2018 18:31

How do any of you KNOW how you were conceived? Is this normal Sunday lunch time convo in some houses!!

I think my Irish catholic background is to blame!

Booboo66 · 10/01/2018 18:34

Nothing to add, just read the full thread and wanting to hang around for the updates Grin
