We rushed out of the last thread without even a pocket handkerchief: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/a3124599-Trump-2018-Resistance-is-Never-Futile

So here's a new one, with its own

I am the very model of a Very Stable Genius.
I have a mighty button and no problems with my penius.
I have no time for television, golf or social media
Since my brain is way way better than the best encyclopedia.

I'm cutting tax, I'll build a wall, I'll take away their medicare
You can trust me 'cos I'm orange and I have the most amazing hair.
So with my total ignorance of matters heterogeneous
I am the very model of a Very Stable Genius!

Compared to other leaders, my behavior's quite unusual
My twisted tweets and pissed-on sheets have managed to amuse you all
I have to drink two-handed 'cause my fingers are the teeniest
I need a sippy-cup with the inscription "Stable Genius."

WH staffers think his base will like it, apparently.

It’s not often you can say this, but it would be better for our national security if the President of the United States watched cartoons every morning. (Or anything, for that matter, other than Fox News.)

Thoughtful leaders on both sides of the aisle know FISA section 702 is a vital and carefully overseen tool to protect this country. This isn’t about politics. Congress must reauthorize it.

TheClaws · 11/01/2018 23:12

lionheart the shithole comment?

Fekko · 11/01/2018 23:26

In case you missed it... "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" he’d rather people came from Norway apparently. But definately not Haiti (he says they all have aids there).

I think he really has lost the plot now...

Trump's base is miniscule. He's the most unpopular president in history.

The question to ask is why a miniscule base is enough for them. They should want to broaden his base -- unless they're confident that voter suppression will render public will irrelevant.

this is the irreducible poison at the core of Trump’s politics, the deadly essence of the birtherism that launched him & the voter disenfranchisement by which he hopes to hang on: his bedrock conviction that a non-white person is shithole person and cannot be a legit American

Staffers inside the White House aren't that worried about Trump's "shithole" remark -- with some predicting it will actually resonate with his base, not alienate it, much like his attacks on NFL players who kneel during the national anthem did.

Dan Rather’s response - should not have to be written.

“Trump's comments about immigrants from "shithole countries" is among the worst statements he has ever uttered. It might very well be the worst.

To have this outrage come as we approach the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is to cast in sharp relief the moral gulf between America as envisioned by the civil rights activist and our current President. It was Dr. King who said "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." By all accounts, Mr. Trump does not now and has never believed in such an America.

This is undeniably and clearly outright racist. It simply cannot be allowed to continue by anyone who cares about the future of this country. This is sad. It is hurtful. It is dangerous. It is unpatriotic. Each elected official, each American, has a choice: where do you stand? Some may say this helps the President with his base. What about how it debases the values of our nation? This rhetoric has to be damned at every turn, at every time. That millions of hard working men, women, and children have lives that hang in the balance at the whims of this President only makes this moment all the more tragic. Make no mistake, America is diminished today in the eyes of the world and in the eyes of history. It will be up to every decent person to make sure that this is not our destiny.”

I am sorry for Americans who don't support this shithole of a President, that they have to see their country's leader mocked and vilified on the world stage and have to suffer the consequences of his disgraceful actions (and words).

SanFranBear · 12/01/2018 00:12

Yes - he's not coming here which is awesome... but does mean the chance to protest is lost. Although perhaps there is the opportunity to still make a statement on that day?

Alwaysinmyheart · 12/01/2018 00:20

Those are very poignant words from Dan Rather. Trump really is a vile creature and just when I think he can't get any worse, he does! Will there ever be a bottom to this wretch of a man?

cozietoesie · 12/01/2018 00:28

He has none. (In the immortal words of Francis Urquhart.)

badbadhusky · 12/01/2018 01:04

Normay, surely? Grin

TheClaws · 12/01/2018 02:22

It certainly would appeal to his base. It seems DACA is a key issue for them, along with the wall. If Trump does not deliver on those, he loses his base. A few racist remarks keep them braying and MAGA-ing on the sidelines Sad
