I would imagine she had writers on her tv show.
On her show, she interviewed, facilitated conversation, and spoke from her heart. I'm not saying she didn't have writers (I don't know) but the show wasn't scripted per se.
I think that the comments that she didn't write the speech are meant to discredit her and put her down. It isn't a comment that I usually see toward either celebrities or politicians, even though many use writers. I think the comments may be based in either racism or sexism or a combination. As if to say, "well, there's no way that a black woman could have something to say or articulate her views, so she was just reading someone else's words. It doesn't count."
I thought the Jonathon Pie video was spot on.
With a swing to the Democrats, the House of Representatives could effectively stop a lot of legislation plans in their tracks
Yes, but it is barely necessary. In spite of having majorities in both the Senate and The House and having the White House, the republicans are completely dysfunctional and can barely get anything done. If there were any Republican other than Trump in the White House, far more of the Republican platform would have been codified into law at this point. I'm a moderate, so I'm glad their platform isn't becoming more entrenched. Watching the mess in Washington should be a case study for both parties to not let someone without governing experience get this far.
A senator who has been on some of the heavy hitting committees is best. Elizabeth Warren comes to mind. She's on the following senate committees:
- Committee on Armed Services
Subcommittee on Airland
Subcommittee on Personnel
Subcommittee on Strategic Forces
- Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs
Subcommittee on Economic Policy
Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Protection (ranking member)
Subcommittee on Securities, Insurance, and Investment
- Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions
Subcommittee on Primary Health and Retirement Security
- Special Committee on Aging
This is the sort of CV that would make someone a solid president. Not a speech at an award ceremony. I like Oprah, her science issues aside, I like her. She nice. She genuinely cares about people. But she isn't qualified to be the president. If she wants to be, I think she would run for Senate and spend 10-20 years there, and then consider it.
