Sitting on an aircraft. Not taken off. The woman behind me keeps putting her foot up on my arm rest and knocking my elbow.

I've just elbowed her off.
In for a long flight.

Tickle her feet. Grin

cathyclown · 04/01/2018 21:29

Some people! Glad you got it sorted in the end OP.

So now, can someone give me a bit of advice..... it's related. I ALWAYS seem to end up in a seat beside a humungous obese person who literally takes up my space and armrests, and sweats for our (or their) country. Why me?

It is just too Un PC to say anything I know, but it is just so uncomfortable. And it always happens when I am on my own, it's like they single me out for this kind of thing, being a bit lighthearted here obv.

Frouby · 04/01/2018 21:36

I would have used the lap belts to strap her to the armrest. One from one side and one from the other both on the longest setting should probably reach over a cankle 😂😂😂

YouTheCat · 04/01/2018 21:46

Stick gum to her shoe. Very irritating.

KiaOraAura · 04/01/2018 21:57

Poor you OP. Your story reminds me of something. A friend of mine and his wife were on a long haul flight sitting behind two men resplendent in white tracksuits and white trainers. These two were absolutely foul to everyone, especially the cabin crew. Eventually the lights were dimmed for the night and the pair of them fell deeply asleep (alcohol assisted).

My friend sensed an opportunity for revenge on everyone's behalf. One of the snoring pair had taken his trainers off, so very carefully my friend managed to manoeuvre one trainer to within reaching distance and somehow it ended up deep in one of the toilet bins.

The poor man had to hobble off the plane in a single designer trainer Grin He and his gobby friend were also a little more brightly dressed than when they got on the flight. Someone (can't think who) had ordered two glasses of red wine. Deciding to donate them to the greater good, he carefully dropped down the deeply asleep pair's tables and balanced the wine glasses on them. Rather unfortunately, as they awoke, both of them moved, knocked their tables and their white tracksuits ended up covered in red wine . . .

Fluffy your knees touch the seat which means you need more room. Other people should be able to recline their seats if they wish. The seats don’t recline much so clearly your knees will be in the way meaning you need more room. Funny enough, the seats are designed to recline and are allowed to be used to do so. You are the problem, not the person reclining and you are the selfish one. 🙄

^^ I agree 100%. If the airline provides reclining seats, which almost all do on long haul flights, then the passengers who have paid for the seats have every right to expect to be able to use them as intended.

I can't imagine sitting through a 10 hour overnight flight and not being able to recline the seat!

UrsulaPandress · 05/01/2018 12:49

Your knees touching the back of the seat in front do not prevent a recline, as the seat moves forward and down as it reclines. Well they do on the planes I have flown on recently.

It's a bit rich to insist someone pays for extra leg room because they might have long legs!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 05/01/2018 12:54

Probably wouldn’t have the guts to spill a bottle of water on her foot but I sometimes carry little perfume spray with me so would definitely spray that. Dirty cow.

NewYearNiki · 05/01/2018 14:56

She was furious with me at having the audacity to ask her to remove her sweaty foot from my arm rest.

I honestly thought I'd missed something.

AIBU is unanimous though Grin

I came home from Portugal last year the man sat next to me picked and nibbled his nails and skin around them and spat it out. My husband was sat at the other side of me so I turn towards him,but when we landed I noticed his iPad on his lap it was covered in bits of nail and skin. Fucking disgusting couldn’t get off quick enough 🤢😷😝

nutnerk · 05/01/2018 17:43

Do something creepy like start to tickle her or stoke it hahaha

Bostin · 05/01/2018 17:55

I hate all you recliners.

I don’t get the confusion with reclining etiquette on here.

Reclining on a night flight, fine (after food).

A short haul dayylight, not fine.

Echogirl · 05/01/2018 18:05

What an absolute bitch😣
I had a flight to New York with a cow in front who lay her chair in the reclining position as soon as the seatbelt sign was turned off 😈
I could have easily strangled her😞

babababa OUCH! That stuff is like molten lava Sad

NewYearNiki · 05/01/2018 18:08

He also taught me that 'crazy' is a good way to go when people are pissing you off in a public space you are trapped in - they steer clear of you if they think you might do something deeply weird

That's awesome

I should have done something nuts to ward off this woman.

OP posts:
Cantuccit · 05/01/2018 18:08

Echogirl do you usually want to strangle people going about their perfectly valid business?

She was absolutely entitled to recline her seat.

Bostin · 05/01/2018 18:11

Just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.

Cantuccit · 05/01/2018 18:15

Sorry Bostin, I don't care how much you hate me. I care about my sleep more.

I will always recline my seat. Ner ner.
