Sitting on an aircraft. Not taken off. The woman behind me keeps putting her foot up on my arm rest and knocking my elbow.

I've just elbowed her off.
In for a long flight.

cantuccit I struggle with recliners as i’m 5’9” and have extremely long limbs. someone reclining their seat means I actually can’t move which is not great for hours on end. Mind you my knees are normally jammed into the seat so hard that they find it hard to actually push the seat back!

Mrswinkler · 03/01/2018 22:25

Christ, hope this isn't a long haul flight We won't know what happened for hours......

Tistheseason17 · 03/01/2018 22:26

I was on a short day flight 1 hr to Chicago when twunt in front reclined during take off.
I developed (cough, cough!) a spasm which forced me to repeatedly kick the rear of his seat.

He called a lovely attendant who suggested if he stopped reclining the kicking would prob stop as I would not be in spasm and she winked!

“I have fleas” usually does the trick with this type of dicktoothed Visigoth.

@Fluffyears I'm sorry for you, but it's then up to you to book a seat with extra legroom.

I wouldn't recline my seat on a short flight but I need to recline on a long flight, espcially on night flights.

Longdistance · 03/01/2018 22:30

Tell her to stop acting like such a peasant!

Fluffyears · 03/01/2018 22:31

Pretty sure roman in front of me on the way to New York was trying to recline but my knees are completely jammed against the seat so unless she threw herself back and crippled me she was stuck but I could feel her pushing. That hurt when she tried to push against my knees.

Longdistance · 03/01/2018 22:31

Or tickle the middle of her feet 😊

Fluffyears · 03/01/2018 22:32

Nah I don’t need extra room as I have just enough but my legs are against the seat so the person can’t recline anyway. I’m happy enough not paying an extra £200 when my knees are a natural barrier.

My DH is 6ft but never has his knees against the seat in front.

Must be a very selective problem...

Fluffyears · 03/01/2018 22:34

I have longer legs than my brother who is 6’4” I am very long limbed.

Gingernaut · 03/01/2018 22:34

Can you play "This little piggie..."

Cantuccit · 03/01/2018 22:34

@Fluffyears you're lucky you've not met me on a flight where you're sitting behind me Grin

WorraLiberty · 03/01/2018 22:37

Bite her big toe. Hard.

Fishface!! Grin Grin

Fluffyears · 03/01/2018 22:37

Why what exactly would you do? I can’t remove my legs so you can complain and shout all you like it wouldn’t help the fact that my legs are there!

Opheliasgoldenwine · 03/01/2018 22:38

Yuck! Shove them away!

Fluffyears · 03/01/2018 22:38

Although I have it on good authority that on that case one of us may be upgraded 🤫

monkeywithacowface · 03/01/2018 22:40

Just place marking for a post flight update!

MaidOfStars · 03/01/2018 22:42

Place marking for the inevitable decline into recliners versus those with implausibly long legs.

SoGoodToBeBackHomeAgain · 03/01/2018 22:43

@Fluffy how did you know they were roman? Was it the toga? Wink

Fluffyears · 03/01/2018 22:44

@sogood, it was the toga and they arrived at airport in a chariot 🤣

CorbynsBumFlannel · 03/01/2018 22:47

Outrageous behaviour from the other passenger but only on Mumsnet are people roundly congratulated for assaulting someone rather than simply asking them politely to move their foot.
You never see anyone behave like this in rl - they tend to 'use their words' once they get past the age of about 3.

JessicaPeach · 03/01/2018 22:52

Someone repeatedly did this to my 3yr old in the cinema yesterday, I was so annoyed!

monkeywithacowface · 03/01/2018 22:52

Indeed it is strange that people would recommend inflicting 1st degree burns with coffee before trying a more reasonable "excuse me please take your foot away and keep it away"

My husband and friends quietly die whilst I politely reprimand noisy cinema goers and tiresome fellow plane passengers. Have to say though I ALWAYS get the result I want i.e. shut up, fuck off or stop kicking my fucking seat. (but said in a more grown up way)

Excitedforxmas · 03/01/2018 22:55

Lick it- they'll soon move!
