Get your fucking foot off my seat!

NewYearNiki · 03/01/2018 22:10

Sitting on an aircraft. Not taken off. The woman behind me keeps putting her foot up on my arm rest and knocking my elbow.

I've just elbowed her off.
In for a long flight.

Undo her lace? I'd unthread it. Sorry, I fiddle with things when I'm bored, like.

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 03/01/2018 23:52

Punch it.

I would...but then I have a slightly "rough" edge. People like her need matching in their roughness.

Say "Get yer fuckin' hoof off my seat you mingin' bitch!" and she'll back down.

SilenceMeansWhatAreTheyUpTo · 03/01/2018 23:54

Just before getting off, I'd be strongly tempted to attach something to her shoelace (not sure what - any suggestions? Grin) which would trap her foot and make it impossible to pull it back, so that she would either have to reach around herself to extricate it or call for assistance from the stewards, as the OP will be long gone by then. Wink

glitterlips1 · 03/01/2018 23:58

Eww, I would have definitely told her to move her ugly smelly trotter away from me.

Why are some people so annoying. Recently I had a women sitting next to me in a middle plane chair who decided to make up a fish dish she had brought from home. 12 hour flight with stinky fish smell which got worse over 12 hours after she put the leftovers in her handbag...next to me.

FreddieClaryHorshieLion · 03/01/2018 23:59

antuccit I struggle with recliners as i’m 5’9” and have extremely long limbs. someone reclining their seat means I actually can’t move which is not great for hours on end. Mind you my knees are normally jammed into the seat so hard that they find it hard to actually push the seat back!
My dd had someone do this to her on a long haul flight and then fell asleep. When I complained to the hostess she told me there was nothing they could do.

Why don't you pay for extra legroom? Preventing other passengers from reclining might be seen as selfish as well... Or expecting them to not fall asleep / recline on a long haul flight.

Cantuccit · 04/01/2018 00:03

Freddie Knee defenders don't sleep on long haul flights, so it's selfish of recliners to sleep, donchaknow Wink

TheOnlyWaysTitsUp · 04/01/2018 00:27

MN really is a parallel universe sometimes - in real life no-one gives a shit if the person in front reclines their chair so long as it isn’t during mealtimes but on MN posters go out their way to compete on bizarre methods of abusing the person in front in a “that’ll learn em’” type way

Or maybe in real life some people (like you) don't care if the person in front reclines and others (like me) do.

And surely most of the daft ideas are meant as jokes rather people claiming they'd actually do them all.

WattdeEll · 04/01/2018 00:29

One of these in your hand luggage is your friend. www.boots.com/boots-hot-weather-cooling-spray-150ml-10112494

I carry one on every flight, if I get someone’s minging foot on the armrest, I will fake a sneeze and spritz the water mist on them at the same time. They soon shift if they think they have been sneezed upon Grin used it twice, gets the desired result every time

WattdeEll · 04/01/2018 00:30

I should add, spray is used when they have been asked but won’t move their hoof.

NewYearNiki · 04/01/2018 01:56

The spray idea is genius will be using that.

@Cantuccit It was a 2 hour flight and back in the day so there wasn’t loads of options I was at the back so couldn’t recline my seat and she was completely on top of me. We had no issue with her reclining it but she was completely laid down.

Cantuccit · 04/01/2018 08:26

@Msqueen yes, I probably wouldn't recline on a 2 hour flight.

What airline was it? These reclining flat bed type seats sound great. I've never had an exonomy seat recline that far back.

hmcAsWas · 04/01/2018 08:33

"Punch it."

Great way to escalate things to a physical confrontation and get barred from the airline for life Hmm

Spray suggestion is genius

Snowdrop18 · 04/01/2018 08:37

OP what a nightmare!!

The trouble with people like this is they won't notice anything short of, um, violence. Which I'm not advocating. Entitled gits.

NewYearNiki · 04/01/2018 09:28

The airline staff remarked they think she had been drinking and I should have said.

Yes. I should

But she stopped after the third / fourth attempt.

“She was completely laid down”

Unless the seat was broken then this is simply not true

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 04/01/2018 11:16

HMC like I was SERIOUS! Oh...I forgot there's a big old contingent on here with no sense of humour!

ThatHippyDippyShit · 04/01/2018 16:40

"Excuse me, your foot really smells. Could you move it please? Thanks"

hmcAsWas · 04/01/2018 18:23

I do have a sense of humour Cheap - its just that somebody has to say something funny / witty to trigger it

Apologies for assuming you were serious however

Fluffyears · 04/01/2018 19:50

freddie why should I pay for extra legroom? I fit into the seat fine although my knees are against the seat in front. Not my problem if my legs prevent someone’s seat going back, maybe they should pay for business class so they can lie on a bed like seat!

Oldraver · 04/01/2018 19:59

Pity you couldn't tie her laces around the armrest

motheroreily · 04/01/2018 20:03

I never realised it was bad form to recline your seat on a flight. Bet I've annoyed loads of people

Not been on a long flight for 15 years though

NewYearNiki · 04/01/2018 21:01

I was kind of afraid of starting the thread in AIBU but relieved that everyone agrees she was wrong in having her feet extended onto my armrest.

I did see appalling other behaviour from other passengers in the airport. In particular an Aussie woman who was trying to make arrangements to ship items back to Australia as her baggage was significantly overweight. The company that could do it was closing and their systems had been shut down accordingly. He couldnt do it.

She asked what else their was to do and he said a post office but none in walking distance of the airport and all shut now. She went crazy and yelled at him for being useless and providing a shit service.

FFS it is no one's fault but your own that your baggage is overweight and no ones fault you chose a night flight when everything would be shut and no means to post anything home.

Pay the sodding excess baggage or chuck some stuff out if you dont want to pay it.

NewYearNiki · 04/01/2018 21:02

*there sodding auto correct

Why should anyone else stop using the seat as its intended because your legs are too long?
