Openly judgmental towards tattoos?

My OH is tattooed from the neck down. They are cultural tattoos and he is a big guy, over 6ft and does body building.
I knew him years ago when he didn’t have the tattoos and when he was slim. Strangers were nice to him, and treated him like any other person. But now, he finds that men tend to square up to him on nights out, shop staff and waiting staff are abnormally abrupt and people in general is just openly quite hostile towards him. It makes me sad, and makes him anxious about going out.

AIBU to think most people aren’t this ignorant that they can’t see past the ink and see that he’s just a normal guy who wants to be able to enjoy a glass of coke in his local pub without men puffing their chests out at him whenever he walks by?
I thought we were over this in this day and age.

She’s not a mess. It’s down to personal taste. Guarantee I’d take one look at you and think you look shit. Seeing as our tastes are so different.

Seriously I can't believe how nasty and judgemental some people are. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you should mock and insult people who think differently. People do lots of different things to express themselves or just cause they want to. People have lots of different reasons for getting tattoos, some of which are very personal and they don't have to justify themselves to you. I know people with tattoos to commerate their lost relative, people who have tattoos to cover up scaring from horrific times in their life. Just cause you don't like them doesn't give you the right to judge People, to imply they are mentally ill, self harming, attention seeking or not attractive. I'm so glad that in my day to day life I very rarely come across such sanctimonious judgemental people.

Why would a bride who is comfortable in her own skin and loves how they look in their wedding dress (a dress chosen specifically to show tattoos), give one fuck what you think to their look, Frog?
Some posters on here are so angry about other people's bodies, that they are missing one vital fact: no one cares. It doesn't affect anyone's life.

So far I have been told it is fact that I am not attractive due to my tattoos. That is rude, it may be a free country but manners cost nothing and being nasty isn't a particularly attractive feature either.
